  1. Yeah, it is stuff that she uses frequently, will keep that in mind.
  2. Thank you everyone for the feedback! Massive difference to what I thought was needed lol. Suggestions are a significant improvement to what she has now! @Juular and @boggy77 Might do a combination of your builds + 1 TB HDD, forgot to mention that her computer already has 500GB used up.
  3. 1. Budget & Location Budget - $1000 USD with about $200 leeway. Location is USA. 2. Aim Plan to upgrade existing prebuilt work system that girlfriend uses with new one. Computer will be used for lots of multitasking in several apps (i.e. Chrome, Adobe DC Pro, Excel, Word, Outlook, Dropbox, company specific apps, etc). 3. Monitors Currently using 2 1080p monitors, plan to get a 3rd one down the line. 4. Peripherals Will be using existing peripherals. OS will be needed, planning to get Windows 10 Home. 5. Why are you upgrading? Existing system for work is an All-in-One HP 24-G026 (i5-6200U, 8GB Ram, 1 TB HDD), 3.5 years old Has a tough time handling what she uses it for, seems to bottleneck on CPU / RAM / HDD Some of the issues that she runs into is: Slow boot up Can only have a few apps open at a time before freezing/not responding Allowing her to have everything that she needs open at the same time is most important Below is what I had planned so far, I am not 100% sure on the motherboard, power supply and case. Primarily focused on storage, memory and CPU. If the graphics card is needed to better support 3 1080p monitors, it didn't seem like too bad of a deal. https://www.newegg.com/dell-inspiron-5680/p/1VK-0001-537F4?Item=9SIAEYAAUP4883 Intel Core i7-9700 16GB DDR4 RAM Upgraded 1TB SSD + 1TB HDD GTX 1660 Ti HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI Windows 10 Home Thank you for taking the time to take a look at this post. 4. I agree with what your saying. I think I am going to keep the K series and the aftermarket cooler just in case I need the extra FPS. If I plan on OCing, how much should I increase it by without needing a water cooler?
  5. Thank you for all of your feedback, I really appreciate it! I don't plan on OCing the cpu because I am slightly worried about frying it. Also installing the water cooler seems difficult to me. I took your advice about the EVGA 970 and swapped it out with a Gigabyte 970. Thank you for pointing that out to me. Also I think I will go with the ASUS VG248QE as $450 is a little too steep for me. Once again, thank you all for helping me out and giving me valuable advice! Below is an updated parts list based on the one Speedyv provided. I just swapped out the graphics card and added the monitor. I would also like to note that the monitor isn't being factored into the $1000 budget. 6. Hello, this is my first time building a gaming pc. I am not experienced at part picking or building. I don't really have a brand preference. As long as the overall performance is great and that it will allow me to enjoy the new games that come out in the following years that's all that matters. 1. Budget & Location My current location is in the USA. The budget is around $1000 USD with about $100 leeway. 2. Aim This system would mainly be used for gaming and general web browsing. Some games include: Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 2, Minecraft. 3. Monitors I plan on using only one monitor and I am unsure about the resolution. 4. Peripherals I already have the OS, mouse, speakers and keyboard. 5. Why am I upgrading? I would like to upgrade because at the moment I have been using a Sony Vaio laptop for the past 6-7 years for my gaming needs. There are games where my laptop struggles to get above 10-20 FPS on lowest settings. I would like to apologize in advance if I am missing anything. Any suggestions or advice would be very helpful. Thank you!
