So recently I managed to use a super long HDMI to set up a TV from my PC. I don't watch TV normally and have never really thought of comparing how things look.
It was clear immediately, the TV had much better colour depth and general reproduction of colour accuracy. To the point its now bugging me slightly watching certain media files on my PC as I feel it would be better on the TV. But the PC Master Race is vast and I only got a cheap monitor (£100 GBP new 2 years ago) So I think an upgrade is in order.
Even following Linus Tech Tips and being generally aware of what to look for it is hard to get information about some monitors. I'm currently using an Acer S220HQLBBD Full HD 21.5" LED Monitor. I assume this is a TN panel, the viewing angles are awful and, as mentioned, the colours aren't mega.
So I have a budget of £200 for this. (Around $300 USD). I know IPS monitors are considered the best for colour replication and viewing angles so I know to look for that, but I simply don't know the difference between brands or if one is more reliable or suitable for me than another. I am semi competitive with Starcraft 2, and Dota 2 however I don't touch counter strike where response time is arguably more important, and the current 5MS response time of this monitor hasn't been a problem.
So to make a list of it, I'm looking for a monitor that
-Ideally not more than £200
-Has an IPS panel
-Has at least a DVI/HDMI (I don't think my GTX660 has a Thunderbolt out port)
-I would like tilt, height and swivel adjustments (though if the IPS is as good as I hear this may not be as important)
-Around 22", No bigger than 24" (Current is 21.5 and I'm super happy with that size but it seems more premium monitors are bigger sizes)
-Also 1080p 60 is fine for me atm. Though a 120Hz monitor would be awesome I can't run anything consistently at that FPS
If someone could point me in the right direction that'd be great or give any advice on this it'd be much appreciated cheers guys!
