The colours on my monitor (Samsung 43" M7) look so much better and natural when connected to my Macbook Air via USB C than when I'm connecting to my desktop. A note is that I'm connecting to my desktop to my r9 290x GPU via a display port to HDMI adapter. So the HDMI is connected to the monitor and the DP adapter is on the GPU. Any thoughts on what's causing this difference in colour? The GPU? DP-HDMI Adapter? Cable? Basically the monitor looks too saturated and too much contrast with my desktop

Hi all, Not sure if this is the right forum but I want to clear out my SSDs because it's a mess and I recently added more storage (just wanna start off clean). If I just reformat the SSD with Windows would I lose the windows or can I reformat it whilst keeping windows? This is for a desktop that I built not a laptop.

Where do you guys get your music from? Personally I use Spotify Premium anyone have any better suggestions?

I don't hate Apple the company as much as I hate their fans. The ones who buys Apple because they are Apple and lately Apple themselves seems to have been really embracing this and just screwing the industry (ex. 1000 dollar iPhone). Most people I know / see with apple products like the Macbooks and iPhones don't need such a device. They don't use it any where close to it's full potential yet they spend ridiculous amounts of money on it and there seems to just be endless amounts of these people. So many college/university students have macbooks but their areas of study really only requires them to have a laptop to write essays. It's ridiculous that anyone would buy a thousand dollar essay writing machine even if it does look good. With iPhones it's more like most people would probably be more than fine getting something like a oneplus 5t or even just 1 gen older yet everyone can't wait for the newest Apple tech going as far as lining up for 1st release of a freaking 1000 dollar phone further encouraging Apple to just screw the industry and the rest of us. My point is it just seems like Apple can do the most outlandish anti-consumer practices and still be on top in terms of profit because of their fan.

Hi guys, I have a beyerdynamic DT 770 but haven't really been noticing too much of a difference compared to $20 headphones/earphones. It's able to output sound and is actually always loud enough at around 25% volume on my desktop, laptop, and even phone. Would an amp help the sound quality in this case?

I'm searching for a programming laptop and I'm pretty interested in the New Dell Inspiron 15 5000 gaming laptop. It's got 512 GB PCIE SSD, 16 GB of RAM, and i7 7700 HQ and the price seems pretty darn good. Anyone have any info regarding the screen, cooling, and typing experience? The dell page gives you so little info. Or if anyone is from Canada specifically around the GTA does anyone know if there's a store that sells this so I can test it in person?

Do you guys know how the 8th gen U-series processors compare to 7th gen HQ- series ? Debating whether I should get an 8th gen laptop or a 7th gen gaming laptop

I'm going to go into programming in college next year and need to upgrade my laptop. My budget is around 1000 Canadian as the title says (I can go a bit over but not too much). I don't need to get it until December technically but probably aiming to get it around black Friday for better deals. I know the 8th gen intel processors are out but does anyone know how that compares to the HQ processors on gaming laptops? I don't mind if the laptop is a little heavy either but i'd like for it to have at least 256 SSD. Other than programming I would just do light gaming (overwatch probably the most intensive) and do some light room editing every now and then.

I'm still super new with programming, Would the files get that big that I would need 1 TB of SSD? cause in laptops anything above 256 GB is pretty pricy at least here in Canada

Hey guys, I'm going to be going into programming this coming year and I need to upgrade my laptop. My budget is around $1000 Canadian. I've seen a few pretty good deals online but I'm not sure how beneficial certain specs are for programming. I'm also a gamer but I already have a pretty decent desktop for triple A titles I'd probably only mostly use my laptop for lighter games like Overwatch, League of Legends, Left Dead. So here's the questions: 1. Would the new 8th gen kaby lake processors be a significant upgrade from 7th gen processors (most of the 7th gen processors I'm also looking at gaming notebooks so they're the HQ series while all the 8th gen processors right now are U series, Also been seeing i7 8th gens around the same price as i5 7th gens) 2. Do I really need a graphics card? (been seeing a lot of good deals on GTX 1050 laptops around the price range but usually comes at the cost of an i7 processor) 3. I really want it to be using SSD as storage, would 256 GB SSD be enough or should I get a combo of 128 GB SSD + 1TB HDD ? ** I don't care too much about weight and size but lighter would be nice as i'd be carrying it around for a good chunk of the day

So I do photography as a hobby and have been wanting to also go into video. I have a pretty old entry level Canon Eos Rebel T5. It does the job most of the time and I have a few lenses for it (10-18mm, 18-250mm, and 50mm F/1.8). But it's starting to get limited in focus points and ISO and as I mentioned I want to get into video. I know mirrorless are better for video, I just feel that with all the lenses I've invested in it might be a waste to go for mirrorless, at the same time if i buy a new DSLR ~1000 CAD it might be a waste in the future. What do you guys think, should I go for mirrorless and start building my kit for it now or get a DSLR? Planning to purchase these around June/ July.

Hey guys, I recently purchased a beyerdynamic DT 770 250 ohms as it was a pretty good deal on amazon canada but so far I haven't noticed a huge difference between this and my stock earphones i was using. I don't currently have a DAC or AMP but the sound is coming through fine with my motherboard. Am I just not listening to music from the right source ? I'm mostly just listening to youtube for now. Or do i just need to get used to it ?

Hi guys, I'm planning to build a budget desktop (~ 500 CAD) for some entry level digital art work. Pretty much just going to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for digital sketching and painting. I've built a gaming PC before and that is GPU intensive but I'm not sure if photoshop/ illustrator would be GPU or CPU intensive? I'm not working with a lot of money for this build so need to focus money on one. Also if it is CPU intensive what do you guys think of just not using a GPU for now? Also probably will be building this in the new year so ZEN might be out.

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy some good entry level audiophile headphones. I know some of the ones that cost 150+ will need a dac or amp so I've budgeted around 250 Canadian. Any suggestions for good headphone / dac pairings. They will be used mostly at home on my desktop. I listen to mostly early/mid 2000 punk rock and acoustic stuff. Open /closed back doesn't matter.

I've had experience building a gaming desktop but I'm not sure what to focus my resources on for this kind of build. Should I spend the most on graphics card or CPU? How much RAM should I put and SSD vs. HDD?

Hey guys, This might be a dumb question but I have a lot of USB powered peripherals and I'm starting to run on of ports from my desktop. Would I be able to run my peripherals off of a connection to a USB hub or are they strictly for file transfers ? Also any other suggestions ?
