  1. I'm running into this same issue but with the 1080 g1. On step 5 when you flash the new BIOS where did you find new bios for the card? I can't find any bios versions on Gigabyte's webpage. EDIT: seems that you have to contact Gigabyte directly and wait for a response to get the BIOS. I'm trying a few different BIOS from techpowerup.com to see if I can fix it.
  2. I've been following the problems with the Matebook since its launch and the only one in the list of problems on the list in this post that happens on almost every laptop is the track pad rattle. Almost no one gets distortion on the speakers, the bottom creaking is actually the bottom its the battery inside or the panel not screwed in properly, the fingerprint isn't even an issue anymore after the first batch they fixed the drivers and sent out a new bios, and the mic was fixed with that too. I do have coil whine but it almost inaudible. I have to put me ear to the back of the computer right where the mosfets are to hear it. A lot of these issues where fixed after the first batch.
  3. This fact alone makes me never wanna look at the surface book again ?
  4. I haven't had any hardware issues with mine... Its actually the best laptop I've ever owned. My last two laptops being a Macbook Pro 15 (2017) and a razer blade. Why do you say its been abandoned? I'm getting a lot of software/driver updates so the software team hasn't abandoned it.
  5. Yeah I can understand that. I wounder why Huawei didn't reach out to him to do a review like Mr. Mobile...
  6. When was this and in which video/Social Media? Did I miss this?
  7. I watched the WAN show on Friday and heard Linus talk about how all his laptops have something missing. But he's never even talked about Huawei's Matebook X Pro on any video that I've seen (I've seen almost all of them). Anyone know why our fearless leader is blind to this computer? As I heard him whine about the lack of battery life on the razer blade, the bad keyboard on the Dell XPS 13, and the lack of a TB3 on the surface laptop. All I could think about is how much he would love this laptop and how it checks every box for Linus. Is it that Huawei hasn't reached out? Is it that the Chinese brands aren't to his liking? Please help me understand this or someone please tell Linus to take a look at this computer that should of had a review on his channel at the start of the year. Hell dbrand is making skins for the damn thing so he can get a sponsor for the video.
  8. ^^^ huh? ^^^ any 2 in 1 or tablet with a keyboard ^^^ again.. huh?
  9. If you're looking around that price then you need to start looking at what processor is going to take advantage of the programs you're focusing on as well as a laptop thats going to cool that CPU/GPU extremely well. The two that you've asked about are good laptops for the specs but i'd start looking at reliability, build quality, cooling solutions, portability, screen size, aspect ratio, and most of all the customer service if it ever needs to be serviced.
  10. Being the dirty human that I am I feel that this gap would become full of shit as soon as it hit by backpack. Also the hinge looks like it would also attract dirt/dust/lint a lot. The matebook is basically a macbook pro clone and I've had people tell me it over and over again at school. So I guess you can call it fancy too? But without the macbook price tag ( with the same specs ).
  11. The aero 15 has around a 6 hour battery life when its not gaming. While the Matebook can hit around 9.5 on the same tasks or 13 with just media. Id say for a laptop to have good battery life it needs to be more then a average work day. The eGPU does take away from the portability i agree but its not the focus of the matter. This is firstly a productivity laptop which means its going to need to be ready for the long hall of productivity tasks when your staring at the screen off 5 hours thinking of ways you can get out of doing your work. I find that not being able to play games whenever you want is the best tool for making you work so you can go and play more games.
  12. Running it to an external display is needed for sure to see good gaming performance. But other then that id say its more then enough. Plus x2 and x4 doesn't mean that the port cant handle 40Gb. Just that the port is using the full 20Gb per PCIe lane.
  13. Yeah but the Surface book has more moving parts to brake, non replaceable storage, a very high price tag for the same internals, as well as a being heavier, and most of all hard to keep clean with it not being able to close fully. On top of all that it doesn't have a TB3 port to use an eGPU.
  14. I'm not gonna fight you on that. The MX150 isn't a gaming GPU at all. BUT for a laptop of this size, price, and build quality I've gotta say its a really damn good deal for the money. Plus with the extra 500 you can get a EGPU and hook it up to the TB3 for a better gaming experience. Because Edgyton is looking for something for productivity, portability, and good battery life with gaming on the side i'd say its of higher priority that the laptop is something he wouldn't mind putting into a backpack and that he doesn't need to bring the charger with him every day or worry about him using it and not having an outlet near by.
  15. I did some 3D designing for around 4 hours yesterday on it while running a second display and I never felt any heat unless I put my fingers above the keyboard. I'm also under-volting my CPU and I've seen it improve temps by 10C or more. Plus its an AU body and they design it to take some of the heat away from the internal components. The cooler design imo is kinda impressive. Its heat pipes that are attached to a large AU heat sink that goes across the entire laptop including the NVME SSD. The fan then draws heat in and creates negative pressure in the case to cool it off from all angles. The only real problem that I've had this this laptop is the fact that Ubuntu wont work with the fingerprint censor that is built into the power button and that when i got my first model it had a very small dent/warp on the bottom from the factory. The microsoft store replaced it the next day and gave me my $150 off for being a student. making it $1350 for the best laptop that I've ever owned. I sold my MBP15 (2017) for this computer and I haven't regretted it once. Plus the Razer Blade 14 (2015) I had B4 that was trash and i had to get something with a better battery life.
