Guys, get a grip of the reality. LMG has more integrity than 90% of the youtube space, if not more. Linus Media Group, Gamers Nexus, Jay Z and all of the others are the top 10% of the creators and if you want to be unfair you can put LMG on the botton of this top 10%. But, don't be crazy, they are not even close to the other 90%.

Agreed. I also have an issue how he constantly bashes the idea of being a fan of a company due to the inherent fact that a company exists for the sole purpose of making money, yet he never really calls himself out for also having similar motives. I don't think he does it maliciously, but I feel he is somewhat blind to the idea that he could do evil simply because he knows deep down he intends not to do evil. He says we're the boss and that he has us covered, but at the end of the day priority number 1 is actually his employees and the business, which is how all the quality control issues even manifested to begin with, and how he could think it was a good idea to not retest the water block to save a few hundred bucks and employee time.

I don't think this makes him a selfish person. He clearly cares about his employees to the point he is always late for WAN Show because he doesn't want his employees to fall behind because of him. But the motivating factor is the employees and making us happy is just the means by which he is able to support his employees.

@Kresnik-02 Well, i try, i just could watch it now that people here posted the link for streamable and i am in 20mins now. But tbf the topic is very dry. It wouldn´t acutally matter who i listen to talking about internal policies. It would always be a pain.

Why does GN need an apology from LMG? What the Lab tech said was correct; Both GN and HWUB use previously acquired data when testing new hardware like a new GPU.
So when they test a new GPU like the 7800XT when it comes out, they're both going to use previous FPS testing from months ago for the other GPU's in the chart.
 
 
The labs is going to re-test the other hardware with latest drivers every time they get something new to test.
EDIT: And if Gamer's Nexus or Hardware Unboxed didn't like this comment, then maybe instead of getting pissy and making a video attacking LTT, they should instead take a step back, take some time to figure out how to match what the Labs is trying to do, or STFU about it.

Yeah, and it works on a personal level too. Like with film stars. They know that a person doesn't want to meet THEM. They want to meet their favorite characters. And the actor knows "but that's not me, so I'd rather not even meet them". When people want to meet a personality from something parasocial the famous person has to always be taxed by "this person doesn't want to meet me, they want to meet 'screen me'".

Even someone feeling like they know Linus (or whoever) by watching him on WAN show really just means you know "who" Linus is WITH Luke. He is completely different with other people as everybody is. If you aren't Luke, you won't get THAT Linus. So to meet him and think, "I kind of know him". That's not right. Actually you know him decently well except you know him WITH Luke. Human minds and relationships are far too complex for parasocial to have even the slightest grasp on reality. 

So you multiply it being a person who is a spearhead of something so large X it being parasocial and it is fairly naive for someone like the gentleman in the video to expect much warmth or a real connection from a Linus. That's not Linus's fault. That's his for expecting the unrealistic.

I say this as someone who a general distaste for the sacrifice that someone like that makes, speaking for myself personally. It's too costly to have that much ambition, in any arena. Period. Whether looking at a Steve Jobs who was a terrible father, due largely to absence thru ambition, or a Patrick Stewart who was a terrible husband and father through the TNG years for the exact same reason. These are two opposite type people and yet they both shared extreme ambition. Stewart has spoken openly of his regret and I expect Jobs might have been the same. Mega ambition (in any area) and relationships with people don't mix. I personally lost the first two years of my son's life while chasing wild VC. Looking back, it SO wasn't worth it.

The true sadness of all of this is the chance of LTT cutting most of the fun of their videos for corporate safety. Even the behind the scenes stuff will have to change because it was used as ammo on this hit piece. "Tech Jesus", hope you really take a good and forever bump in views after this to be worth.

Been watching LTT from the original house days. Billet labs are opportunists who changed their tune the moment they got a bad review. They are currently selling their 'prototype' for $800 on their website for anyone to buy. Also, who doesn't follow up on an important email if you don't get a reply?

GN is just upset that LTT is blowing them out of the water and their faux 'I'm doing this for the community' attitude shouldn't be fooling anyone.

I'm sorry that Madison had to go through what was clearly very tough for her. However, she clearly has neither the emotional maturity nor the grit to survive at a top-rate media production company like LMG. If somebody is doing something you don't like, the first step is always to address it with them directly... unless there is a real danger of professional or physical retaliation. If they don't stop, then you can take it up with HR. If LMG is responsible for anything, it is making a hiring mistake.

Over the course of the Gamers Nexus video, Steve repeatedly blames Linus Tech Tips for not making corrections in their videos when inaccurate information was included, whether for various benchmarking charts, or a simple situation as the plastic coverings on the feet of the pwnage mouse.
 
And yet, over the past couple days, after we have seen the email chain where it has become very obvious that Billet Labs gave the waterblock to LTT with no expectation of ever getting back - we have the image screenshot, in writing, from their rep that LTT was supposed to keep the waterblock - he has not added that clarification to his own video, after making the clear implied accusation that Linus failed to return property which was not his.
 
Turns out, the property was his, and his team was, out of the goodness of their hearts, returning something that had been surrendered to them completely. 
 
To not include this detail in his video in any format - comment, caption, voiceover, what have you, is direct hypocrisy.  It doesn't matter if the rest of his video was correct - and it is.  That simple act is hypocritical, and that means even if he is correct in this situation, he is not right.
 
He did not make that video for altruistic reasons.  He did not make it to improve the journalistic and testing standards of tech youtube as a whole.
 
He made the video because he saw an opportunity to (once again, correctly) disparage a competitor and he knew, as long as he didn't make himself blatantly obvious that he isn't following his own rules, nobody was going to call him on it.
 
You are playing directly into that strategy and it has worked so well on you I shudder to think what happens when you see actual political debates and other things that actually matter.

Actually no, inaccurate testing and misrepresenting products have been complained about in comments of LMG videos for some time now.
 
Of course the whole Billet Labs thing SOUNDS worse when you use words like THEFT or STEAL but there was definitely some misunderstanding involved.
 
As for Steve not knowing all the facts - Ya you are right he didn't, but its also not his fault:
 
A.) LMG would have ignored Steve or said its none of his business as they have been every other time he has reached over the past 2 years and so as a result...
 
B.) He never would have gotten the full story to begin with. Both Billet and Linus Omitted details - so how the hell is Steve supposed to be 100% accurate when he can't gain access to 100% of the information?
 
The video's public release is what got the truth to finally come out so it still would have been the exact same situation had GN reached out anyways unless he specifically used a thread - "Im gonna go public if LMG boes not tell me the truth" - Which hell no, Steve would NEVER be that guy.
 
Steve would still have only gotten some information from Billet Labs themselves and we now know that they lied about it to attack LMG for some reason so basically there was only one way for this situation to go down.
 
Steve makes mistakes like anyone else like how he kinda fumbled around a bit in the second video regarding Linus's 5-Year-Old response because he was in such shock and awe he couldn't keep it together.
 
However, despite that human error - Going Public was still the best move. Nothing would have changed otherwise because LMG would have continued to ignore criticism and would have continued to slowly destroy their own reputation.
 
Unfortunately you are correct about the Madison situation - it simply adds to the Chaos and despite the fact the entire thing is BS and LMG technically doing nothing wrong in this situation, people are absolute Hyenas these days with drama and scavenge every little bit they can.
 
This kind of crap is why I hate drama and hate the human race in general these days. What has happened to us? Everyone these days seems to be a complete ass hole, nobody shows respect or care for their fellow man anymore, and every single little thing is all about money anymore - even family matters.

LMG should improve itself with the sole intention of crushing Gamers Nexus. Do the job so well that they can't compete anymore. Then buy them. It's what they deserve. At least, that's what I'd do to the bastards that made my wife that uncomfortable.
