  1. Oh I see what you are saying thank you! I truly felt like I was entering some setting incorrectly… I’m interested in upgrading my setup and basically sticking with the memory and GPU from my current setup. Would there be a type or series of motherboard for the current gen intel chips that you recommend for overclocking without throttling? Given that I have a good cooler ofc.
  2. Hello everyone! So, to introduce my dilemma I believe it's most important to state that I'm using a prebuilt, more specifically, an Alienware Aurora R12 Desktop. As a fair warning, I know nothing about this motherboard except for the fact that it is overclock capable and came from the factory with this setting activated. I have ditched using Dells software, exclusively using it for only fan control (because no other third-party fan control program works). Okay on to the issue at hand, enough precursing. I have been using Intel XTU and learning little by little as I go... The one constant issue I'm facing is that no matter what overclock settings I enter (even factory default), I am consistently getting Current/EDP Limit Throttling almost 100% of the time on load. I understand that my system does run hotter than most (due to the questionable case design) but I have optimized fan control to keep temperatures at a max of 80C-85C even in modern AAA titles like Remnant II. My CPU is able to hit turbo consistently as is, but I imagine there is a lot of performance left on the table here as it has a Max Turbo of 5.00GHz but never been able to get it there or past 4.80GHz... I can only imagine the EDP Limit Throttling is to blame for this. I will attach as much info of my PC Specs and from XTU as possible to aid, please reach out if you need any more information. I would really appreciate if anyone could offer their experience and expertise in order to help me correct what I'm doing wrong here... As well as offer any helpful tips that I can learn along the way! Thank you for taking the time to read this and offering any advice! *As a final note, I have tried using Throttlestop but I'm afraid I'm not educated enough on the topic of overclocking to understand what I'm really doing. I really messed up the CPU behavior at one point and reverted back to XTU out of sheer fear. *The Screenshots of XTU were taken while running COD: Warzone in the background just FYI!~ PC Specs: > Prebuilt Alienware Aurora R12 Intel > Operating System Windows 11 Home 64-bit > CPU Intel Core i7-11700KF @ 3.60GHz (Turbo 2.0 Max 5.00GHz) Skylake Technology > RAM 32.0GB 3200MT > Motherboard Alienware 0P0JWX (U3E1) > Graphics DELL AW2518HF (1920x1080@240Hz) DELL P2319H (1920x1080@60Hz) 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 > Storage 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM008-2FR102 (SATA (SSD)) 476GB NVMe Micron 2300 NVMe 512GB (RAID (SSD))
  3. Awesome! Hope I get lucky! My current peripheral setup: Keyboard: Logitech G105 Mouse: Razer Abyssus 2013 Audio: Bose Companion 2 Series II & a Logitech G230 headset Mouse Pad: Perixx DX-1000L Good luck to all participants
  4. No every other component is working perfectly, my SATA interface on the motherboard is SATA 2 and my disk is SATA 3. I was told that SATA 2 to SATA 3 shouldn't be causing my hard drive to be gimped. I was maybe thinking since I have windows 8.1 rather than 8.1 Pro that Windows might be gimping the harddrive to run at half performance only... At this point iv'e done a lot of searching and no one with my problem has found a solution. Someone pointed out that maybe it has to do with the amount of RAM I have, I have 6GB of 1333Mhz RAM and 1 TB Hard drive. I doubt that my RAM is the problem since iv'e seen other friend's computers and laptops with 2 to 4GB of RAM going over 50% disk performance usage. I wanted to know what you guys think of the RAM statement. (P.S. I really wanted to thank everyone who has helped me)
  5. The problem i'm having isn't about the space I can occupy on the drive, It's the amount of performance usage that my disk isn't able to reach when programs are attempting to use it like a game loading or programs opening. Even though this solution isn't the one for me I still attempted it and it did not solve it.
  6. Alright I did and the highest temp was 46c, but i don't know how that plays into my computer not allowing my hard drive to go over 50% and not getting to top performance. It seems to be a windows issue because SATA 2 ports still allows for 100% usage. Could it be that the Hard Drive is SATA 3 and the mobo SATA 2 thats doing it or windows??
  7. Alrighty so could it be on the software side??
  8. Alright I took a screenshot here is the link: http://prntscr.com/7i3tst
  9. How do I get to SMART data?? idk what that is
  10. So I have seen my computer do this a while ago and its kept on capping my Disk Usage at only 50%, it has never gone over that percent. I taught this was normal so I let it be, until I noticed extreme disk performance drops while playing games and even on the desktop. Now i'm starting to think its because of this strange 50% only cap, I have no clue what is not letting my disk go over 50% usage. I have already cleaned up junk and it's defrangemented, plus it's only 1 year old with little heavy use except recently. Is it a Windows problem, or is it a hardware issue?? Please Help!! Hard Drive: Seagate ST31000524AS (1 TB only 310 GB used up, and its very well cleaned and organized)
  11. I've always wondered if its possible to fuse the integrated graphics from an Intel CPU with a Nvidia Graphics Card, I've heard of AMD crossfire using the AMD CPU graphics to help the AMD GPU. Is is possible with Intel and Nvidia?? Why or Why not? (Just super curious) Thanks for your time
  12. Do you think an upgrade to a i5-3470 might stop the bottle neck? http://ark.intel.com/products/68316/Intel-Core-i5-3470-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz
  13. So I recently have have been witnessing low FPS on games that before never had low frames. I checked what was causing this and noticed that my CPU usage in game is always higher than the GPU. This is odd because I never have seen that happen to my computer... I tested other games that I know have never had that problem and now the CPU works harder than the GPU. This is causing some seriously low FPS and my CPU to get hotter than usual. I tried to re install nvdia's drivers and intel's drivers. I have also updated my BIOS, opened my PC cleaned it up (wasn't dirty to begin with) made sure the PSU is working properly (it is). This is stressing me out bad and I would really appreciate help. Intel i3-2130 EVGA GTX 660 SC 8 GB RAM 500 W PSU (This is the first time it happens in my 2 years with these specs)
  14. Due to GTA V for PC being released soon, I've been seriously considering upgrading my EVGA GTX 660 SC 2gb (goo.gl/xde0OV) to the new EVGA GTX 960 (http://goo.gl/G4QYmF). I was just wondering if I would gain any performance from his upgrade or if just not worth it. I really want to play games in 1080p with 60fps but thats just not possible with new games on the GTX 660 anymore so I want a little help figuring out if the GTX 960 is able to that Thanks
