    No.

Having the CPU outrun the GPU is what you want. If it's the other way round you'll get stuttering, ideally the CPU is always a bit ahead of the GPU as it's what feeds important information to the GPU, while managing the rest of the PC and its own physics tasks and such.

Yes, a modern CPU can handle a lot more GPU than a 1080, but you won't have any issues running just the 1080. And you won't have to get a new CPU again if you get a much faster GPU, you're set through a good few hardware cycles usually. Such as in OP's case, where they got a good CPU at the time (4790K) and it's held them over till today.

SuperCookie78 reacted to Blue4130 in ARE OLD GEN PC's THE SAME AS OLD GEN CONSOLE'S?
I personally don't agree with you on the basis that a PC is not made as a single unit where all components are required to be upgraded at the same time (on a console this is due to them all essentially being an integrated single unit). A PC is the sum of many parts that are not all released on the same schedule. You could theoretically have a pc made with 20 different generations of parts.

A console on the other hand has a solid generational history. A nes was only ever sold as a nes, it wasn't sold as nes cpu, nes ram, nes psu, nes video output etc.

Just my thoughts. Yours may differ.

I mean in a sense they are paying the game developers in a way that is far more effective than just money.

If it weren't for streaming, games like Among Us, Fortnite, PUBG, and pretty much any other game that has been a major phenomenon over the past few years would be unheard of. Game streaming is extremely lucrative for devs as its basically free advertising

I was thinking maybe just selling the green and buying a blue. raiding the 500GB together to get a 2TB pool. then raiding the 1TB together to get 2TB then RAID 1 on those pools. so it would be RAID 0+0+1. I could also RAID 0 the 2 500 to make 1TB twice, then RAID 10 the 4 1 TB drives.

SuperCookie78 got a reaction from tikker in nVidia Price Graphs by generation and performance tier
I was looking at the prices of RTX and I wondered how they compared to gpu past from nVidia. So i made a google sheet and made some graphs.
The graphs each have 4 lines on them:
MSRP(launch): this is the msrp at the time of launch MSRP(adjusted): this is the msrp from launch adjusted to October 2018 money Trend line for MSRP(launch): the trend line for the launch msrp  Trend line for MSRP(adjusted): the trend line for the adjusted launch msrp In a perfect world the price for a product at a specific performance bracket should not change when adjusted for inflation. so the trend line for launch price should go up but the trend line for adjusted prices should stay the same.

    Titan Series:

    xx80 Ti Series

    xx80 Series

    xx70

    xx60 Series

    Conclusion:
The price when adjusted for inflation has been going down before the newest cards. This means if everything was adjusted for inflation then it would be cheaper to get a better gpu then it was 7 years ago. But with RTX coming out nVidia is moving their names around. Every name will be going up a price bracket so 2060 will cost 1070 money and so on and so forth. And the titan card being pushed to workstation application. This is all in an effort to separate the pro and consumer models. nVidia is trying to prevent Intel's now useless enthusiast platform situation from happening to them.

SuperCookie78 got a reaction from TomvanWijnen in Are there other reversible ports other than lightning and USB C is ?
you can. Imagine a port like USB C port with the female connector having the pins on a centralized pcb. Lets say it has 4 pins. the picture i provided shows how you can non logic reversible connector. But as you can see you need double the width. The male part of the cable would only have pins match the top. When you flip the cable then they line up with bottom. But this method makes 75% of the possible contact area unused.
