First I'm amazed LTT loaded fine, second please DMZ that shit if you're browsing the web.
  2. W3schools is pretty bad and out of date but regardless the point is rather valid as others have demonstrated. I will say I'm working a Go package that has a few global variables but they're only used within the package and can't be accessed from outside of it if you were to import the package.
  3. That's because Go statically links libraries, OP could probably just statically build nano as well but I'm not familiar with that process for C/C++.
  4. I use DDG and am definitely not in that category, quite the opposite. I don't think we really should further proceed into that topic though but I wanted to give you a counter point. I can definitely see your PoV though.
  5. The main limitation for RISC architectures, and therefore ARM, in my opinion has been memory. RISC requires faster and more RAM than CISC (aka x86) processors because the machine code for a given program is larger. RISC has much simpler instruction sets than CISC, which uses more specialized instructions, so as stated the required amount of machine code increases to perform a given task. Back when both architectures were originally developed, RAM was not cheap in the usage sense. You had to really optimize your code to use the least amount of RAM since you were so limited. Since CISC uses less RAM than RISC, it made much more sense to use it back then and it has remained the status quo. Nowadays RAM is much more cheap, there is a lot more available and it is a lot faster which is perfect for RISC which has allowed for serious development of processor designs that can begin to rival x86, Apple's M1 for example. I think both have their own uses but the software for RISC is still lagging behind the hardware development so I think it will still be some time before it's able to truly compete but it's getting close. I think it would be interesting to see if a RISC processor would be able to truly compete with the math processing power of AVX instructions eventually.

Oh no, I'm falling into the Sway WM rabbit hole. Wayland is just too smooth compared to X.

    If you know, you know.

  7. Once you use the clean and restart option of DisplayDriverUninstaller (https://www.wagnardsoft.com/), you can just do the default for the nvidia driver installer.
  8. Yeah just download from Nvidia after using that application. Sometimes there are issues when you upgrade a GPU and don't do a complete reinstall of the drivers.
  9. I recommend uninstalling your Nvidia drivers using Dispay Driver Uninstaller and installing fresh. Your PSU is way overkill already.

Bitwarden is really good but just never forget your vault password because then you're royally fucked.

Linux Kernel 5.10 is so fucking cursed, can't go a session without the GPU locking up. Can't use the LTS kernel either because I need 5.7+ for my hardware. Thankfully 5.11 "Valentines Day Edition"  is out so maybe that will fix it but I recall the development cycle for it being rather rocky so maybe not.

This just about sums up my anime habits.

  14. A semi-known issue with my PCB and metal cases where static cam jump between the case and PCB. I was generating a lot of static last night I think. Saw a pretty bright flash when I was putting my solder sucker back on my shelf and accidentally touched a heat sink that was also on the shelf.

Well the PCB in my 65% keyboard kicked the bucket so here I am using my Lily58 Pro finally which I haven't really used at all so I suck at typing/using it. For reference it took me several minutes to type this which is mostly from the ortholinearness of it.

I almost killed my R7 240 GPU today trying to install it back into my DELL Inspiron 530S system and it refused to sync to my monitor.  But the GPU wasn't clicking in the PCIe x16 slot correctly.  Then I manage to fix it by putting more force down it click in.  And all I did was replace the GPU heatsink cover back on because I removed the WiFi Card because it was blocking the fan.

      Sorry about your keyboard....Ooooof

Ubuntu dependencies are insane. Oh want to install the Qt libraries? Here have 90% of the packages needed for Gnome too because why the fuck not.

I love it when I'm trying to build or run something and it tells me what I'm doing has dependencies but doesn't tell me what those dependencies are.

Google to the rescue, even though that fails me half the time as well. 😠

Used a card terminal yesterday where you had to put the chip in first to authorize using tap. What's even the point in supporting tap then?? I'm fairly certain I've used that exact terminal model elsewhere that didn't require that.

  19. I don't believe Handbrake supports muxing at all so it will always force a re-encode, as the developers state it's outside the scope of the program (https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/issues/264#issuecomment-233147775).

  21. Yes I know, I said GMMK bare bones as in regular GMMK.
  22. I have a custom keyboard that is similar to the GMMK Pro in that it has south LEDs, except on a few specific keys, and a high profile case. It gives a nice backlight but I don't use translucent legends, solid keycaps here. I'd say most of the nicer keycaps out there don't have translucent legends. GMMK bare bones is a pretty basic keyboard and nothing real special going for it other than price. Doesn't support QMK/VIA firmware. Drop CTRL is more expensive but does support QMK/VIA firmware which allows for greater customization of the keys.
