Will the Intel 4440 bottleneck a 970?
Biggshoes replied to SoftenButterCream's topic in Graphics Cards
I am still using 2 6970's in crossfire. And a i7930. In tomeraider ultra preset, with the hair thing turned off im getti g 59 fps with there bench mark. 2560x1440. I really think the cpu is not very importan when it comes to games -
I have seen nothing out of asus for a wile now, on there Rampage iv Extreme black edition. and the 290x seems to be only so so, vs the 780/titan should I wait? what other 2011 boards are good, that are all black? or mostly black. Im looking at building a black and brush aluminum build. maybe some of that carbon fiber wrap stuff for accents. I guess this 900D and this ax1200I are just burning a hole in my .... erm ... desk ? just think all sexy black, and brushed aluminum .. mmm mmmm, I might even do hard pipe water cooling, stainless steel. or some of that acrylic tube, with chrome black fittings.

I too will be doing a build with this board. seems with the new amd gpu's coming out about the same time as this. it will be a match made in heaven. the funny thing is, i started to gather parts, on the 900D release day .. and there is always something new coming out next month.. for me to wait for =( I hope to water cool the entire thing, and ill post pictures. it will most likely be a work in progress, as im sure the new amd gpu water blocks will be a few months out, and if someone makes water blocks for this board, it will be a wile.

I have a corsair link kit. and yes I have 10 fans running with it. and yes it has had lots and lots of problems, firmware software, re-installs corsair CS .. I am actually waiting, for corsair to send me an entire new kit. and they are giving me 10 new SP/AF PWM fans ..... this set up might be problematic. But I have had it working right ( mostly ) and it is fantastic. but with each new update, they fix one problem and introduce another. dont get me started on there lights haha. wonderful Idea, fantastic CS, poor product. maybe in a few more months, if they put enough time in on there end. the software will match up with what they intended it to do.

I don't know why no one ever mentions my favorite fan. the cooler master excalibur http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6506386&CatId=802 600-2000 RPM, .75-3.53 mmh2O, 26.4-85.6 CFM. I am running 9 of them in my rig, and at anything under 1200 RPM they are super quiet, 1500 RPM and you can finally here the whoosh noise from the air. I have a I7 930 at 4.1 GHZ, with an h100 with the fans running at 1500 my temps in games never get above 55, on a stress test (prime 95) for 30 min, at 2000 RPM they stay at 65. at 1500 they will get to 73. and they look pretty cool to boot =)

Biggshoes replied to Biggshoes's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I am currently running, an x58 I7930 ( at 3.9ghz), 2 6970's. 24 gigs of vengance 1600 at 1590 ram ( its the only place i could get my bclock stable) ( a large chunk is a ram drive) an asus px58d-e mother board ... ssd, h100, aio graphic cooler.. yata yata. I am not looking to upgrade, I am looking to build an entire new system. My original question was, how much does a plx chip really lag your graphic cards, but I my self have been side tracked =) I guess another question would be, what platform is the over kill plat form. 2011?, 1150? is there much of a difference ? -

Biggshoes replied to Biggshoes's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
so, I should wait for the x99 platform, or wait for the z87 formula, then I should wait for the 9970... haha. got to love the computer hardware world =) -

your specs look nice.but I think im going to go for a complet water cooling build. might even do the ram, and MB. and as much as i think titans are baller, Im kind of a amd graphic card fan boy =) but if they dont put out something to compet with the new nvidia cards. i might have to trade sides =( -

my computer that im using now, still kicks butt. its an older x58 platform, but I have it oc to 4.0ghz, and am using 2 6970's. , I have a 480gb force gt ssd, 24 gigs of vengence 1600 ram ( 15 gigs of it is ram drive). what Im saying is,I dont need a new computer, I have always wanted to go ballz out, with a system. and i figured since i just got this promotion at work. I have an extra 5-6k to really have fun with. I kinda of wanted to go with the newest platform, as to make my system relevant for longer. but if the older x79 set up is still better than the new z87 platform, I could go that way also. does anyone have a comparison x79 vs z87 ? im thinking of getting pumps, rads, first. and maybe waiting a few months to see how the ROG line pans out ( formula,vi extream bios, ect) -

that always seems to be the case with computer parts. if we wait for every part that is just off the release date, another one will pop up.. and we will wait for that ha ha. -
