  1. OMG thank you so much that was the issue! thats what I get for trusting a motherboard I supose. Set the voltage to 1.18. man I feel stupid....
  2. not what I want to hear but that may be the case.... guess i got to used to my old 4690k beast
  3. I have a feeling my 6700k is outputting an abnormal amount of heat. I have confirmed that my enermax 350w liquid cooler is working properly as it will melt off my hand if i touch the radiator. i currently have the cpu overclocked to 4.4 with no voltage adjustments and I'm hitting 90.5 c under load. wtf is going on here?
  4. I want to run them at the same time so that my 2 auxiliary monitors can display my telegram and other apps while I'm playing games.
  5. @GtaSeriesFan According to the 2 gamers 1 cpu episode unraid seems to have extremely low level vm support. Also Im quite the fan of debian/ubuntu.
  6. Hello everybody hope you are in for a good laugh at my stupidity. So I hate Windows 10 mostly for the fact that it is spying on me, cant stand it, want it gone. But alas I need it to play all of my pc games and vr games on. So I have the crazy idea to stuff windows into a tiny little cage of a vm and only use it to launch steam, gog, and oculus. The rest of my computing will be done through linux. I'm sure it would be easier to use to separate pc's plugged into one monitor but where is the fun in that? I want an aio type solution here! that also means only one m/k set (that's where synergy comes in). Anyway the list of parts I plan on using is as follows: intel 5820K (4 threads for linux and 8 for windows) -amd 490x (for windows) (maybe 2 in crossfire if unraid will let me) -2x nvidea 710s (one for unraid and one for linux) --Getting the evga 710s because they will look nice -32gb RAM (16 per vm, got to love chrome) -2x 240gb ssds -~3tb hdd storage -other parts I haven't decided on yet So tell me what yall think guys. Am I stupid or do you think I can pull it off? thanks for the feedback, its appreciated.
  7. Rig Name: Power_House CPU: i5 4790k @ 4.5GHz GPU: 2x Asus Strix GTX 980 @ 1430MHz RAM: 2x8 DDR3 2133 On an ending note i dont think this test supported sli
  8. Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to go ahead and get a second one since I also get tomb raider with it!
  9. Im running 1080p @ 144hz but I'm more concerned about VR which is ~1440p @ 90hz
  10. Ok so here is the deal. I have one 980 as of right now (asus strix to be exact) and I also have my pre-order in for the Oculus Rift (I dont need people telling me there thoughts on my purchase I know Im an idiot). What I need to know is if it is going to be worth my money to get a second 980 for VR and other games or am I better off sticking with the one I have. Thank you for your (hopefully) constructive input.
  11. Wow This turned Into a bit of an argument... I think it is worth mentioning that I don't play at high resolutions, I'm only running 1080 @144hz and I know for a fact Nvidea handles better at lower res. I saw allot of arguments using Uhd as examples when that really doesn't apply to the this particular thread. If i was running Uhd I would have opted for 2 390x's but that isnt the case. Oh and in regards to the 295x2. My power supply cant handle that, cant output that much voltage over the pcie conections. ounce again thank you for all the feedback!
  12. Thank you to everyone who replied. You where all very helpful and the discussion some of yall had was interesting. It does pain me to leave team red but the deal I got on that 980 strix I couldn't pass up (450 after rebate) compared to 550 for the fury card... But I have been wanting a shield tv so now I can take advantage of the extra functionality. Also in regards to the dx 12 debate I think AMD has the advantage on the rts side but for games that don't need that many draw calls it may be a bit more even.
  13. Howdy. So my xfx 290x decided to kick the bucket (after a couple of years of vram issues) so I settled for the incremental upgrade to the cuda powered 980 strix from Asus. Since this will be my first ever dedicated piece of Nvidea hardware I have owned I will be stepping into some new territory personally. So I'm asking if there is anything I need to know going into this upgrade. (potential driver issues, nvidea software, overclocking differences, ect.) The rest of my system specs are as listed... -Intel i7 4690K -MSI Mpower max z87 -16GB 2133mh DDR3 ram -1000 watt power supply - Corsare 750D -120GB sandisk ssd Thanks in advance for the help.
  14. (hopefully I'm posting this in the correct area) Hello! Ok so I'm sort of a noob at the hole Nas/Media server thing and I need a little help. So what I'm trying to do is setup a FreeNas box with a Plex media server plugin, sounds simple enough right? Well here is where it gets complicated..... I ALSO need the server to support a bluray drive that will automatically rip my DVDs and other media to there respective formats and save them in an organized fashion. I know that sounds insane but that's what i need done. If anybody can help me please do it is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and I can give extra information if it is needed.
