So first off, I recommend using "BlueScreenView" by Nirsoft. Great utility that shows not only the STOP error, but also the files that were running when the crash happened.
Your STOP code was 0x00000116. I googled it and found a number of threads saying it was related to an issue with the graphics driver. Try uninstalling your graphics driver and reinstalling it.

For recording gameplay SSD's are the way to go because of the write speed but if you dont wanna record above 720p mechanicals are fine. Don't get an external harddrive tho unless its USB3.0.

As with all overclocking, it is dependent on the individual chip. I can get 5.1Ghz with an evo on my 3770K, but virtually no on else would even get close to that. However, 4Ghz on an evo is possible on the majority of chips. You will have to add more volts, as each chip varies I can't tell you how much more voltage you will need to add. Ideally you would like to have your CPU sitting between 30-40 degrees after overclocking or even lower still. Just don't have your normal load or gaming load temperatures exceed 67.4 degrees

what! 67.4c? thats freezing for intel cpu's.

you won't get very far with that its probably more than that at stock. you want to make sure that you stress test your cpu with something like prime 95 and the temps should be fine up to 80c when running that. if you set your cpu to manual volts to start with then start increasing the multiplier and stressing it at 200mhz intervals. you might get to 4ghz on the stock voltage but i'm sure your will be able to get 4.2-4.4ghz with the cpu under full load without it overheating.

Wat. The HD558 is more expensive than the AD700 in USD but the AD700 is more expensive than the HD558 in pounds (?). Might I suggest the DT 770. I have these and they are pretty good. I cannot compare them to the HD588 since I only used the 558 for like a week. If you need a microphone I recommend the Zalman clip on mic or antlion modmic.

What is the max you are looking to spend? HD558 is still a great choice regardless if you want to spend more. I haven't used them for long but I enjoy my DT 770 80ohm.

edit: AD700 possibly AD900 would be great for its wide sound stage and pretty awesome positional audio technology. They are weak on bass however but you said its k.

ScotFox reacted to h264 in Sound card and headphones combo? Virtual Surround
I can't count how many times I've tried to explain this, but I'll try another way:

My problem with Linus's blanket "get a soundcard" recommendation is that it's much more complicated than just $ = performance with audio.  For each individual there's a matter of what sort of headphones they'd like to plug into their fancy soundcards, and how much of a difference it will make. The main differences as soundcards get more expensive will be:

    1. Features: DDL and DTS Connect for instance
    2. VOLUME (especially the Essence STX and the Phoebus.  This is the main reason people think their soundcards "sound" better)
    3. Sound Quality (better or worse depending on the impedance match/mismatch, not so much the DAC these days.  Amps may add distortion and slew, but it's mostly inaudible to the standard human ear and brain)

People who want to purchase low impedance headphone don't need 2, and 3 may be better or worse depending on the damping factor (your headphones should be around 8x the output impedance of your amp, in this case, it'll be around 10 Ohms for the entire Xonar line.  The higher the factor, the better (Well, there's another problem called "over damping" but it's not really an issue with so few VERY high impedance headphones running around).

Note that means that the Beyerdynamics are perfect matches for the Xonar line, even the 80 Ohm version of the 770 is OK.  I can personally attest my DT990pro sounds fine in my Essence STX.

If all full sized headphones were 250 Ohms, Xonar cards would be fine, but unfortunately the 1,000 pound gorilla in the room is the iPod.  Most headphones are in the 32-64 Ohm range these days so the kiddies don't return them for not getting loud enough in their iPods.  It's fine to design headphones this way, as long as the amps follow their lead.  Problem is, they're not, and it's going to be a real problem soon as headphones like the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro are clearly the future as the maximum power of smartphones ( smartglasses and smartwatches?!?!) drops to save battery life.

Also note, none of this matters an iota compared to the sound of your headphones.  A Beyer will sound like a Beyer, over or under amped. period.

Soundcards and virtual surround effects are overrated, imo - a good pair of stereo headphones works better for Arma than any fake surround on cheap headphones. If you were to get something like Beyerdynamic's DT770 they would literally last you for decades. There's plenty of options like this if you're open to discuss that route.

ScotFox got a reaction from ShearMe in Astro A40 2013 edition, worth it?
Recently returned a pair of the a40s. The mic is quite honeslty a piece of crap compared to the 2012 version. If you are playing on a console these are a great headset, but for pc you aren't getting a good audio expierience for that price. You could easily pick up a pair of senheiser HD558 or even a pc360 if you would prefer an attached mic and then buy a sound card. Hope this helps

ScotFox got a reaction from Vitalius in Looking to upgrade microphone and headset/soundcard NEED AUDIOPHILE!
Hello everyone. I am a gaming youtube creator and a livestreamer! Im looking to improve my sound audio in general. Right now im using a pair of samson sr850 with 7.1 onboard audio with the asrock z77 extreme 6 board. Im also using a blue snowball! Firstly i need to upgrade my microphone as my blue snowball is only good for commentarys and picks up my pc and keyboard and mouse alot when recording live. I have looked at various micsand suggestions of microphones or what to look for would be much appreciated. Secondly i would like to upgrade my headset but i realise that this would require a new sound card. I have some expierience with .headphones but im new when it comes to sound cards. I was looking at the senheiser HD 558s as they use the same drivers as the pc 360s and the features you get for the extra money dont impress me but if you can suggest a better pair that would be great. anyways budget for microphone is around £100 and the sound card and headset would be around £170. Please convert to your own currency. Lastly i would like to mention that if anyone has any good cheap setups that could save me some money that would be appreciated!!!!!

Thank you all so much for your time, just didn't want to make a mistake and regret it as money is tight these days!

    Cheers
