  1. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I hadn't been on the LTT forum today. I am using a gtx 1070 and 16gb of ram, so that stuff isn't really a problem. I am just looking to get the absolute best performance possible for the money
  2. Oh, thank you very much! I didn't know that... I thought it was only z370 motherboards which is what really turned me off from going the intel route
  3. Hello everyone! To start, I'll give some context as to why I am upgrading my parts. I do a lot of video editing and gaming, and I'm looking to upgrade my computer to do both of those things quite effectively. My budget is at most $450 USD right now although any lower is of course great, because $50 is being reserved for a case, but more money for a better case is always cool. I've been flip flopping between the Ryzen 5 2600x Ryzen 7 2700x, and the 8700k. The 2600x is by far the most cost effective, the 8700k is the most well rounded, and the 2700x will give me an extra edge in multicore based applications. I would much appreciate some guidance from what you see is the best course of action. Thanks in advance!
  4. Simple question, should I get a performance mx or a mx Master mouse. If you don't know what I am talking about here's a link to each one: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Master-Wireless-Mouse-Computer/dp/B00TZR3WRM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1476296213&sr=8-2&keywords=performance+mx https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Performance-Mouse-Large/dp/B002HWRJBM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476296213&sr=8-1&keywords=performance+mx
  5. Just what I wanted to know!
  6. I have never experimented at all with over clocking and I don't intend on it any time soon so suggesting would be futile. However I would like to know what kind of an increase in performance I can expect from factory overclocked 3rd party rx 480s vs reference or something custom that hasn't really been boosted.
  7. Possibly stupid question but, if the gpu has things to do it can't accomplish, is it possible the cpu would try and pick up the slack?
  8. Yeah, I have optifine and fastcraft, so it is optimized fairly well. I have just gotten to the point where with the mods I have, almost everything I make is a tile entity that takes more power to run.
  9. I have not, however I have never attempted it and don't know how to go about it. It's a quad core 3.2ghz
  10. I've got a 500w psu, that should do me fine. My trouble is just that it's confusing for the problem to be in the gpu when the cpu usage is what is being driven up. I don't know how to find the root cause of the problem
  11. Hello everyone! I was wondering what I should upgrade my computer hardware to based off of my needs. I make videos on youtube specifically for gaming, and I have a sharp 480 USD budget. My current specs are: i5 6500 r7 250 (I know, it's disgusting) 16gb ram and that is really the relevant stuff. My computer has been starting to lag as my main series is on HEAVILY (150+ mods) modded minecraft and my frames drop drastically at my base due to cpu usage mostly but I can't help but suspect my gpu also... So I need to know should I upgrade to an i5 6600k and an rx 480 8gb or stick with my current cpu and have a more drastic gpu upgrade (ie. gtx 1070) No opinion is wrong unless it suggests getting a 24 core xeon. Thanks for the help!
  12. First off I apologize if this is in the incorrect sub-forum. Second, I intend on buying an audio interface from full compass and would like to know if it's a reputable web site. Thank you that is all.
  13. Thanks! We should start work in about a week or so.
  14. Hi! Soon I will (most likely) be uploading a build log of images and such about a new wooden/aluminum computer case. The body will be comprised mostly of wood with the front and back being solid wood pannels with hole shaped for io and hopefully some nice curved edges. The top and two sides will have glass viewing panels with the top being on a hinge (again this is the plan and not necessarily the final product) and the sides being fully removable. The actual shape of the case will be a cube with the motherboard suspended in the middle on 2 wooden or metal plates/rods. The psu will be directly underneath and the drive bays next to or above it. Might get some leds or something to hook up to it. We have a few ideas apart from that main build such as including 2 power buttons, 1 turns it on and if held, triggers a force shut down like usual. But the other, is like a macro that goes through the proper shut down process in the software, however that would be a pain to do. This version is also not the only one we have planned but rather another which will be much more modular and able to network together with multiple of the case stacked on top of each other along with the motherboard as a hole being movable on a rail and a hinge to move it up. Anyway tell me what you think of the idea and if you think it will work. Also any constructive criticism or ideas are very welcome. Afterthought: The actual hardware that is to go in this case will be some older and some miss matched hardware from other builds. 6gb ddr2 ram, Core 2 Quad Q6600, gt 720, a psu pulled from a computer from 2013-2014 (I don't actually remember XD) and a gigabyte micro atx motherboard that was bought for something but never used. The reason it's not better is because I am only spending $20 on the parts and the rest is going towards building the case.
