I have not been able to get update KB4556799 a.k.a (2020-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems) to successfully install at all, always receiving the error code 0x800f0831. I've tried a few tips such as using the troubleshooter, disabling my VPN, various CMD prompts and even try to download and install it manually. None of them work. Any ideas? I run on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

Unless its some compatibility thing, I think that any DDR4 kit should be ok. I don't own alienware products so I can't be 100% certain on that.

Try a simple wireless AC router. I have a nighthawk 7000 for instance. If all the devices are generally used concurrently, you might consider getting a better data plan

The reason I keep choosing an sfx modular psu is to have more space to work with and not have to deal with a lot of wires as opposed to the cx450. Also I keep choosing the 970 evo for its reliability. I don't know how that HP ssd will perform. A $30 video card is fine for basic video out. I also restrict my merchant lists to not have to buy from too many locations. EDIT: For ram, 16GB with good warranty is fine. Warranty and reliability are important for this build so I'm willing to put in more expensive parts even if there is no performance benefit.

Someone did state earlier that this is not a gaming pc, but also the fact that overclocking voids warranty, something that I can't do for this build EDIT: I also want to mention that dust filters are necessary for this PC due to the type of workplace

The processor needs to be something that can handle multiple tabs of various programs and tabs of chrome without slowing down. Storage is mostly the same with an ssd/hdd combo. I tried to specifically find a motherboard with an m.2 ultra slot for an SSD. It is not absolutely necessary to reach $1000, just has to be quick and store a ton of files (hence the ssd/hdd combo)

Thank you for your suggestions but I prefer to not have a dedicated video card since this pc won't be used for any games. However, a small GPU only for basic video out is okay

Hello guys. I have been tasked with building a pc for my father's workplace up to a $1000 dollar budget and I wanted to see if there can be improvements made or an AMD equivalent. The primary task will be for storing documents, excel, photographs, and web browsing (generally multiple tabs open).Please let me know of what you think. When I was installing win95 on a virtual machine, I had to install DOS first but I don't understand why. Can someone explain to me?

Personally, I don't mind if it can be weaponized or not, but thorium is a better fuel overall.

A regular HDD will work fine. SSDs are better used for operating systems or archival storage

Did you check your system for malware, or bloatware that could take up the CPU's run time?

Maybe not. I also have a secondary screen running running at 60hz but again, connected via DVI so I don't know how it would affect the OP considering his GPU doesn't have DVI ports.

The monitor isn't an issue. I have the exact same display, but a direct DVI run from my GPU EDIT: AFAIK, HDMI is not the best to use for high refresh rates. HDMI for the Acer GN246HL won't work.

What about dusting your parts? And how full/old are those SSDs?

So you have one stick of memory? I am not sure if that is the case but dual channel memory is generally preferred afaik. Also the r7 240 is not good for today's games.

(I realize I posted this over a year ago but...) its not as awful as it might seem. Uranium in reactors is not enriched to the same levels as Uranium in bombs.

The temperature shouldn't be an issue. How much RAM do you have in your system?
