  1. Alright so, i just got a laptop im thinking of turning into a low power linux Media storage server/game server host, (if the laptop i5 can handle it) but the laptops LCD panel is dead from a drop it suffered from its previous owner. While for now im using the motherboards HDMI port, i would like to see if there is a daughter board that can plug into the ZIF connector on the motherboard for the LCD, and has one if not all outputs: HDMI, DVI, DP, VGA. also kinda want to know if this exists for testing laptops display output as i do work on them from time to time.
  2. I don't think pushing it to the 4.5 i think i can get would really help at this point. Like its to the point i have to close any browser i have open cause the tiny bit of CPU they use idling is causing fairly large FPS drops. and while i would blame this on chrome, Firefox and Edge all have issues if i have more than 3 tabs open. That's also part of the reason I'm asking about hyper threading is cause on other games, i cant even have something like youtube video going, causes FPS drops and makes youtube freeze.
  3. Well i do have a 4.2 Ghz OC on it, but its usually stable temps gaming in the mid to upper 60's when its being maxed out on Div 2
  4. So im curious how much of a difference Hyper threading on slightly older Intel CPU would make for gaming. Right now im currently running an i5 4670k on an Asus Z87-Plus and on games like Division 2 and a few others I'm starting to bottleneck my 1080Ti. A friend of mine has a 4770/4790K that they said if i ever come visit i could swap my 4670K with since they are using the i7 in a server. So thats what im curious about, would swapping to the i7 benefit me all that much, or would i only see like a minimal increase?
  5. SO, Thought id ask quickly, does anyone know or have experience with swapping out Nvidia GPU's and their drivers? Do you need to uninstall the drivers first and reinstall them or are nvidia's drivers pretty good about detecting the swap just fine?
  6. Mostly saving on shipping, the price was the same (though it showed on amazon as being marked down $10) but you had to pay for both tax and shipping on iFixit's site, and the LTT code barely covered the tax.
  7. Honestly, if i were them, i would make the price a bit lower on their site, or give your codes like $5-15 off instead of the percent depending on the item, or something. I know it still supporting them from amazon, just not as much as their own site. And i dont know what you guys get from Amazon vs ifixit
  8. ah thank you, will remember that you can do that for the future.
  9. So i just went and bought an iFixit pro kit, and wanted to let people and LMG know so they can talk to iFixit. It was cheaper and better shipping for me to go buy the kit off amazon with Prime shipping, than to go through ifixit's website and buy it with a promo code that LMG gets as a sponsor. Doesn't bother me (used the LMG amazon link to buy it) but i thought i would give people a heads up and maybe LMG too so they can tell iFixit (cause i'm sure they would much prefer it if people bought them off their site and not amazon)
  10. Friend and I were talking about this and he suggested TrackMeNot. Not a VPN but it floods your search queries with random shit, so it becomes very hard to figure out who you are.
  11. Ah, ok. Definitely does after i downloaded it. There wasn't anything that i say when i quickly glanced at the app store page the first time about this. Thank you.
  12. I looked at Power Toggles and its not bad, but iv pretty much got that all covered by widgets thanks to HD Widgets, be it slightly less room saving them Power Toggles. But i would much rather have then in the swipe down notifications area like (using this as an example here) the Samsung S5 does.
  13. Hello, i had a question to see if anyone here with a android phone other than Samsung (or others that might include this by default) has or knows if it is possible to add in the phone settings like wifi and gps options to the notifications drop down area on other android devices. I currently have a Moto Droid Maxx and wanted to add this do i don't have to use widgets on a page to accomplish the same thing.
