Possible to buy keys on Origin to be used on another account ?
Unlocker9000 replied to Crowcore's topic in PC Gaming
You cannot buy gift keys or games for friends on Origin. But you can buy Origin keys at other websites like Kinguin and such. Once bought a game for my friend on Origin, but he had to give me his login for me to buy the game (buying it with his account). -

No, the D-Link router should work just fine with the TP-Link switch. The difference between switches and routers is that a switch is basically just like an active hub, distributing the signals. Where a router there is a WAN port, witch is separated from the lan ports (has different ip ranges and a different subnet) and traffic can only go through open ports in the router, so access from outside is more limited. That was what I meant.
-
Should be ok for the price, but I would go with a higher end one like this Netgear one, but it's on the pricey side. I've heard good about the Trendnet once. Every switch should be able to handle WAN, but it will be on the same subnet, so people from the outside will be able to access your home network. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not a networking expert And buy the way, the only thing a switch does, is extending the network, like a usb hub.

Does this mic ship to sweden? (Blue snowball amazon uk)
Unlocker9000 replied to MysticPing's topic in Peripherals
They'll proberly ship to Sweden, but the free shipping is for UK only. I have ordered things from Amazon.co.uk before and they ship most of their stuff to the EU, but the shipping cost can be pretty high. Edit: Ups, missed that the link was to Amazon.com... -
Show off your old and retro computer parts
Unlocker9000 replied to TheTechnerd's topic in General Discussion
Thought I would show you some of my old gear Most of it is just packed away, as I don't really have a use for it anymore. This is an old 3Com 3C905C-TX-M nic, currently sitting in an old P4 server that isn't in use anymore. Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value, got it from a old P3 pc. Currently using it for playing music. It sounds pretty good, considering this is a sound card from 1999. ATI Radeon 9600 (pretty sure it's the SE model), 128mb. Equipped with some custom ram heatsinks. An old HP socket A motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 2600+. Don't remember where it originally came from. A random stick of SDRAM. Pretty sure it a 32mb stick, but I don't have a system for it or to test it on. An socket 478 Asus P4S800D motherboard, with spiders in it... Some ATA Seagate HDD's. Once had a 4gb one, but it had so many bad sectors that I could not use it for anything, so I threw it out. Some more Creative sound cards and a VIA firewire card. I have sadly never if my life used or owned a firewire device. An ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb. This one had overheated, so it has artifacts, even in desktop. I'm going to see if I can get it to work properly. And at last some cpu's. A socket 478 P4 cpu, a socket 775 Core2 Duo E4500 (don't even know if it works), an E8400 and at last an Pentium D 945. Btw, do any one of you know how I make the spoiler/show text thing? I have tried goggling it, but could not find it anywere Thanks -
will this be a good choice
Unlocker9000 replied to skitz9417's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The i7 2600K would be a good upgrade from the Phenom II X4 945. So if you can find a good 1155 motherboard for cheep, that would be a good option. Also, the i7 2600K has an unlocked multiplier, so you can overclock it if you want to. -

Unlocker9000 replied to skitz9417's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
It will not really give you that much of a performance increase, but you can try looking for something like a Phenom II x6 1090T on eBay. But I will recommend you getting something newer for the rendering, as the Phenom II series are getting old. Maybe getting a new motherboard and then later a better FX cpu? -
Intel D101ggc 775 socket
Unlocker9000 replied to TheEatenCookie's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I'm afraid that there is no option to overclock with this board (have it in one of my machines). And the motherboard doesen't support cpu's with a TDP higher than 95W, so don't expect it to be able to output enough power oc'ing, if you're using a 95w cpu. (currently running it with a Pentium D 945). There's a thread here talking about it: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-intel-d101ggc. The only option I know of is to use software to change the FSB. You would properly be able to change the capacitors on it, but be sure you pick the right replacements (and try not to change the surface mount components, unless you know what you are doing. It can be pain in the a$$ to solder). -
Blu ray converting and burning software
Unlocker9000 replied to DeevoGold's topic in Operating Systems
You should try MultiAVCHD, it allows you to add subtitles, audio tracks and menus to your videos, and then converts it, so you can burn it to bluray discs and use it on most bluray players. But be aware, it's a very advanced program, so you should read the guide on the website. -
Creative makes a gaming series of sound cards called "Recon3D", that should do an ok job at making virtual surround sound, might be worth taking a look at. I couldn't find US pricing, but it should be under a 100$. Edit: Creative's 3D tecnology is called "SBX Pro Studio Surround".

As of what I can see, the 280x isn't that much faster than the 580, but has of course lower power consumption and mantle. A 280x costs around 385 usd.

I would rather spend some extra and get something like a 280x or a 770, but the 580 is faster than the 270x and is cheaper.

Year, and I don't really like the stock cooler on it, as the tempratures can get as high as 90C, and the extremly high power consumption it has. All that power... I read that the 590 would have the same performance as two 570's in sli = A lot better than my 6870... Edit: There is also a 7970 for 275usd, but it has a stock cooler

Hi So I want to upgrade my AMD HD6870 to something better, but I don't really have the money for a new one at time being. So I have been looking on used graphics cards lately, and have found some interesting stuff in my country. I have found a used Gigabyte GTX 590 for around 275usd and a used Asus GTX 580 Directcu II for around 180usd. I think this is a pretty good deal but wanted to hear you guys toughs first, before spending my hard earned money. Should I buy the 590 or the 590? I really want to get the 590, but I have heard some bad things about temperatures and reliability of these cards, so I don't really know if I should buy it or wait for the money to a new graphics card. Thanks

How do i repair my BIOS from USB/I Fixed IT!?
Unlocker9000 replied to Jeroen1322's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Sorry, but Asrock doesn't have a feature to flash the bios via usb, if it is corrupted, but can replace the bios chip on the motherboard. You can get one from Asrock, by contacting their support or just find one on ebay by searching: "Asrock 970 Extreme4 bios". -
Need better northbridge cooling...
Unlocker9000 replied to flibberdipper's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Zalman makes makes some northbridge heatsinks. Have a look at the Zalman ZM-NB47J and ZM-NBF47, these will fit on your motherboard and doesn't really cost much. Edit: Found this on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708003 This shoud be a really good northbridge cooler and will cool ALOT better than the one that comes with the motherboard. I'm pretty sure this one will fit, but you can measure it, if you want to be sure. -
According to Asus' website, the P8H61-M motherboard will support the Pentium G2130, but the bios needs to be version 4602 or newer. So unless your motherboard is a newer revision or have been updated before, you will need to upgrade the bios, to use the cpu with that motherboard. You shoud be able to update the bios with the i5 2500K.

Socket 1150 motherboard for NAS
Unlocker9000 replied to Unlocker9000's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have been searching a bit and found that the H87 chipset has Intel Smart Response Technology and Intel Rapid Storage Technology. So I have found the Asus H87M-E and the Asus H87M-PRO. Can anyone of you recommend these motherboards or are there better alternatives? Also, is the Asus H87M-PRO worth the extra money for server/nas use?- 3 replies

Hi I wanna build a nas for all of my files and backups, so the system is going to be online 24/7. There for I wanna get a new low powered Intel cpu and motherboard. I have already picked the Intel i3 4130T as the cpu, but I have not picked my motherboard yet. I have narrowed it down to a small list of boards that I think would be suitable: MSI B85M-E45 Gigabyte B85M-D3H ASUS B85M-E ASUS B85M-G ASRock B85M Pro4 I have some idea of what I want, but I'm not so sure about what board to pick, so i have a list of things that I would like: I would like to have 4 dimm slots, It's not that important but it's nice to be able to upgrade in the future, if I so desire. I want to have at least 2 pcie expansion ports for raid card and nic. Though these boards are using the B85 chipset, it doesn't realy matter, I just didn't want to pick H81, as only 2 dimms (and some H81 boards had only pcie 1.x) and B85 had more SATA III ports and USB 3.0. These motherboards are microATX, as I like the size better and it fits my case, but It doesn't have to be microATX, cause I'm going to get a new case for it in the near future. And I would like to keep the motherboard cost under 100 usd. And I'm open for other motherboard choices Thanks

Stuck Between Two Motherboards!

+1 for the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 -
I'll say an aftermarket 780 or if you can afford it a 780ti. You could also wait for the next generation of graphics cards, but I don't think there will be any new releases soon, but who knows.
