And as long as it has a good panel, how much does build quality really matter in a monitor? You just have to touch it a couple times a day to turn on and off

I would love to use one of those sli fittings but it would be easier to work with acrylic tubes because of the non standard lenght

Nickel is more resistant to corrosion. The nickel is only a surface layer. It is actually made of copper.

Seems like human error on the processing and shipping. Contact them so they send you the right one.

No there is no difference it's just the nickel will look better to some people.

Because they make the best dyes and they last longer then other brands

You can't really compare the performance though

I wouldn't ruin the look of the 900D with a bay res because of the extended bay covers it would look odd.
 
I you want to have more than one res it should only for aesthetics. There is no real advantage to having more than one res.

Hi there, as many can see not been registered on the forums for long. This is my first build log on the site.

Reason behind why 900D case choice. I’ve been on case hunt since it bought my cm stalker case in 2004 that stayed with me for 3 major hardware upgrades. Looked at Li-lian cases D8000 or PC70, cases from Caselabs and ofc the 800D, all possible fulltower cases but none of them felt quite right. All had some weird gimmick that made them undesirable. Then at start of 2013 i read some rumors about a massive case from Corsair and at CES and i saw the press photos of the 900D + the intervju Linus made with George. I was HOOKED. I just had to get one :P

You can easily do that without issues.

I thought of that but, I want to have a visible reservoir.
I also had the idea of a fake reservoir on the motherboard side and one that actually feeds the pump on the back

More expensive is better in general. But just go for what looks good.

I don't really like the look of the Frozen Q reservoirs.
 
My other idea was to create a custom holder to show a tube res through the optical bays

To be fair, Linus' opinions on cases isn't the best. He is using a very outdated case that even when modded doesn't really work correctly. I mean he himself hates the Switch 810 which is one of the best cases around.
 
TTL has one of the best mindsets to review and judge cases because he thinks about them more than "at stock". His opinion (on cases only) is way more valid in my eyes than Pauls', Linus' or really anyone elses.
 
And yes this case is one of a kind. Find me another case with hidden ODD drives, a hidden PSU, and a place to hide your pump and rad. While still showing off all your important hardware and loops.
 
The only problem with this case is the bottom where the drive cages are, but those are moddedable.
 
I do know this is probly the wrong forum for this discussion, most people here just buy things and chuck them together, lol. No creativity.

Hello there, new to the forum, but I assumed some of you might be interested in this.
 
So a few months ago, I set out to build my own keyboard. Some due to the experience of it, some because I wanted to try the HHKB layout, but can't drop the money on one.
So then I started.
 
First things first, mapping out the key layout:

 
I ended up swapping the place of left alt, and super, due to keycap availability. In the end, it also does make more sense, comparing it to normal key positions.
 
Designing the plate, and case, for the keyboard was pretty simple. Five layers of 3mm acrylic gives a good height, and plenty of room for wires inside.

 
Next was the wiring. I whipped up a quick diagram for it.

... A little too quick, as I discovered too late that the diodes should be reversed...
 
The keycaps arrived, and it was time to figure out which keys were to be used. I made a few changes to this afterwards, but it has the general feel of it.

 
 
The cuts arrived not too long after, and I could start putting it together!


I'm using MX Jailhouse Blues for it (which are absolutely awesome!), lubed and stickered.
 
I got the layers in smoke-coloured acrylic. It looks absolutely fantastic with my keycaps of choice!

 
 
I started soldering away....


Almost done with the matrix (Except for the reversed diodes).
 
Now for the controller

I chopped up a usb cable, to have a small footprint, that could fit between the switches. It extends out of the body of the case, so it's a more flexible detachable cable.
 

I use a Teensy 2 as the controller. Five rows, and 15 columns gives a lot of spaghetti to manage, but a bit of organization made it somewhat trivial. The firmware is a fork of Hasu's TMK_Keyboard firmware
 

And there it is, all soldered up and done! Except for a few missing screws, those should be in the mail within a couple of days.
 

You can see the wires going to each of the columns, neatly tucked away. Okay, maybe not so neatly, but consider it a prototype!

So, conclusion time!
In hindsight, I shouldn't have bothered with easy-swap holes for the switches. The reality of it is, since the plate is twice as thick as recommended, and there's no pcb, the switches aren't held down nearly as much as one would want. I've been using it for a couple of hours, and it's not an issue for far majority of the keys, although the backspace is pretty loose.
The middle of the board could also use some support from underneath, as putting the G and H keycaps on, especially, was a little frightening. But it worked out in the end, and it's not much of an issue for normal use. I don't usually put 300g+ weight on the middle keys.
 
With that said, for the limited time I've been using this, I absolutely love it! I've ordered a aluminum plate, and steel bottom, which should add some good weight, and general durability to the keyboard, even though it might have a negative effect on the overall looks.

There's way too much empty space. I didn't realize the case was so massive.

I have considered the mofset block... I am just trying to get my hands on a acetel/nickel before putting down money :) We will see!
