Finished applying the stickers and now we are spraying it with a UV resistant clear coat. I realize the fans aren't the best but they're white and they're RGB. It'll do the job for her first PC.

I would love that case I also like anime and that may be a future project tbh, there isn't really much tips I can give you maybe custom PSU cables white to match the case

I'm building my anime-loving daughter her first desktop PC for her birthday October 10th. I'll be giving her my 2080 and one of my two x570 boards. (I had to buy two to troubleshoot multiple issues I was experiencing)
All I've done so far is sticker bomb her case and order her some Cooler Master Sickle Flow 120 fans. Even the sticker bombing isn't complete but here are the first images.

seems like the GPU died (not the screen)

Try removing the GPU and using the motherboard video out

You didn't link you image correctly BTW

A-C-R got a reaction from arvark in Experiences with non-techies
I work with non-techies quite a bit and by far the most laugh inducing experience was when I went to configure some old granny's TV, her TV couldn't pick up any channels because the access point had moved so I had to press a couple of buttons and wait 30 seconds for the decryptifier to do it's thing. When all that was done  i said ''aight m'am it's all done'' and she just stood there awkwardly in awe. ''that was it ?'' she said , ''Yes that was it'' I replied and switched to a channel to prove it. She then got up from her chair hugged me , kissed my cheek , and said that I should be and IT and gave me 5 euros . In her defense she is like 80 years old so i'm hardly surprised, she is quite charming too i might add :3.

AM3+ is basically a dead platform in all but a few highly select areas (virtualization on an extreme budget). Otherwise, even an i3 will perform similarly to an FX9590 in current AAA titles and better in older ones. The FX CPUs need to be heavily overclocked for them to be able to keep up with Intel, so once you factor in a decent motherboard and decent cooling an FX CPU isn't any cheaper.

The problem is not that its a horrible chip, its that its about the same price as a i3 and slower in every task.

Check out Techspot's CPU performance benchmark for any/all games they review. They usually include an FX4,6,8 an i3,i5,i7 and then a 9590/4790k/6700k at various clock speeds. And they also include minimum framerates as well as averages (which are at least just as important and are a place where the FX series has a definite problem in many games).

It's no less capable than it was. I mean, I'm running this thing as essentially base clocks, and I haven't run into a CPU bottleneck in anything so far.

The thing that sucks is that an i3 is usually cheaper, the motherboards are cheaper, you can buy it on an updated platform with better features, and it generally runs everything quite a bit more smoothly due to the single threaded performance of those intel chips. Less heat, less power, equivalent or more performance in some cases....

There's just becoming too few reasons to recommend the FX series anymore. They aren't horrible processors, they're just not standing up to the test of time.

    http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-4170-vs-AMD-FX-6300/m28214vs1555
the FX 6-cores and modern intel i3's kinda trade blows depending on what you're doing.

    - FX is faster in multicore, but i3 is a winner on single thread, and in fact also in quad
    - the FX generally can be gotten cheaper, but it kicks out more heat so they generally require a bigger cooler (and better mobo)
    - i3 is on a newer platform which has some advantages, FX is known to be a great overclocker (and from what i've seen some people take that a bridge too far and kill their chip in 2 years time)

Because for a few hours more or for a few bucks more, the competition on Intel's side has stronger single-core performance.

Don't get me wrong, I used to recommend the FX6300, but with games like Rust and other massive map/world games that require the draw distance to be heavily rendered, the single core performance of the AMD chips are just lackluster.

For the record my old i5 750 is comparable to the FX 6300, possibly still stronger.

the fx 6350 was a good chip, but now Intel is continuing to update their line of cpus where AMD isn't, meaning some developers are not programming code for it in ways the architecture would take advantage of, not only that but i think the fx line is almost considered hyper-threaded, it does have physical cores but it has 1 instruction thing for every 2 cores or something along those lines, I heard that on a YouTube video i cant remember the name of but, with outdated technology comes outdated support or the less developers care about trying to optimize the older cpu, sorry if this doesn't make sense, i tried my best lol.

hello all! I want to make my pc look nice so I am about to buy some cable extenders (orange, white and black)
I was just wondering if an 8 pin pci cable can extend to a 6 pin, (since my gpu only uses 6pin)
or should I just ger another 8 pin and tie the other 2 pin back.
    thanks!

A-C-R got a reaction from Twitchstick in SLI 980 Ti?
Theoretically dual 980TIs would be on par if not slightly surpass the 1080 performance wise. But when you factor in SLI scaling problems and limited (properly implemented) support the actual real world applications of an SLI setup are largely diminished. It really depends on what you plan on doing with those 980TIs. If you just plan on gaming I recommend you stayed with whatever you have in your system for a bit until the 1080 gets released and drops in price or goes in sale.

You could go with the corsair 200r. I'm from the u.s.a, and that case is around 60-70 us dollars which is around 55-65 euros.

you could look at something like the Corsair 88r, has everything you want except the rubber gromets for the holes. It is mATX, so not sure if this will fit you or not.

There is actually quite a large space to the right of the cable management holes that is indented behind where the SSD is mounted to manage excess cables

There is tie down points. If you look closely at the first picture, just to the right of the HDD there is a white zip tie that you can see. The cables you see sticking up are the PCIe cables for when I put in her graphics card.
