JimmyGuilbault reacted to AlwaysFSX in FCC Chairman Ajit Pai Opposes White House Plan For Government Run 5G Network
To be fair, Pai is right. The government trying to do anything with infrastructure is a fucking disaster. And it'll end up costing tax payers more money than if you just let companies do it themselves.

JimmyGuilbault got a reaction from Tom Hanks in The intel XEON owners thread.
Lol, I have a Xeon E3-1231 v3 in my Alienware X51. Upgraded from an i3, going to an i5 wouldn't have been worth it and i7s (especially at the time) were too expensive. $250 for quad-core with hyperthreading Xeon was definitely an awesome choice!

I bought a refurbished GTX 960 from MSI and got it for around $50 cheaper than normal. I've been using since summer without any problem.

Most budget friendly option from intel would be the 1231v3.

You can also get an Xeon E3. It costs a bit more/almost same as i5, has similar clockspeeds to i5, but has HyperThreading.
You can't overclock it, but it will give you that HyperThreading for improved multi-core stuff for lower price than an i7.

JimmyGuilbault got a reaction from Brentfisher71 in Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
I'd definitely recommend the E3-1231v3, its priced around the same as a new i5 but with better performance. Its about right between the i5-6600k and i7-6700k. Really great price/performance.

JimmyGuilbault got a reaction from Aereldor in I7 choice
In my rig I decided to upgrade to a Xeon E3-1231v3 from my old i3-4130. Its been too months and this thing is definitely a beast and performance compares well against most i7s. This thing is also $250 which makes it one of the best value CPUs out there. The i7-6700k and i7-4790k are a bit overpriced and performance wouldn't be too much better than the Xeon.

only 8GB and 950 will be better and maybe take for the first attempt the stock cooler. But overall, solid
