    1. Is there a place where I can find what transcoding and export settings the LTT team uses for its workflow? I want to take advantage of gpu acceleration in my own video editting system as well through the often talked about cineform codec.

    2. What exactly goes down when nvidia or any company sends you equipment to use in the workplace, like the graphics cards in your new editting den? Do they expect anything in return?

    3. Does Linus actually drive the honda civic and has he ever attracted much more attention than he would like

    4. Has there ever been some crazy conflict with people not feeling comfortable with a camera around during your scrapyard wars?

I've been hesitant to make yet another large blob of text explaining my train of thought on what's going on. Considering I'm mainly a lurker of all other forums and places I visit this thread is single handedly the most I've ever been involved in an online community. It's been an interesting, but surely very bumpy ride just getting this group together. This channel's been very rusty from the start under the hood, with no real sense of direction after the first and second video uploads. When we established our Google Hangouts chat to make things easier to discuss new ideas, it eventually turned into more of a place to just complain about stuff and comment on things we SHOULD be doing instead. Our numbers grew very quickly over time, but surprisingly the numbers of active members on our main point of communication stayed the same. Many hired members never reported once after joining the group, so we quickly realized that we were at a stand still. No consistency in our video creation process, lack of communication with direction from our leader, and lack of dedication required from ALL members of the group sum up our main problems and why the core members have decided to branch off.

It's been frustrating not because of our inactive members, but because communication between all members became harder and harder as our numbers grew close to thirty people and Sam continued to add more, without any discussion with us as to whether we even needed more members. None of our new members (albeit a few joined very recently and didn't have time to contribute) made any contribution to the team, and with more members coming in lack of communication just turned into chaos.

To prevent this issue from progressing any further than it already has, we've decided to branch off into a new, MUCH smaller group. Being a smaller group allows us to work more efficiently in the sense that we're closely knit together, easy to contact, and the process of making videos will be more concrete once we set it down. Explaining everything to new members everytime will be tedious(and do note this is by far not even close to a major deciding point for as to why we don't want more members) and making sure they follow such rules will be another issue. Quality control was also a huge problem with our channel, and it was difficult to fully inform new members of what we expect of them before they kick into high gear and start uploading stuff on our servers.

Sam Strecker did not give enough input, if any in many of the problems we were facing. This is because due to great inactivity to the Google Hangouts chat he wasn't even around 90%+ of the time to get updates on what's going on. With that in mind, we didn't see Sam at all for a couple days and out of nowhere the first thing we personally see him do on this thread is yet again, hire another member.

To address everyone else that has not yet received access to the new Google Hangouts, please know that we do not need more members, and we did not ever need more members. The others that have joined before you but have also not gotten access will not be given access due to their inactivity. I myself regret not letting anyone else in, however we need to form a proper foundation on which to build on before we should open up the doors to more members, even if a number of you are willing to stick around and contribute to the team. Our current number sits at around roughly 10-12 people. We would've been perfectly comfortable with our numbers, and everyone else that was later invited were not under our agreement to let in, but rather Sam's alone.

We're not endorsing anything illegal here, agreeably rooting gives you better abilities and tools to get around paid systems etc in apps, getting paid apps for free does not require an android root. Also, who downloads music on their phone =l Rooting in the end provides a much better user experience assuming the user is willing to take the time to learn his way around the different but rather simple steps to stuff like improving battery life, overclocking(if you really want to on a passively cooled device), killing apps in sleep, etc.

Getting control over custom recoveries and custom roms is probably the first and best step to getting extra features not provided in the version of android that comes with the phone, along with system optimizations. Sometimes, companies are behind when a new version of android comes out and heading over to places like xda and androidforums, you will see devs possibly working and releasing the latest version before it comes to your specific device officially.

I'm really not sure about this. I'm going to have to ask some other guys to chime in for me, but the main idea is to have original content only on our channel. That means no straight up just pulling videos off of personal channels and throwing the intro/outro animations and uploading them to our channel. In this case, where it's not being pulled off of your personal channel but rather being uploaded the same time to both channels, it's a bit of a different story. Can't say for sure if that's allowed. Although, do keep in mind that for uploading the vid to our channel you get a big shout out to you and your channel. Links will be in the cards and in the description.

Also, the editting is pretty much done on your H440 mod, vivilacqua

We're going to have an official Linus Community Videos Voice-Chat meeting on our Google Hangouts tomorrow at 7:00 PM GMT, aka 3:00 PM EST. We'll be discussing the future of this group, along with a clear cut plan with how we're going to run this channel. There are several issues that are currently hindering our ability to upload videos in both quantity (regular uploads) as well as quality (not missing the GOD DAMN TEXT BOXES IN THE OUTRO), along with overall poor organization. If you haven't been on the Hangouts yet or haven't been invited, PM one of us or myself for an invite to make sure you'll be on. Even if you don't have a microphone we would all really appreciate if all team members reported to the meeting tomorrow.

    Topics that I'll be addressing:

    1
A way to display news and announcements for all members and a way to display the rules and simple protocol/procedure in the video creation and uploading process.
In other words, above two require a centralized hub that connects everyone. A newsletter may fix this issue, where all the rules and procedures are given as the member joins the team.

Our current workaround to the problem: Placing notices and txt files in the ftp server, although regularly updating each and every one of them in all of the folders will be inefficient and become a drag.

    2
Establishing the aforementioned procedure that all editors and creators must follow in order to ensure the highest quality along all of our videos. Some examples will be: "All editors MUST INCLUDE A TXT FILE INCLUDING THE SONGS USED, render at x max bitrate and x average bitrate, and render at 60 fps."

Our current solution: No one knows what the procedure is except the active members in the hangouts.

    3
Goes along with number 2, but we need to designate legitimate people that have the ability and willpower to make a statement when a video doesn't look right and tell the editor to fix the video. Or, just get someone that has a decent vision for what good quality is, AKA a mod, and force all videos to be checked by the mods before they are uploaded. I'll be definitely speaking up about this at the meeting.

    4
Find a solution to the maker's inactivity or solution to making sure makers always have ideas and new content ready to go. As this is a community project, we will also appreciate input from the rest of the forums but we need a solid ground on what our makers will be regularly contributing, such as the tech show or fan show.

    5
Redesigning our video schedule spreadsheet. More on that as well in the meeting.

    6
Getting a template together on video descriptions.

    7
Getting our thumbnails uniform. If you can't get in touch with one of our designers but your video is ready to go and has been checked by a mod, just upload it regardless and keep it private until the thumbnail is up.

Now that we've settled down and realized which users are actually active and willing to help, we can start designating who's going to be taking the reigns on regular videos like LCV TV (yes that's officially what we'll be calling the daily tech video series) and the Fan Show. The tech videos will be organized via the video schedule spreadsheet as usual, so whenever a creator and editor is available they can type in their names on which days they'd like to do it. Same for the Fan Show, however no one really got back to how that's going to work.
