stitchlips's Achievements

  1. Red and black colour schemeGlossy plastic case with a gaudy angular designEnough LEDs to be seen from spaceOne or more obscenely overpriced GPUs
  2. I wouldn't upgrade my CPU for anything less than 60%. It's just not worth the cost to me. But then I'm [A] extremely low income, and completely disinterested in "raw performance". My current CPU works just fine, and it's still plenty fast. I'll be sticking with it indefinitely, failing some catastrophic hardware failure. As for my GPU, I wouldn't upgrade that thing unless it died or someone handed me money and said "Here, go buy a better graphics card". Until it starts pissing itself on Low settings, I'm sticking with it.
  3. Great idea, terrible execution. It definitely has a lot of potential but right now, with that case, it's just an eyesore.
  4. I can't pinpoint the exact game, but my earliest memories are of playing stuff like Zool, Jazz Jackrabbit, Supaplex, Hocus Pocus, Monster Bash, EcoQuest, and Zoombinis. Oh, and Vinyl Goddess From Mars. Who lets their five year old play a game like that? Answer: My parents.
  5. The DRM, especially Origin and Uplay. And Games for Windows Live, back in the day. I don't appreciate being forced to install a useless piece of software that I'm literally never going to use just so I can play the one or two games I bought from that developer. I built my own computer to specifically do away with all the crapware, I don't need it being shoehorned in with my legitimate purchases. The PCMR fanboys come in at a close second though.
  6. Pretty much 24/7. I usually leave it running overnight downloading files or working on long encoding queues. Even when it's just idling I tend to leave it on when I go to bed because I've grown accustomed to the "white noise".
  7. I used to have my setup in front of a window, it was always a nuisance whenever I wanted to open the damn thing. I wouldn't go back. Glare is a non-issue for me as my windows are blacked out and when they're open I usually have my curtains drawn anyway. As for having something nice to look at, it only points out into my overgrown backyard so "the view" is isn't exactly appealing. If I lived in a fancy apartment somewhere that overlooked the bay it would a different story...
  8. Yeah, they're pretty messed up. The video they did with Luke actually looked pretty good- lighting wise, I mean. I'm not a fan of the green screen kitchen background, although I understand that it's (hopefully) just a temporary setup until they get properly sorted out. If they intend to stick with the kitchen backdrop permanently then I'm gonna be really disappointed for a number of reasons.
  9. Seems needlessly paranoid to me. Companies like Google and Facebook having been mining private information for years, it's hardly breaking news. I'm all for the right to privacy but unless you're doing super illegal "dark web" type shit, nobody is going to take a second glance. It's not like some dude is sitting in a cubicle somewhere sifting through your files, it's just computers using the data that they've collected to send more relevant ads. And I, for one, could not care less if a bunch of ones and zeros finds out what kind of freaky shit I'm into. You can disable most of that "spying" crap anyway. Whatever is left afterwards, well that's what regedit is for. I still fully intend to upgrade to Windows 10 in a few months when all the bugs have been sorted out. A little nefarious behaviour on Microsoft's part is worth it (in my opinion) for overall better performance.
  10. Powerline. My modem is in the living room, way too far away to connect directly. Makes resetting the router a pain in the ass.
  11. Another rec for MusicBee here. It's easy to use, fast, has a highly customisable interface, and is extremely lightweight. It uses like a quarter of the memory that iTunes does. And that's just counting iTunes itself, not the bundle of extra processes that it also runs in the background.
  12. That's actually pretty neat. Looks like an indie game, kinda reminds me of Besieged only minus the textures.
  13. Poweramp and Today Calendar are great alternatives to the stock music and calendar apps respectively. They're the only paid apps I have on my phone aside from games.
  14. Computer: A year ago, to install my OS. And the only reason I bothered with it in the first place was because my motherboard wouldn't play nice with USB. Music: Nine months ago when I bought a CD to rip a lossless copy of a song I wanted because I couldn't get the FLAC anywhere online. Movies: A week ago. I still buy movies on DVD/Bluray because I like having a collection to look at as well as special features and whatnot. Console games: Yesterday. I refuse to buy anything but physical disks for my consoles because f*ck renewing a license to play a game I already bought. ...I have mixed feelings about optical media.
