  1. My mom's username for everything: wwalice (her name is Alice). So when I made my first email account it was wwsamson (my name is Samson). One day my friend sent me a logo that she made for me which had a picture of a minecraft fish on it, so wwsamson became wwsalmon. The ww actually stands for my dad's name, Wenwu, which I didn't find out until later.
  2. In Windows set battery mode to High Performance. That might be a possible culprit.
  3. When you upgrade to Win10 you upgrade to the same level as your previous OS. Home goes to Home, Pro goes to Pro, Ultimate goes to Ultimate
  4. STICK WITH THE WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE! When the Windows 10 Upgrade comes you will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Ultimate instead of Professional! Upgrading to Win 8 will be killing hundreds of dollars.
  5. The Zotac unit has no discrete graphics card, however it has very powerful Iris Graphics; still not quite as comparable to Asus. The Asus is cheaper as you have to add $200 for RAM, SSD and OS to the Zotac, so if you really have a tight budget go for the Asus but if you want super-small form factor go for the Zotac. In short recommend Asus for your scenario.
  6. Hi everyone, I currently own a Blue Yeti (non-XLR), a laptop, a phone, and a camcorder, and I want to record video with good image and audio quality. Audio on the phone and camcorder aren't good enough, so I'm thinking of using the Yeti for audio and one of the others for video. One solution is to record from the Yeti to the computer and record image using the phone and sync the two later, but this is a bit of a clumsy solution and I would prefer to just be able to directly record a video with good audio and image. I know I can connect my Yeti to the phone or camcorder but I would also need USB for power and having that cord lying around is a bit annoying, so I'm wondering if there's a way to wirelessly connect from the 3.5 mm jack of the yeti to the 3.5 mm jack of the phone or camcorder? This way I could keep the Yeti plugged in to a computer USB port sitting off to the side and have it wirelessly connect to the camera which will be across the room. In short: Is there a way to connect a microphone to another device wirelessly with 3.5 mm jacks on each end? Thanks, Samson Zhang (wwsalmon)
  7. Just pirate something like Camtasia or Vegas Pro, it works great.
  8. Hello everyone, After seeing Linus' new video I decided that for my new build I would be using a Silverstone Sugo SG13 case. Currently I'm using a super-crappy Asus notebook with a 5 min battery life and i3-330U so I'm planning on upgrading for better video production, gaming, and image editing performance (not some super Titan X rig like Linus built, just something that can handle such tasks fairly well). I have never built a PC before but have seen them built and have researched the topic. The build is supposed to be semi-budget (targeting under $1500, the cheaper, the better). What I'm planning is: i7-4790K Nvidia GTX 980 16GB DDR3 RAM Motherboard - IDK Power supply - IDK SSD - 2x 250GB Samsung 850 EVO Other stuff - IDK OS - Cheapest genuine Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 that I can find (to upgrade to Win 10) There's a lot of stuff that I don't know what's best. Asrock's ITX X99 motherboard is nice but it might be a bit overkill since I'm not using a crazy processor or DDR4 RAM and it's a little expensive. I also don't know if the reference 980 or other card is best. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, wwsalmon
  9. Okay, thanks! I might just take the XPS 13 then.
  10. XPS: 5500 Graphics MBP: 6100 Graphics I'm not sure, is the difference in performance significant enough for light video editing and gaming to be a major concern?
  11. Agreed. Of course spending 10K on a golden smartwatch is a reasonable alternative to a $250 one.
  12. 2015 XPS 13 is not powerful enough, UX303 has only 6 hours of battery life.
  13. I've been looking for a good Windows laptop under $2000 that has 8+ hours of battery life, is thin and light (<4 lbs), and has decent performance (enough for decently fast video editing and rendering and things like Minecraft). I considered Razer Blade 14 but it doesn't have good enough battery life; Lenovo ThinkPad T440/T450S is too bulky, and so what I'm eyeing is the Macbook Pro 13 inch 2015. It's got a good design, good battery life, and good performance, and I'm thinking of installing Windows 10 on it through Boot Camp. However, Windows is more inefficient than OSX, so can anybody tell me if the performance is as good on Windows as it is on OSX? (Battery life and performance)? Also, are there any good Windows options? Thanks!
