  1. Update: I've decided to return the drive. The M.2 enclosure came and it is completely unresponsive regardless of OS used. So I've given up and gone for a SATA Crucial MX500 instead which fits my needs and build. Thank you for the help @rdkappa
  2. I will try your suggestion in more depth, but so far I've gone through all the BIOS boot options and ensured it's set to UEFI. But the same still happens. I can't get Windows or Linux to recognise the drive because I either get stuck at the BIOS logo screen or boot into an OS with the drive unplugged and therefore the drive isn't recognised as it wasn't connected at boot. So I'm still a little stuck.
  3. Hello all, Specs: Motherboard: H170n-Wifi CPU: Intel 6700k RAM: Crucial CT16G4DFD8213 16 GB (2x8GB) GPU: MSI RX5700 Mech OC Problematic SSD: Used Samsung mz-vpv512 BIOS Version: f22e (latest AFAIK) I've been in the process of upgrading my PC and the last step is to an NVME drive. I ordered this specific model as it is one of the only NVME drives compatible with this motherboard. The drive arrived today and I inserted the drive and booted into windows to check the drive health and speeds etc. I formatted the drive and it was recognised as an empty drive in Windows - all good. I shutdown the PC to prepare moving the boot drive to the new drive. And now the PC won't boot. I get stuck at the 'logo picture' screen and nothing responds. I've tried leaving it 20+ mins and nothing happens regardless of input. I removed the M.2. and the PC boots absolutely fine, but reconnecting results in the same hanging situation. I have tried booting to a live Linux boot drive but this causes one of two issues. Either the new drive isn't recognised or it hangs on the logo screen preventing me from booting into Linux or Windows. I have also reset the BIOS fully. I've also gone through and slowly tweaked related settings such as Boot options etc and all result in the same hanging in the new drive is connected. I've disconnected all the SATA drives and tried with just the M.2 attached and that didn't work either. I currently think the issue is either the new drive itself or the motherboard in some way like faulty M.2. slot or BIOS option issues. But I am currently a bit stuck on the next steps to try and get this working. The last thing I am trying is ordering an External M.2. enclosure to try on another PC or boot device to see if I can get any OS to recognise the drive and hopefully reformat the drive or something. But is there anything else I could be trying in the meantime? Thank you in advance! Let me know if you need any more information or clarification.
  4. UPDATE: I got the new cooler. Installed said cooler. Works like a charm. Temps are reasonable (not great, but the case won't ever have great airflow). Works much better, and is also a little bit quiter! Also the temps shown in CAM are the same temps shown on HWMonitor: As you can see from the picture below, the temps are much better! Thanks everyone for their advice, input and replies. Internet Goldstar for all!
  5. Okay, I've ordered that particular cooler, so hopefully that improves it. And based on your advice, I have two Corsair SP120s in the bottom of the case - their static pressure skew, which are both plugged in. On the top I have the slimline fan which came with the case. However, the new CPU cooler would mean that would be removed due to clearance issue. Once the new cooler comes, I'll try it with the fan provided, and if that doesn't work I'll look into probably getting a noctua static pressure fan or something. (cooler is coming Monday) The attached photo shows how much space is around the CPU area. I've done my best with cable management etc, but such a tight case makes anything pretty difficuly.
  6. Just reset CMOS, and checked the entire BIOS. Everything at stock...
  7. Yes, the CPU fan is definitely on. I haven't gone through the BIOS at all, but I reset to optimized defaults. So it should be at stock?
  8. After playing about 20 rounds, with the side panel off and still in the horizontal position, it still reaches about 98c. But still doesn't turn off. However, the GPU is now reaching these temps, which again makes me think it's not the Temp Sensors as @TetraSky suggested. @smittywits I took the side panel off and still the same story. So I think you were right. I don't think the little noctua is powerful enough for the space heater of a CPU. Therefore, I need to find a good low profile cooler which would do a better job of heating a 4790k. I've done a bit of research and found this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A98YGJE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Would this do the job? and yes it does fit in the case - just incredibly tightly. Or are there better options - and looks isn't an issue for me, i won't be looking inside of the case. Thanks!
  9. Shall try tomorrow, it's gone 1am here in the UK. I'll post my results.
  10. The PC has never reboot due to temps. And the 4670k I had before reported good temps, so I don't think it's the motherboard. And while yes it could be the CPU, I believe it isn't because the heatsink burns you if you turn it off immediately and touch the heatsink.
  11. I'll try running it in the vertical position, which would increase the air flow on the intake fans, which might help? I'll also try the open side panel and see how that goes. But would a different CPU cooler be better? While the RVZ01 doesn't have much CPU cooler clearance, I've found a few, one of which definitely has a much larger heatsink than the Noctua I currently have. <- see original post
  12. The case is in it's horizontal postion. The two bottom fans are intakes and the GPU is a reference cooler 980. The top fan is set for exhaust.
  13. Yep, all spinning. And set to full speed.
  14. Here is HWMonitor on both idle and after loading into a zombies map - and not moving. Immediately you can tell the temp difference.# Load: Idle: I then played a couple of rounds (approx 10 mins): Which is a lot better than it's been. I'm going to keep playing to see if I can replicate what I was getting earlier. Didn't take too long:
