Stop listening to Linus for tech advice.
Not sure where he got the idea that WPA2 is easy to crack from. He is not right though if that's what he said in the video.
WPA2 is, when configured properly, very secure. There are a few pitfalls you can fall into when configuring WPA2 but most vendors have good defaults so unless you deliberately start changing settings you don't know what they mean (like switching from CCMP to TKIP), you will be fine.

Frequency has nothing to do with it. 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz are equally secure to each other. It's true that some IoT devices, which may be unsecure, might only support 2.4GHz, but it's not the network that's unsecure in those cases. Thinking that isolating the 2.4GHz clients from the 5GHz clients will increase security is completely wrong.
If you want to isolate your IoT devices then you isolate them based on the device type/purpose/security practice, not the frequency they use to connect. Especially since plenty of IoT devices, such as the Raspberry Pi, do support 5Ghz these days.

You probably have quite a few devices that support it.
All your up-to-date Windows machines support it. Your Android devices running Android 10 or higher support it.
Your iOS devices running iOS 13 or later also support it.
(There may or may not be some old hardware that has trouble with WPA3, but in theory, it does not require any new hardware. All WPA2 hardware should be able to support WPA3. In most cases, you should only have to update the software like your OS and it should work).

The free tier is meant to make users think

"Wow this service actually works, but the ads and short session limit really get in the way"

    And not

"Wow this service actually works. There is no downside so I shall just keep using it and never have to spend for gaming again"

One would be delusional to think Mr. Leather jacket is going to hand out free lunch for perpetuity.

Although I agree the day pass pricing appears to be deliberate strategy to get people on a subscription.

It does address those who might be thinking "Hey Nvidia any options if I only need access for a day?" or "I refuse to sign up for a subscription"

LAwLz got a reaction from rikitikitavi in Getting 9 year old to play games other than Roblox?
My understanding is that a slur is just a word or phrase that has a negative connotation that shows a lack of respect or opinion towards someone else.
Racial and religious slurs are often considered more serious than other types of slurs, but calling someone an "NPC" is in my eyes a slur. It's not just as serious as some other words we typically associate with "slurs" though, but not everything belonging to the same category has to be equal on the scale of how "bad" something is.

I do agree that people who use the word "NPC" are usually not the most pleasant people though, and using it towards your own 9-year-old daughter is a bit "strange" to say the least.

You keep using the word "hyperbolic" but I am not sure it means what you think it means. Honestly, I don't really like your attitude and I don't think other people like it either. You come across as quite the unlikeable person. Maybe that's not how you are in person, but it is the vibe I am getting from this thread.

    Yes, NPC is a slur.
Yes, saying that Roblox isn't a "real game" is demeaning.

Anyway, trying to get back on topic, what other games have you tried? It's hard to recommend things when we don't really know much about what other games you have tried (if any) and what your daughter thought of them.

Two other people have mentioned Minecraft but you never responded to them. Would that be a good game to try? Maybe Stardew Valley would be another good one?

So if I understand correctly, she wants to play Roblox with you but you don't want to play that game.
So now you're asking for help finding games that both of you might enjoy?

By the way, I think you should be more careful about how you word your posts. Calling your daughter slurs, being demeaning towards the things she likes and such is not exactly a good way to come across as "dad of the year". I think that's why a lot of people seem to react a certain way towards your posts.

Quite a conjecture. When I look back at my photo albums full of pictures I took as a child on a cheap point-and-shoot camera, I don't think "gee, I wish I'd taken these with the DSLR I bought 10 years later". I just look at the scenes in those pictures and the people within them and reminisce fondly. You seem to overestimate how much people value the fidelity of pictures over what memories they depict.

I don't think the people who say "DSLR killer" mean that smartphones are better than DSLRs. I think they are saying smartphones have gotten good enough that the use cases for a DSLR, for most people, is gone.

I have a DSLR that I used to use a lot. Then when I got my galaxy S10 and found myself using the DSLR less and less. The phone was good enough, and far more convenient.

I used my S10 exclusively on my trip to Japan. Could my DSLR have taken better pictures? Absolutely, but carrying it around would have made the trip worse because it would have been more of a hassle. The benefit didn't outweigh the drawback in my use case.

You have to judge things in their entirety. When two competing products have strengths and weaknesses you can't stare yourself blind on a single factor.
For the average person, is it worth spending the money to buy a DSLR, then carry that around instead of just using their phone's camera?
Sales of digital cameras dropping by about 90% since 2010 indicates to me that people are satisfied enough with their smartphones.

Also, something causing sales of X drop 90% is in my opinion a pretty good definition of an "X killer".
If Samsung released a phone tomorrow that caused iPhone sales to drop 90% then I'd call that an "iPhone killer" too.

I miss the days when I used to frequent photography forums. Pixel peeping missing the bigger picture, bad pun intended.

I'm more surprised Nikon are still going along in a meaningful way. I've not kept up to date but they were looking in bad shape at the tail end of DSLR era - early mirrorless era. In peak DSLR and earlier it was always Canon vs Nikon but that switched to Canon vs Sony.

Still, getting a better presence in the video side certainly doesn't hurt. I don't personally look at pro video products so this is largely off radar to me in the context of the wider market.

Photography is like computing in a way. You want the best if things are never good enough, but once you do reach good enough, the question then is, how cheap can you get it? Laws of physics mean phones will struggle to match bigger sensor/optics but in many cases it has passed people's "good enough" threshold.

Them giving away a free tier which has ads, and also offering a tier which you pay for and don't get ads is in my opinion not Nvidia "creating an issue and selling the solution". It's just them offering various services of different quality.
Unless you think the issue is "the service has to make money somehow" in which case, yes, having to fund the service is certainly an issue. Although I think it's weir dot say that it is an issue that "nvidia created".

People wanted to use it, but it was handled so poorly that people couldn't and just forgot it even existed.

Wasn't this whole thing a big deal few years ago, but the whole implementation was so stupid and hard to use no one used it? Like, if you could easily install any app from any app market, people would use it. But I'm rather technical user and apart from knowing this subsystem was available, I've never even tried it because it was so clumsy and overcomplicated.

LAwLz reacted to Spotty in Apple fined 1.8 Billion Euro for anti-competitive practices with music streaming subscriptions
    Summary
Apple has been ordered by the European Commission to pay a 1.8 Billion Euro fine (approximately 2 Billion USD) after Spotify launched a complaint over Apple's 30% tax on subscriptions purchased through iOS apps and Apple's developer rules preventing app developers from informing customers that subscriptions can be purchased at a cheaper price outside of the app [such as subscribing directly through the website]. Apple takes a 30% cut on subscriptions made through iOS apps and their developer agreement prevents developers from informing customers of alternative purchase methods. Apple has been ordered to stop preventing app developers from informing customers of cheaper subscription options. Apple has announced they intend to appeal the decision.

    My thoughts
There was recently a post on this forum asking why it was more expensive for them to subscribe to Youtube Premium through an iPhone than it was for them to subscribe on their PC. I don't think many people realise that Apple's takes a 30% cut from subscriptions made through iOS apps which will often make subscribing to those services more expensive as services pass that extra cost on to consumers.
I think 30% is excessive but I actually don't mind if Apple takes a cut of purchases made through the Apple App store. Google (Android Play Store) and Steam to name some similar software marketplaces also take a cut from sales made through their store and taking a cut of sales is required for those marketplaces to remain feasible. The restriction Apple places on developers preventing them from informing customers about cheaper subscription methods is purely designed as an anti-competitive measure to prevent people from subscribing outside of the Apple system. I'm glad that the European Commission has recognised it as such and fined Apple over it.

I really hope that Apple is forced to allow all app developers to inform customers about alternative subscription methods - not just music streaming services. Apple is a direct competitor to Spotify and other streaming services with their Apple Music service which is likely why they were hit so hard in this complaint from Spotify but I would like other apps like video streaming (Youtube, Twitch, Floatplane?) to be able to inform customers within the app about cheaper subscription methods. Hopefully this is just the first domino to fall in allowing all apps on the Apple App store to inform customers about alternative subscription methods.

    As others have already said.

There is no Zen5. What you're probably thinking of is Ryzen 5000 which is based on Zen3.

Something to keep in mind is that your current motherboard and RAM is not compatible with Ryzen 5000.
So you would need to replace those if you wanted to change the CPU.

There won't be any issues using an Nvidia graphics card with an AMD processor with an AMD GPU inside it. Right now I got an Intel CPU with an Intel GPU inside it, and I am using my Nvidia graphics card just fine. It's a perfectly normal setup. The integrated graphics is simply not used.

Two things I have seen other people report on, that makes this case different from other cases are:
    1) Yuzu released a TOTK-optimized version of their emulator just a few hours after the official release, and they put that version behind a paywall.
    2) Yuzu developers and moderators have encouraged and helped with piracy on their Discord.

I think it is a bit hard to take the stance of "we are just doing this to make people be able to play games on more powerful hardware" when you are doing those two things.
I think it is very sad that Yuzu is going away because I do see legitimate use cases for it, and reverse engineering shouldn't be illegal IMO. But the profit motivation, encouraging piracy, and possibly developing the emulator used leaked and pirated software makes it a lot harder to defend. Assuming those things are true of course.
