  1. until

    3:30pm Saturday for me
  2. so a while back i posted a topic names Overheating and freezing, or something along those lines. i ended up buying a new cooler an that fixed my problems for a bit. but now my pc keeps locking up again all the time and i dont know what it is. i dont know weather its my i3 that i have or that its my ssd that did something wrong. on my cooler, the fan is exhaling towards the back of the case and i believe that the back case fan is exhaling as well although this shouldn't matter as the temps are fine (40 Celsius). if theres any troubleshooting logs i need to submit please tell me. i am devistated as this is my pc that i spent over $1000 and as im only 12, that money is not easy to get. Thank you all for your help
  3. my intel stock cooler failed, I have no idea what happened. told my dad, he ended up buying me a 212x anyways. I told him to get a Coolermaster or corsair cooler. it runs at about 32C average idle and about 45C under load average.
  4. the heat has been leading to high temps and freezing of my system which leads to low fps in games. wait... aren't you using a dark rock pro 3?
  5. well, my i3 does get higher temps than you would expect from an i3... about 72C average from playing very simple games like Minecraft and about 75C from games like bf4, rocket league and csgo. 60C from stuff like youtube, skype, all your common stuff that isn't gaming. I will try a reapplication of thermal compound, if that doesn't fix anything I will get a new cooler. if not the 212x what cooler would you recommend? (that's not an intel stock cooler of course)
  6. ok, I think ill just save my money for a Coolermaster 212x hyper CPU cooler.
  7. there is no case in the pcpp because my case is an eBay one that looked nice and it's not on pcpp. how would a 5th gen i3/15 be? or a 4th gen i7 be? i know where to get them cheap but would they bottleneck?
  8. yes, a pad will last longer than the surface although it will take longer to charge. for the screen the surface is bigger I think, but not by much. OS... windows for uni any day. don't know about price. well, the surface don't have sim slots but the iPad costs more for the 4g version so its up to you. if you don't always have wifi where you need it, use the iPad. stability... since the surface is running windows it will be more stable. I would use the surface for the reasons I stated in the OS part
  9. so this is the PC I had bought 2 Christmas ago but I brought the 750ti and the monitor last Xmas due to low budget. (I'm 12, I don't get very much money, my dad paid for the SSD and PSU) are there any cheap upgrades I could do to this PC, for example, a good air cooler. anything for under $150AU. I have not reapplied thermal compound at all and I am using the intel stock cooler. this is my PC http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/XpwxD3
  10. if you decide to get a laptop, it should be a light one so any Toshiba Portege will be good unless you want to game on it. if you just need college stuff it will work great. never get Toshiba satellite, the batteries are absolute shit. if you need an all day battery a MacBook air will be good. a protege will last you about 5 hours on the latest ones. this is the one I have though http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/toshiba-portege-z20t the Portege z20-t. it has 15 hours of battery life.
  11. Also, the BenQ GW2470H (http://www.msy.com.au/qld/morningside/peripherals/16038-benq-238-gw2470h-1920x1080-4ms-gtg-d-sub-hdmix2-led-backlight-lcd-monitor.html) is a Great monitor with a 2ms response rate. it is a 23.8-inch 1080p monitor and it looks great ($185 MSY). the build looks alright to me, I do not specialise in hardware, though, I'm more of a peripherals guy. the CPU I will not bottleneck the GPU and is also a recommended combo on this website I have found. if you have a 1tb HDD alongside the 250gb SSD why do you need a big SSD? just buy a 120gb SSD and get a 1/2tb HDD. i don't know why you need such a expensive motherboard but since its LGA1151 i don't know what to recommend to you otherwise.
  12. I'm not quite sure about Asus overheating at all, I'm am using the OC 750Ti since mid-November and it doesn't overheat. about 30C actually, strix coolers are not good but the normal Asus ones are though
  13. just a tip (I am also from Australia). BUY FROM MSY. they are really good and cheap in terms of prices of stuff (you may be able to get better specs because of the prices) although they have got a reputation of not refunding or replacing anything if they are broken. btw why do you have one 140mm fan and 2 120mm fans? has it got to do with the case, am I not noticing anything or is there a reason getting to the msy store page is a bit confusing so here is the link http://www.msy.com.au/stores
