Well you don't want to run highest dpi if your mouse uses hardware acceleration to reach that value. I'm not sure what you mean by 'native' dpi, but if you meant highest, there's my reply.

You are correct, He means highest DPI the mouse can achieve without using a multiplier to get there.
For those reading this comment who don't know what I am talking about here, some High DPI mice actually use upscaling to reach the resolution that they claim. So lets say a mouse is advertised as being able to go to 6000DPI, one method that some manufacturers use to achieve this is to put a 2000DPI sensor in and upscale the reading.
If the mouse is set for 3000DPI, the sensor will set itself at 1500DPI and the mouse hardware doubles the value of the reading from the sensor. If the mouse is set to 6000DPI, the hardware just triples the reading.

AstroBenny got a reaction from J.b091 in Is Razer really that bad?
Razer seems to be the company which receives the most hate when it comes to their products.
The three main arguments that seem to come across are:
    1) Poor build quality
    2) Break easily
    3) Overpriced

I have owned a Razer Deathadder for a few months now and also a Razer Blackwidow chroma and I have never had a problem with them whatsoever.
Sure, some of the products are a bit plasticky but that doesn't mean they are poorly built. The plastic they use feels reasonably firm if you ask me.
I'm not sure how many people have never actually owned a Razer product but claimed they break easily. I am not however saying that they haven't had issues in the past because it does seem as if they have had some quality control issues in the past.
Lets be honest, Razer products really aren't too much more expensive than their competitors..

Why is there so much hate to do with Razer..?

PXE booting is when your machine boots from an image provided to it from a server, this is sometimes used in computer labs at schools or businesses so that the Sys Admin can manage files and updates all at once and ensure that every machine has a good copy of it's software.

I'm using a Corsair K70, UK layout. In the last few days it's been playing up so that it switches country. I've checked keyboard settings in Windows and it is set to UK layout..
    ie...if I want to use @ normally using UK layout it's SHIFT + ' = @
    But now it's SHIFT + 2 = @

    Thanks for any advice

Edit: Fixed by pressing 'Eng' in the taskbar and changing to UK even though settings said it was already UK..

AstroBenny reacted to Droidbot in My HDD died, time to replace it with an SSHD.
    Not worth it.
SSHDs are good for systems that require SSD cache like OS drives, etc. Even for them the performance gain isn't that good - while booting it's quick, but when launching apps it slows back down to HDD speed.

Just spend money, get yourself a 1TB SSD or a 4TB WD Black or a similar drive with a large cache and a good spin speed.

What I find most interesting about this is the fact that matching vs. not can make such a difference.  It means that each driver off the line varies quite a bit, which is surprising to me, especially in high-end headphones.  We all like to look up frequency response curves but by the sounds of it, there could be more variance between two drivers of the same model than there might be between two different headphones

If I did my math right, DSD is about twice as good as CD quality as far as raw bandwidth is concerned. :3

DSD uses a sample rate of 2.8224MHz. That's part of the standard.

So the deny all is referring to open/closed ports? You said all routers have that rule in place by default but you don't have to open port 80 when you get a new router just to use the web..

Traffic originating on the internal network, LAN, is allow all by default. Any traffic related to this, inbound traffic from the web, is also allowed since the session was initiated on the LAN. Everything is given a session ID so your router knows who created it, one of your computers or someone external to your network.

Traffic originating from the external network, internet, is deny all by default.

For firewalls the most important thing is the point of origin as that is the basis for which things are assessed.

AstroBenny reacted to Oshino Shinobu in Is MTU setting router or PC sided?
Both. Your MTU setting on the router basically governs all external or external bound traffic and the one on your PC will be for that specific client. I believe the general rule of thumb is to set both to 1500 or just leave it to the system to determine the size to use. If your MTU is larger on your PC than the router, you may end up sending a packet that is too big for your router, so it will have to fragment/segment the packet in order to send it. This *can* slow down the transfer of the packet, but it's generally negligible.

AstroBenny reacted to Volbet in Can I use powered speakers with a portable headphone amp/dac?
Well, the line output would be used with powered speakers, since you're connecting the Q1 to an aleady amped pair of speakers.
The line out circumvents the Q1's amp and just outputs line volume. That means that you can't use the Q1's volume control, so you have to rely on your speakers or Windows for volume control.

AstroBenny reacted to johnt in Why would I want higher impedance DT770 Pro's?
This is super simple to answer when it comes to the 770 line. The 250-ohm version come with the comfiest pads under $200. The 32 and 80 versions come with pseudo leather that is noticeably not as comfortable (I also tried the 80-ohm model and returned it). The comfy velvet pads can be purchased for the lower impedance models, but you just added $35 to your cost. Not to mention, Amazon generally sells the 250-ohm version for close to or less than the lower impedance models. Makes zero sense other than supply and demand I guess.

Also, I purchased a Micca OriGen DAC/Amp combo some time after I purchase my 770s. I use my headphones at work with crappy HP branded computers and while I had no issues with volume specifically, the headphones seemed lackluster. Distortion and sibilance were pronounced even with all Windows and HP sound "enhancements" turned off. The dedicated DAC/Amp made a significant improvement in my case. The bass response was greatly improved, and having a physical volume knob is a huge convenience.

If you want comfort over prolonged periods, the lower weight and open back of the Sennheiser 558 is undeniable. The pads on the DT770-250 are still superior (as is the headband), but open back headphones are a great alternative for prolonged use, as long as they work for your room conditions.

Ok, so my S6 can just about drive about them to uncomfortable levels so I'm guessing they'd be fine with an S7. As for the PC onboard audio, they definitely shouldn't be an issue as there was plenty of room to go, volume wise
