  1. Hello. I am attempting to make use of an older HP laptop, and figured I could run a VM on it for my uses. I see that the CPU supports Intel VT (intel core i5 M-520). It is enabled in the BIOS, but I am still getting the error message in VMware that my host cannot play 64-Bit VMs. Any clues?
  2. Hi, I have an HP laptop with a touchscreen. The touchscreen also has Wacom Technology built-in, so I can use a pen/stylus to control the screen. If anyone is familiar with a SMART Board, you'd know that a computer connects to a projector, which displays on the board. With this, would there be any way I could control the computer connected to the projector with the Wacom Laptop (other than TeamViewer or similar)? Thanks in advance
  3. But the issue is that Otterbox discontinued their crushproof Armor series cases. I can't seem to find any other crushproof cases...
  4. I'd rather not get a cheap case. I'm willing to pay a considerable amount for the case. It just needs to be crush proof
  5. Hi, Otterbox had an amazing case, called the Armor series. It was crush proof up to 2 TONS. So, basically, you could drive over it. A relative of mine has had a bad reputation for leaving his phone on the top of his car and finding it driven over on the side of the road. I'd like to find a case for him (potential Christmas gift?) that is crush proof like the Otterbox Armor for the iPhone 6 Plus. I have found a lot of cases that are just shockproof, but not crush proof. Does anyone have any suggested cases? I'm disappointed that Otterbox got rid of such a nice case. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks for your reply. I would like to do this so I can restrict the access to users within the network when I need the most bandwidth, while allowing one user to use the Internet. I'll probably just completely turn off the wireless access point in the router and use Ethernet for the PC that needs bandwidth. But, the construction/maintenance page would be better.
  7. I am asking for an administrator to delete this post because there are no replies. I will attempt to move this to the "Networking" thread.
  8. EXACTLY! The only reason why I think people are ignoring this is because most people on this forum probably build their own PCs and are probably used to Diagnostic Software in Windows. And I've never thought of your CHKSDSK theory--- Genius!
  9. After looking into your issue further, I see that the Diagonostic you were running was part of the BIOS of your Motherboard. For anyone trying to say that this is in Windows, or this is not Windows 10, it is actually the BIOS Diagnostics. Even though on first glance it does look like Windows XP, it is not even part of Windows at all. This is NOT A SCAM (just for the people trying to call it a scam).
  10. I have researched your issue fully and I have determined that this issue you are facing is not a scam. In fact, it is in part of Dell Diagnostics, which I see that you have ran a scan through. This issue is fully genuine and not a scam, whatsoever. Firstly, I will need some information about your system from you. Information I need: -Your Dell Model (NO SERIAL NUMBERS/SERVICE TAGS... I don't want that. Only the model number) -Have you modified your system hardware? I just need to know.. you won't get "in trouble" or anything. -System Specs if you have modified it. Please get this info to my ASAP as I am spending all my time on this issue alone.
  11. [DELETED/EDITED Due to information found]
  12. Also, if I need to go to DD-WRT, please give me instructions on how to go to DD-WRT.
  13. I would like to know if I can disable my WiFi network and redirect everyone trying to connect to the WiFi network to a Maintenance Page. Is it at all possible? I have a Linksys EA2700 and I'll gladly go to DD-WRT Firmware if need be. I should go to DD-WRT anyways since my router has 64MB of Flash Memory and is supported. Any help will be appreciated.
  14. OK, I am able to bring your price down because I do not need a hard drive (already have one... I can just use the one from my dead system) and I do not need a GPU for now. So, with that, I can bring your price down to $162.96. I think that is pretty cheap. Although I do not need that much power right now, I can obviously upgrade this system later on. I'll upgrade the PSU, then the GPU, then RAM, then CPU. And eventually I'll upgrade the case and motherboard thereafter and when I upgrade every part, I'll will have enough left over parts to make another PC and I will have two PCs.
  15. Of course, I have a family member with a functional desktop; I could try it with theirs. Yeah, I thought it would be the motherboard. I was thinking of replacing that. but since that motherboard still uses DDR3 RAM and a LGA778 Intel socket, I just thought of building an entire other PC. But how would I backup the hard drive? This HDD still has Vista (ew) and I want to upgrade it to Windows 7/8/8.1 (whichever is cheaper since they all upgrade to Win 10. I might just upgrade to a SSD and just move the files I want to the SSD, is there a better way? Thanks.
  16. Alright, so my PC is showing no signs of life at all. So, first off, I ordered Arctic Silver 5 and a Corsair CX430M for this machine because we had a power outage and the PSU died (capacitor blown; able to be seen through fan vent) and we left it sit there for over a year and it was already a few years old, so I took off the heatsink and the thermal compound was all crusty. Anyways, I applied the AS5 today and installed the CX430M, made sure the CX430M's switch was on "I" and pressed the power button. So, I opened the case back up, and made sure the power, reset, HDD, etc was plugged in properly and reseated it. Didn't work. Then, I took out the PSU and used a paperclip to test it. It passed the test; the PSU fan started spinning immediately. So, I tried it again, with just the 24-pin connector and 4-pin CPU connector, but with RAM installed. Still no. Then, I took out the RAM. Nope. Disconnected the front panel USB and headphone/mic...nope. I even tried splitting the last 4 pins from the 24 pin connector because the last PSU (OEM-Bestec) had only a 20-pin connector on a 24 pin board. Nope. So, I need help obviously and that's why I'm here. Specs: Asus IPIBL-LB (Benica) Mobo 2x 512 GB Samsung DDR3 RAM 2x 1 GB Hynix DDR3 RAM Intel Pentium CPU (if you need specifics for that, tell me) 1 Seagate Barracuda HDD 1 Optical Drive 1 HP Media Bay Drive (I keep disconnected) 1 56K Modem (I don't have the cover, so can't keep it uninstalled without a hole... so I keep it installed) I hope you can help... I would like to recover photos without having to buy a SATA to USB adapter (I only have laptops at the moment)
  17. My budget is $200-350 with Windows and Tower only.I live in the US.
  18. Would you recommend a build via PCPartPicker?
  19. Nevermind... I found it... I just looked up companies starting with "K" and I found it was "Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal"... weird. They must have been looking for an address. Oh well.
  20. Well, it is just a build to get me started.
  21. I would like to know if it is possible to enhance a photo far enough to be able to tell what a word says. I took a photo with my iPhone of a company car that was stalking my house and I can't tell what the company name is. Is is possible to use a program such as Adobe Photoshop? Thanks.
  22. Okay! I have GREAT news! (maybe not for the people who didn't recommend the CX430... but I wanted it.) Anyway, I didn't just get the CX430, but I got the CX430M so that I could use the CX430 for my next custom build (which will be based from Linus' Ultimate Budget Build Guide, which, btw, has a CX430M in it.) And, I won't even have a GPU in the custom build until a while, and by the time I put a GPU in, I would have a much higher quality PSU. I was going to get the EVGA W1, but I just thought that it's not a big difference in money and performance seems better. And, the Corsair CX430M is semi-modular, so good for keeping cables neat for my next custom build. Already ordered the CX430M on Amazon! I'm excited to finally get this PC up and running.
  23. That's exactly all I want. And, since HEC is better than CWT and the EVGA is almost $20 cheaper, that seems like a good deal for me. Especially for a very old HP prebuilt. Soon I will be building a custom build and will probably use a Corsair CS450M.
