moity reacted to LRC350 in New System Build (windows/driver errors)
It's also known that Realtek can conflict with Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio.
Go to Device Manager>System Devices> look for MIcrosoft UAA Bus Driver For High definition audio.
Right click on it and click Disable.
Go to Add/Remove Programs and locate the Realtek HD audio Driver. Remove it and don't reboot the system.
Go back to Device Manager and uninstall the disabled Microsoft UAA bust Driver for High Definition audio. Again don't reboot the system after doing so.
Reinstall the realtek HD audio Driver. From here http://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/Z97S-SLI-Krait-Edition.html#down-driver&Win10 64 I linked Windows 10 64bit, May have to change it to match your system and OS. Ignore the "Found new hardware wizard". After installation is complete, reboot the system.

Go ahead and do a little research on TLC and MLC NAND. It'll give you a good idea of what to expect when your looking for SSDs later on!

This depends what they are used for, just like HDD's. I have a similar SSD (PNY Optima) In my old gaming build that survived 3 windows 7 installs and the windows 10 upgrade, plus many game installs and uninstalls, still chugging along. Youll always hear horror stories, but it's served me well for almost 2 or 3 years now.

moity reacted to dizmo in Amazon-SanDisk Internal SSD 240GB 2.5-Inch $59.99
It's slow, compared to other SSDs.
Still miles ahead of an HDD though.
HDD's lives are longer. SSD's have a limited number of writes that can be done to them, after that performance takes a serious hit and the flash memory degrades.
However, you usually have to write massive amounts of data to a drive before this happens, so it's not even something I'd worry about. You'll easily see 10 years plus of regular use out of an SSD, and you'll (hopefully) have long upgraded before you reach that point. This is, of course, getting significantly better as technology improves.

moity got a reaction from bastyra in [NewEgg US] Deals and rebates on Asus Z97/Z170 boards
When I searched for a motherboard (keep in mind this is my first time building a PC and learning about all the components) I found that you won't find a good reliable ATX board for anything but around 100$. You don't need a "gaming" motherboard that has all those add-ons. Just find a reliable motherboard for the socket you need. The lowest price I found for what seems like a mostly reliable board was the MSI Z97 PC MATE - around 80$-90$. If you want a built in wireless card be sure it has that integrated. Most wireless cards are around 30 - 70$.
This is what I found/did anyway - I didn't do much research on boards lol mostly I just wanted a reliable board

The i5 4690k went on sale for 200$ when I decided to randomly look around on amazon once. This was back in June when it was around 250$+
I'm not sure why it's saying 209$ now - I was billed 200$

moity got a reaction from S1dology in Airflow design in Carbide 300R
as long as you have this going on:
you should be fine.
I'm going to be using a 300R as well and I was planning to direct my CPU cooler (be quiet! PURE ROCK) to direct air out the back and put the rear stock fan to the top so it would exhaust air up. Then put a second fan alongside the stock front fan to help intake/push more air. But then I found a deal and decided to put two intake upfront and 2 rear exhaust - 1 in the back 1 uptop. After about 3-4 fans in a case it seems the temperature doesn't change by much.
