  1. Superlux HD668B can be found on amazon for <40 USD. Great analytical sound with a decently wide soundstage. Open back headphones are great for gaming and listening to music too.
  2. Hey Guys, I listen to music a lot and I want to upgrade from some standard Phillips earbuds to some nice cans. I listen to Progressive Metal bands like The Contortionist, CHON and The Helix Nebula. Occasionally I listen to heavier Djent bands like Periphery, Animals as Leaders and Volumes. Lastly I like to indulge in some Metalcore like Dead by April, Escape the Fate and The Fall of Troy. I want an over-ear headphone with nice sound isolation and not too much sound bleed so I can listen to music loud on the bus and so that I can hear music over the sound of my drums. They need to sound great without an amp (will be powered by my smartphone). Right now I'm looking at the Audio Technica ATH M50X's as they are known to sound great with any genre of music. Price range is $200-250 NZD. The M50X's are $230~. Any recomendations for over-ear headphones that sound great listening to Progressive Metal without an amp and are good for travel (buses), please leave the below =) Thanks!
  3. Hey guys, This is my second PC build, just asking for people's opinions before I order the parts. Budget is $1850~ New Zealand Dollars for the parts themselves (no OS needed), a backlit mechanical keyboard, and a 1080P IPS monitor. Using PriceSpy, an equivalent of PCPartPicker with more options. Prerequisites: - Quiet (will be on 24/7 because it will double as a home server) - Low power consumption (see above) - Capable of playing "Triple A" titles at 1080P at medium to high settings - Portable (need to move around the house sometimes). Silverstone SG13 is pretty much locked in. - Large HDD for home server + SSD for boot and programs Games I want to play are Metro: Last Light Redux, Far Cry 4 and GTA V. I will also use NDS, PS2 and GBA emulators a lot with resolutions turned up. What I have at the moment: http://pricespy.co.nz/list.php?l=165567&view=m - Comes to $1850 when shipping is considered. Please give your opinions on what I should change, if anything. I will use PCPartPicker to check compatibility of parts but I'm using PriceSpy for pricing because it takes into account more online stores in NZ. Thanks ^.^
  4. Hi guys, I have a stock NZXT fan at the back of of my source 210 elite case exhausting air. Whenever I turn the PC on it makes a rattling/vibrating noise. I don't know what the problem is because I use rubber mounts which are supposed to stop vibrations. Whats odd is that after I'm logged in an everything is all loaded and stuff the rattling/vibration stops and its back to normal fan operation. It there any way I can stop this from happening because it is very loud and annoying :c Thanks
  5. Looking at this motherboard for mATX build http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H97M%20Pro4/ In the spec's it says "multi-speed control" for fans and temperature sensing n stuff like that. I wanna know if i can manually dial in an rpm for a fan to spin at. My fans will be plugged into the motherboard headers not the power supply so I should have voltage control but I want to make sure because I love having all fan mounts used but also like a silent system so if I could chuck em all at around 900 rpm that would be sick. Thanks ^.^
  6. Not entirely sure what is happening with DX12's release. Is it using the CPU more or less? Don't know whether to spend more on CPU and downgrade GPU or other way around. Does it have a distinguishable performance increase with more CPU threads? Somebody halp D: Thanks ^.^
  7. Don't bother sli'ing, go with single GTX 980. Especially in a compact case you do NOT want to be adding more heat.
  8. Grab an A10 7850 APU and overclock it a bit. You don't need 200+ fps because you will be limited by your monitor refresh rate and well.... your eyes. The APU will max out all of those games 60+ fps @ 1080p. 2133mhz RAM is pretty cheap too, pair that with the APU and you are sorted.
  9. AOC i2367FH http://www.amazon.com/AOC-i2367Fh-23-Inch-Frameless-LED-Lit/dp/B009V8F700/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430527370&sr=8-1&keywords=aoc+ips It's 1080p and IPS. Pretty low response time and has a matte finish (non glossy).
  10. Hackintosh worth it?

  11. Requires more graphical horsepower, of which the consoles lack.
  12. Going to build a new rig in the Silverstone Raven RVZ02 which should be out by July. Would go with the Noctua NH L9i but even though it's silent and has great performance I can't handle the colour scheme. Does anyone know if the BQ Shadow Rock LP will be out by July? If not I might go for the Noctua cooler and chuck a better looking fan on it... Any suggestions for replacement PWM 92mm fans? Preferably quiet and look nice.
  13. Building a new gaming PC in the Silverstone Raven RVZ01. Stock fan(s) - Silverstone 120mm Slim @ 18dB Additional Fan - Nanoxia Deep Silence 120mm PWM @ 16.9 dB CPU Cooler - Cooling the Intel Core i5 4690S, Noctua LH-L9i @ 14.8 dB (with L.N.A) GPU - Asus GTX 750 Ti Strix OC @ 0dB HDD - Western Digital Green 4TB @ 28dB PSU - Silverstone ST45SF-G @ 18dB Of course, the system is only as quiet as the most noisy component in the PC. Therefore, my PC should be 28dB at max load. Is this silent or close to it? Can anyone with a PC around 30 dB explain how loud this would sound about 40cm away from me on my desk? Thanks ^.^
  14. So I'm thinking of building a console killer PC inside the Silverstone Raven. Its two installed fans are default in intake for overall positive airflow hence less dust build up. However these fans are right on top of the CPU cooler and GPU exhaust fans. Wouldn't this just cause the intake air clashing with the exhaust from the CPU and GPU coolers and creating a big mess and bad cooling? I was thinking of making all 3 of the slots (1 on top of CPU and 2 on top of GPU) as exhausts since the case comes with dust filters anyway. Would this provide better airflow or will it be even worse than the intakes being over the CPU/GPU exhausts. If it matters the GPU I will most likely use is the Strix 750 Ti. Thanks C:
  15. The people who were planning to bomb on Anzac Day were also 14 years old...
  16. New Zealand. Even though our exchange rate isn't THAT weak its probably tariffs or something that make our prices bs. Sticking with Paradigm PC's because I got the parts for my last build from them and their customer service was great when I ordered my parts. Also it's the ease of just ordering from 1 website rather than 3 or 4 to worry about.
  17. So, wait a little longer and get this? Don't mind the 4TB HDD, its for the home server >.< PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($299.73 @ Paradigm PCs) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i 57.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($74.16 @ Paradigm PCs) Motherboard: ASRock B85M-ITX Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($131.84 @ Paradigm PCs) Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($109.18 @ Paradigm PCs) Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($95.79 @ Paradigm PCs) Storage: Western Digital Green 4TB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive ($248.23 @ Paradigm PCs) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 2GB Video Card ($361.53 @ Paradigm PCs) Case: Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX Tower Case ($80.34 @ Paradigm PCs) Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($121.54 @ Paradigm PCs) Total: $1522.34 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-04-18 14:05 NZST+1200
  18. Building an ITX rig for LAN parties. Wondering whether I should use the 7850K as a CPU instead of the i5 to save $100 and put towards a better GPU. The 2 possibilities are: 1) i5 4590 + GTX 750 Ti / Radeon R7 260X 2) A10 7850K + GTX 960 / Radeon R9 270X I will only be using this for gaming so I don't need outstanding CPU performance but at the same time I don't want to bottleneck the GPU. Is using the 7850K as a CPU along with a stronger GPU a better choice than an i5 with a weaker GPU. Will be playing games at 1080p. Thanks ^.^
  19. This is my download speed My downloads go fast, YouTube can load 4k videos without stuttering and games are smooth. The only thing is that I can't watch Twitch streams in High/Source quality. If it helps I have Better TTV installed but I don't think that's the problem. If anyone has advice to speed up my Twitch streams that would be greatly appreciated
