  1. I checked to make sure that I am running the latest firmware and driver on the system and I am. There was a SAS backplane update but that would not run on Windows Server 2012 R2. As far as changing those settings for the RAID card, I wont be able to do that until Thursday because I am out of town at the moment. I will keep you posted if that fixes it or not when I get a chance to fix it. If it is the RAID card not being compatible with the newer drives what kind of raid card could I pick up that would work with the backplane and the dell motherboard? Thanks.
  2. I upgraded 3 of my older SAS hard drives in my poweredge 2900 to WD 2TB enterprise drives. I created a new raid 5 array for them and am able to see and use all of the storage in windows server 2012 r2. I am having a weird issue with it though. During heavy writes to that raid array the server will BSOD after 20-30 minutes. Also lots of tiny files writes seems to crash it as well. It does not appear that there is any issue with reading files causing BSOD. The dump files says the issues is with megasas.sys which appears to be throwing a memory error of sorts. I can get a screenshot if you guys want it. If I am not mistaken I have the latest drivers and firmware for the raid card. I was thinking maybe I have older firmware and drivers and I just dont know it. Could someone point me to the most recent version? Also has anyone had a similar issue?
  3. One of my close friends has a laptop with a regular HDD in it and it's SOO slow, I would love to give this to him to make his life so much better.
  4. Yes I knew about this thread. I was just wondering if anyone else had managed to find anything since then.
  5. I bought a FOXCONN LGA 1366 server motherboard off of ebay and I can not find any manual anywhere (manufacturer website does not work well). I was wondering if any of you know where to find it. Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Foxconn-02010HE00-600-G-Intel-LGA1366-Dual-Socket-Server-Motherboard-/181833796762?hash=item2a56238c9a:g:bzYAAOSwAKxWU3h5 Thanks in advance, Maxar6
  6. A pair of ACER monitors for my parents who are still using old and tiny monitors that bleed bad!
  7. So I recently upgraded from a Radeon HD 6870 to a R9 280X. Now I used my 6870 for video editing and gaming. The issue I am having with my R9 280X is video editing. When I would render videos with my 6870 in Sony Vegas it would use the cards GPU to render the video making for a very quick experience. Now with the R9 280X installed with the latest drivers I can not seem to get Sony Vegas to render my projects with the card. (Yes I choose the option for render with gpu/opencl if available is selected). I was wondering if any of you know a fix to get my videos to render quickly wit my 280X. Also I tried adobe premier and using gpusniffer.exe and it was unable to find a compatible gpu unit. Thanks!
  8. I am slightly confused about what you are saying about your laptop ram, but I will give it my best shot for you. The number of rectangular chips that are soldered onto the ram are not the most important thing to look at. You should be looking for the sticker on the ram that states the technology (ddr2, ddr3) as well as the capacity. While generally more chips equals more capacity there is some issues with this logic. On older sticks of ram each module may be 256mb or 512mb or 1gb per chip. So the chips is not something to worry about when looking at the ram.
  9. OK I like the suggestion. I was also looking at that motherboard I just liked how that one had the integrated WIFI but then again thats not a huge deal. Any reason you choose that Pentium over the other one?
  10. So for my dads birthday I am looking at building a new computer for him. I budgeted around $300 not very strict about that exact price. Also I do no need a HDD for this build but would like to include a SSD for him. He would use the computer just for browsing the internet, youtube, quicken, and listening to music. I know it sounds really basic but he likes to have lots of tabs and appkications open at the same time so a little power would be good for him. Here is what I have so far. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/maxar6/saved/gzh8TW
