  1. The hardware was so similar that Windows didn't even ask to re-authenticate =)
  2. Well, I won the motherboard in a contest, so it was free... plus I gave my brother (who cheaped out on his build and got a PC MATE mobo) my gaming 5 =) I had no problems booting into windows 8.1 switching from the 5 to 6, he swapped out his mobo for the gaming 5 and had no problems with windows 7
  3. The system booted up no problem with the Gaming 6 mobo! the only thing I had to do was install the USB 3.1 drivers and now I'm good to go
  4. Well, they could have modified the bus controllers and all that jazz. Who knows, I will find out tomorrow when I perform open heart motherboard transplant surgery on my rig
  5. For sure! I'm creating an image of my drive and everything. I just built my rig a few months ago and am to be lazy and not have to reinstall everything and config everything to my liking all over again.
  6. I actually won the motherboard in a contest, so I didn't waste any money =)
  7. So, I am upgrading from the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 to the MSI Z97A Gaming 6. On paper, it seems like the only difference is the added USB 3.1 type C connector and a SPDIF sound connecter. Does anyone think I could swap out the motherboards without reinstalling windows or are the chipsets different enough to where it will cause hiccups?
  8. Where do you see that? I saw less on the screen shot, I guess that's the base speed and not the speed it's actually operating at?
  9. Just to be completely certain.... do you have both of these connected?
  10. that is good! I've had a card fry on me before and it looked similar to that, so I had my concerns.
  11. Hopefully the artifacts are just from the driver and not overheating. =/ perhaps you could downgrade to an earlier driver than you have?
  12. Did you update the driver since the last time you played?
  13. Are you running crossfire or something by chance?
  14. Treating people like crap would be them sitting idly by and doing nothing. They are working on fixing the issues, sometimes patience is the best option. Like I said before it's most likely the publisher's fault rather than the developers. People are acting like they had a fast one pulled on them and I hardly think that's the case. It's just a risk you run of being an early adopter.
