What exactly happens, does the audio cut out when you speak into it (or vice versa). Do you have to choose which one works?

My Realtek HD audio manager prompts to tell me what device was plugged in, if I pick headphones, I can hear audio perfectly fine but microphone doesn't register on my PC what so ever

  2. I need some help with some software experts, because I am just getting into youtube and want a good screen recording software that I can get for free that works w/ windows 10. If you know of any, please post below. Also, I have tried IceCream and Fraps, both I didn't like. Fraps didn't work with windows 10, IceCream didn't record the audio and I had the audio option on.

Remember, has to be Windows 10 compatible.

    OBS?

  3. well. . . TDP isn't equal to power consumption, but there is a correlation. higher TDP parts consume more power, be it short bursts or continuous.

TDP is the average power consumption over an extended load, because given enough time to heat soak the parts, power consumed is equal to heat dissapated.

TDP doesn't take into account short bursts of high power consumption, as they don't have a significant contribution to the heat output.

Yeah I worded that badly, naturally CPU/GPUs with higher TDP naturally consume more power as they are hotter but you can't necessarily judge the power consumption from the TDP eg. 390 only consumes 60W more than 970 under load

  4. Hey guys,

We're looking to buy a media/storage PC, and originally were planning on getting the i3 6300T (35W TDP). I did some maths, which leans highly towards the non "low TDP" versions. Here is the chart:

    E6Wgfri.png

So basically, how important is low TDP for server machines (24/7). Does it mean it will draw 85% more, whatever you are doing? Or is it just a limitation on the CPU so it cannot draw more than that. If you do the same task on a 6400T & 6400, will they draw similar wattage? Or will the 6400T be a lot more efficient. 8.5% increase cost for a 50% improvement seems like an easy choice (even the entry i5 is 30% for 4% extra).

Wondering what you guys think :) Any input on my build is appreciated as well (but not necessary)

    Thanks a lot,

    Clampy

    You're making the general confusion.

TDP has zero correlation with wattage or power consumption, it's rather a measure of cooling and how much heat it can output.

But low TDP would still be nice for a 24/7 machine

  5.

So this partslist is for a gaming build I will be making, I plan on playing the latest AAA games such as Just Cause 3, GTA V, The Witcher 3 among others at 1440p high-ultra settings. I don't mind if the fps is at 45 fps because I can't really notice a difference from 45 to 60 which is why I went with a 390 I just don't want it dropping down to 30 fps or something. I also want it to last a year or 2 before I have to do any upgrades. Also, I was thinking of getting a Mionix Castor instead of a Logitech G502 but I'm not sure so opinions? Anyways, here's the build

With your budget you might as well opt for a 390X and I changed PSU

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($223.99 @ SuperBiiz)

  6. So, what kind of disadvantages am I looking at if I go with the i3?

less multitasking, can't open as many programs at once, some games utilize more cores where a i3 may lack and less offload on the CPU usage, less Intel features this is generally speaking though, some specific CPU tasks that isn't general usage benefit a lot more from using an i5 such as rendering or editing

  7. So do you think the EVGA 850 watt is to much?

but having those 850 watt wouldn't it mean that i wont have to upgrade in the furture?

i currently have a Coolermaster B700 atm, but do u think that is enough ?

I would upgrade since you don't really have a good quality PSU atm but there's not exactly any harm in going overkill on wattage

  8.

What do people think about this? It's not the best equipment, budget is stupidly tight. But I think it'll be ok to start and build over time.

As you can see, I have the CPU, Ram and Hard Drive and have no more than £150 left for MoBo, Video Card, Case and PSU (I looked at the SeaSonic one on PCPartPicker as it says it's fully modular, but it isn't)

What is this build for? Honestly doesn't even look like it's worth having tbh
