  1. Thanks for the replies everyone! Glad to know that I should not do this, inless I want a dead computer. Any other suggestions on fluids?
  2. I recently got rid of my fish, and now I have a 10 gallon fish tank on my hands. I also have an old computer that I built a while ago that still runs Windows XP. I was wondering if I could combine to the two to create a submerged computer. My main question is whether I can use distilled water instead of mineral oil and if my old computer will be OK with it. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks!

Linus, you should do a quad SLI fire pole. See attached picture.
  4. I just received two old 1280 x 1024 dell monitors that I have added onto the sides of my main display which is a Asus MX27AQ. The problem I am having is I would like to downscale the vertical resolution of the Asus, so than it would be the same height as the dell's. (I am perfectly fine having black bars at the top and bottom of the display.) Then, using NVIDIA surround, It should make my displays into 5120 x 1024 resolution, right? No, surround converts my 2560 x 1024 display into some weird resolution and than scales it wrong. This makes games look absolutely horrid, and with the incorrect scaling it messes up the 3D generated environment from monitor to monitor. It changes the size but does not change the place. I am trying to figure out how to fit it, but scaling it making it very difficult. Any help would be very nice! I did hear about windows 10 coming out with some scaling thing, but I did not quite understand it. Explanation would be very helpful! By the way, I have a 980 ti.
  5. Thanks for all the replies! All those reasons do make sense.
  6. So, by overclocking a CPU, you could potentially get a 15%+ performance increase at the expense of power and heat. My question is: Why don't companies like HP, Dell, and Asus factory overclock the CPU's of pre-bulid PC's? It seems like you could put a lower end CPU in a computer and overclock it to make it preform like a higher end CPU. I know things like the silicon lottery and case airflow come into play, but still, why not. Companies could even put like some crazy gimmicky slogan on the box, and charge more for the overclocked computer. Thanks!
  7. Are certain games capable of using the i7-5820k's 2 extra cores? Because they run at a lower speed, does that make them less viable for gaming? Is bigger Ghz better for gaming, or it it better to have more slower cores?
  8. I did realize this, but would it be worth to upgrade to a x99 system for the future years?
  9. I would prefer this CPU to last longer than 3 years, and yes I currently have a Z97 motherboard. Thanks for all the replies, I was not expecting this many!
  10. I am looking to upgrade my CPU on my computer, and I am having trouble deciding between the i7-5820K and the i7-4790K. My main uses would be gaming, video editing/rendering, and 3D cad modeling. Thanks!
