  1. Let us not forget that Roberts was a lead developer for Freelancer and its prequel... he KNOWS how to build space games. he KNOWS how this should be done. He has been watching and sueing the freelancer modding community for YEARS, specifically because they made mods that are now MAGICALLY a core part of SC... Wake up sheeple, its a fucking scam. You got scammed. Roberts is but the nigerian prince of game development
  2. Good riddance. Low quality reviewers need to get rekt.
  3. your anecdotal evidence means shit when we have review upon review upon review upon review of acer devices running dangerously close to TJ-max out of the box.... and what happens 6 months later? dust + wear and tear means it always throttles. Acer has been bad with thermal design on their sub 1500 USD devices. This is just how it is. Maybe they will pick up the slack sooner or later, but for now, they suck. Deal with it and move on.
  4. Lol people. this is ACER.... they skimp so hard on cooling that anything under 1500USD will NEVER EVER hit max frequency without throttling. These laptops are great on paper and terrible in practice. Just wait and see
  5. Sueing a ponzi scheme..... Tell me how that is going to work out for you, Crytek
  6. you do realize that just because a chip CAN reach 5GHz+ doesnt mean it PERFORMS like it "should" at 5GHz+ These scores may very well be true. Cinebench also do NOT report on top turbo speed, it only reads base clock.
  7. not really. Games are using more and more cores/threads. More games are needing more threads. As time goes on, there is no justification to have less cores when multitasking. Our browsers keep using more and more RAM, same with spotify and other streaming services. huge caching
  8. the amount of RAM and core count is more of a limiter if you are trying to multitask. I would love for linus to promote higher rated powersupplies. Owning a RM750 and AX1500i, i KNOW how huge a difference there is on 10% draw. Its NOT negligible. 10% power loss over time sounds little, but given HOW much time most of us spends browsing and doing low intensity shit, its ridiculous not to think of it. And considering you can get Titanium grade PSUs at just 120 bucks (whilst gold is 75-90), well, its a far cry from the days when Titanium grade was at a 250 dollar premium
  9. FX struggles due to its pipeline design, its a scheduler + cache issue 90% of the time.
  10. depends on the code. Yes, in hardware action, it is, as there is fewer steps. Program code wise however, from what i know of coding, which is limited, float takes longer.
  11. no, games are not "hard" riding the FPU. FPU math is slow, much slower then ALU math, simply because the code is slower. You want to use as little FPU math as possible if you want a fast application. You only use floating point when you desire absolute accuracy, as you need lots of decimals.
  12. and thus you invalidated your argument. And your counter argument of me being a hater is well.... provably false, as my posting history will show, at least 4000-5000 posts, or more, is in favor of whatever AMD is doing. But i dont sugar coat their actions and products anymore. Their products need to speak for themselves, and when they aint, they need to be called out on it. Mindlessly supporting and cheering on a product from a company is as anti consumer as you get
  13. doom is also Vulkan, an API where AMD has a clear edge on a driver basis. No need to include benchmarks which is in AMDs favor by default. If AMD had performed poorly in DOOM, it would have been a travesty, given how the rest of their product stack performs
  14. fanboys will always hate those who speak against their ideals
  15. Its all about the source.... Leaks coming from CNN, maybe not worth a shit... Leaks coming from Wikileaks or Snowden - well, they have yet to be proven wrong. May not like their leaks, but they are factual. So again, all depends on the source... Many tech tubers and review sites are lazy, they dont test things properly. They do half baked tests, relying on automation without overseeing the process. That means any misleading optimization on the HW manufacturers side will go unnoticed for a long long while
  16. i have toyed around a lot with APUs, got several of them. It REALLY depends, but generally you see a 8-10 FPS uplift. Now, after looking over HP's site, it appears that they only provide some form of dual channel (2x4GB SODIMM, 1x4GB soldered + 1x8GB SODIMM or 2x 8GB SODIMM)
  17. heard of NDA??? Its what reviewers have to sign up for if they want review samples.. Guess where leaks come from? Reviewers that dont care about the NDA
  18. it interlaces c-states, so that turbo doesnt "hard ramp" from "A to B", but instead gradually reduces clock. At the same time, per core power gating in addition to total chip power algorithms control a +25MHz turbo stepping. There is no official info on whether or not it "locks" at a certain speed like Kaveri and Carrizo does
  19. been 2-3 leaks out already... you can find them on google
