Seem fine, but not really worth while, you could keep things like your current Mobo and ram and save a hundred or so, then maybe look at a 2070 or something along those lines

I was trying to go for a build what would look nice too as atm none of my parts or anything match.

Umm I don't think 120GB is enough for ANY gaming rig nowadays. That is, unless you already have a high-capacity hard drive from your previous build.

Yeah sorry, I've got 2 1tb ssd that will be going into it

Very much. I mean how are "suspicions of China gathering info" by the USA with no evidence ever having been presented worse than knowing for sure that the USA have been doing that for decades?

If you're an American and you're happy with potentially giving info to your government but just want it not to be another one then maybe, but for everyone else it comes out as pretty ridiculous.

Thank you, I'm from the UK so its not as bad here but just wanted a second opionion

I've had several Huawei products including my current phone and always found them very well built and thought out.Had one of their previous laptops in hand in a store and it seemed great.

Only drawback right now is a stupid redhead's tantrum limiting some of the functionality for phones, but that wouldn't apply to laptops (and I've got GMS sideloaded on my phone anyway, there's always a way).

So you think all the stuff in the news is a bit over the top?

  6. hey guys

I'm doing a little mini project atm where im building a website and im trying to get it to open a program installed on the machine but I cannot find anywhere online that tells me how.

It just doesn't make a lot of sense, is all.

A basic soundbar is essentially a "cabinet" that already holds 2 speakers in a 2.0 configuration. You can of course buy more expensive soundbars that expand on that (2.1 being the most common upgrade, where it's a sounbar (2.0) + a sub connected either via a cable or over wireless - they also make 5.1 soundbars that are 3.0 (2.0 + centre channel) + a sub + 2 rear speakers, usually wireless).

You could "in theory" take a soundbar and use it in conjunction with 2 external speakers, but you'd either have to splice cables, buy adapters that splice them, or use something like an AV Receiver to connect them all together.

In a situation like you describe there's not much benefit to adding speakers to the sides of the monitors. The soundbar will already handle stereo left and right sound, and you're better off getting a more powerful soundbar rather than adding 2 external speakers and trying to figure out how to splice them into the audio source.

You could get a 5.1 soundbar setup, where you would have the Soundbar itself, which contains the Centre channel plus front left and front right stereo channels. Then there would be a sub, usually wireless, and then there would be rear left and rear right speakers, also usually wireless. You'd need somewhere to stick the rear speakers mind you (A wall or stands, and most likely would require a power outlet). 5.1 soundbars like this are not cheap though - especially good sounding ones.

So, my next question is: What's your budget? You should probably just get the best soundbar you can afford in your budget and call it a day.

Thanks for all the info, appreciate you taking your time to type all that.

Budget would be around the £250 GBP

Why do you want a soundbar with 2 speakers? What configuration do you want out of that? How will you be arranging the setup in the room?

It was just an idea I had, if you think it wouldn't work can you suggest something similar or better?

I don't have a lot of room so the soundbar was going inbetween my two monitors that are mounted vertically (one above the other) and the two speakers on the wall either side of the top monitor.

    Can you clarify your request?

Are you looking to buy a single system that has a soundbar and 2 speakers?

Two different systems? One a soundbar, and a separate system with 2 speakers?

Or are you looking at different options for the same system - a soundbar OR 2 speakers?

Preferably a single system that has a soundbar and 2 speakers but I would also be open to two different systems that I would be able to use at the same time.

  10. 2 minutes ago, Bombastinator said:

So two separate systems?  Sound bars generally take the place of front stereo speakers unless you’re trying to do 5.1 surround.  If you are you may need 3 speakers one of which is a powered sub.  Bright side is for 5.1 surround any junk speaker will work for the last two.  They just need to be the same.

Not looking for surround or anything in particular, it going to mainly be for music or when watching movies when I don't want to wear my headphones.

Do you suggest any speakers and/or soundbar?

  11. Hi Guys

Looking for a lapboard to use as I don't have a desk or the room for a desk.

I like the look of the Roccat Sova but everywhere is out of stock and/or are not getting any back in stock.

Can you advise on any others? I've looked at the Corsair Lapdog and the Razer Turrent but I don't like the idea of no wrist rest.

    Thanks

(In the UK if that is important)

The 1660 ti would probably give you another 30-40% performance boost.

If you can afford it, I'd definitely go that route- but if you are trying to save the 580 is an awesome card for the price-point.

If you're looking at changing the motherboard again, stay far away from A320 boards, they're pretty bad.

    Thanks for your help

Here's some changes to save you some even more money.

The 580 is a great 1080p card. Do you not need any storage?

    Thank you :)

What's the performance difference between the 1660 and the 580?

And I've already got the storage :)

  14. Hey guys

What do you think of this?

Trying to be as cheap as possible while getting semi decent performance at 1080p

(No storage as I've already got it)

  15. Hey guys

So I'm looking for somewhere to get modern film downloads on the cheap for my plex server.

I'll get hate but I was torrenting but now hardly anyone is seeding them these days so I need to find something better.

Anyone got any ideas of where I can get the new dvd releases cheap

    TIA

you want to use rufus to put it on a usb, you can't just copy a iso to a usb and boot from it.

How do I use rufus? I've downloaded it but their website dont really tell you much

You may need a way to power it if the switch port isn't PoE but outside of that nothing makes it proprietary to Ubiquiti switches. We're not talking about CISCO here.

    Yeah its POE.

    Thanks for your help
