  1. I can not risk destroying the CPU, so delidding is not an option. I was mostly wondering if the temperatures I'm getting are typical, or if there might be some issues with my setup (OC or cooling/thermal paste).
  2. I recently got a 7700k and a Noctua NH-D15. I'm on a ASUS TUF Mark 1 motherboard, in a Define R5 case. When I set the multiplier to 48x, LLC level 5, core voltage 1.280 V (which gives me a max VCORE of 1.280 V during the stress tests), I get temperatures of 84 C when running Prime95 Small FFTs. I use Prime95 version 28.10. Are these temperatures reasonable for that overclock and the cooling solution? 84 C is a bit too high for my liking, and I get errors in Prime95 if I reduce the voltage any more. PS: This machine will be used for running AVX enabled software, that's why I stress test using the latest Prime95. I realize I can get higher clocks if I use regular stress tests, but that's not relevant for me.
  3. Nice, thanks. I'd be very interested in knowing if that is still true. I Tweeted Nick about it, let's see if he replies:
  4. That is awesome, if it's true. If so I will re-sub to Vessel for sure. But you have a source for this? Google was of no help today.
  5. But when I subscribe to Vessel most of my money probably goes to Vessel and the other channels on Vessel, not LTT directly. I'm not interested in any other channels, so I would prefer a LTT-only version of Vessel.
  6. I know I can do bronze/silver/gold subscriptions to support LTT directly, and I know that I can get early access on Vessel. But I would love if there was some kind of Vessel "LTT" edition, where all/most of my money goes directly to LTT, and I only get early access to LTT videos.
  7. Yes I did, we were in the process of replacing the stock cooler with a AIO liquid cooler. I'm not 100% certain though, since I wasn't really there to study the stock heatsink.
  8. Thanks guys, awesome help from everyone. Regarding the copper vs alu coolers: I'm pretty certain that a friend of mine has a i5 2500k stock cooler which doesn't have a copper core, just pure aluminium. I just ran into a great deal on a R9 390 as well, so I might be doing a cheap upgrade of both the CPU and GPU in my old machine. It currently has a i3 2100 and a GTX 560Ti
  9. I have an i3 2100, and I'm getting a very good deal on a i5 3570k without a cooler. Does anyone know if the cooler from the i3 will do the job? I won't be overclocking it. The i3 has a TDP of 65 W and the i5 77 W, so I can't imagine the coolers have very different performance.
  10. I want the keyboard, since I LOVE MECHANICAL KEYBOARDS!
  11. Looks like an awesome console-like media PC for my TV!
  12. I like the Aria the most, since it looks to be a "gaming" headset that looks like a normal headset, but includes a microphone.
  13. I ended up getting a Dell Precision M3800, and I'm very impressed and pleased with it. The build quality seems amazing, and the blend of aluminium and carbon fiber is great. I love the 4K screen, even though high dpi support in Windows 8.1 is still not perfect, but I'm hoping Windows 10 will solve most of this (a lot of this is up to app developers, some are pretty negligent towards high dpi support). It strikes a good balance between weight, portability and performance. The keyboard is amazing. The machine I got is configured with a 61 Wh battery and a "full mini card" SSD, so there's actually spare room inside the machine for 2.5" hard drive, or a larger 91 Wh battery. I'll have to test the current battery capacity while travelling before deciding which alternative I want.
  14. I think I found a version of the Clevo P650SG that is available from a Norwegian retailer: http://www.multicom.no/Multicom-Kunshan-P651S-15e6-4K-UHD-3840x2160e-Intel-Core-i7-4870HQe-16GBe-240GB-SSD-1TB-7200rpme-GeForce-GTX-980M-4GBe-Uten-operativsysteme-28e8mm-tynn/cat-p/c/p10630082 It has the following specs: 4K screen i7-4870HQ 16 GB of RAM (2 free RAM slots) 240 GB SSD + 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD GTX 980M 4GB 60 Wh battery 2.5 kg 28.8 mm thick Seems like it's pretty quiet and cool, so this might be a winner for me. The only issue I can see is the GPU. How does the 980M stack against a K1100M in rendering, Matlab, CAD etc.?
