    That's awesome

Thanks mate, if we actually get this up in orbit and it works I will be quite happy :D (aka shit my pants)

Just a lot of designing and maths for the moment but I'll make sure to keep you guys updated!

  2. For anyone else still reading,

We are starting to receive funding from Sponsors to hopefully reach our goal of 25k, We have nearly finished manufacturing our engineering model and the software aspect of things are done thanks to our software engineer.

We will go to a satellite conference in the Europan Space agency Astronomy Center this September to show off our satellite and hopefully find some contacts, Hopefully we get administrative stuff moving to start requesting launch approval and frequency coordination from the International Telecommunications Union.

  3. Looking for people to help out (Read below)

Been a while since the last update but a lot of stuff has happened, mainly research and contacting people. There is a lot of stuff to explain but summarized as much as I can, I changed over the mother ship architecture to a pocketqube (5x5x5cm) and contacted a bunch of people who worked on previous satellites and companies for possible authorizations.

Long boring text ahead explaining in detail:

Realistically if we want to get something up in space we need to launch it using a standardized formfactor, the most common picosatellite formfactor is the cubesat  (10x10x10cm) but recently the pocketqube has gained popularity since it is currently the smallest launchable formfactor. Therefore our small sprites will be launched from the pocketqube mothership.

So, now I had that in mind, I wanted to see just how far this could be theoretically taken. So here is the long boring process of emailing a bunch of people. But in summary I contacted Alba orbital and Gauss that quoted me 25k for the launch and 16k for the launch respectively (Q4 - 2019), these launches are currently purely theoretical until there is a working prototype built and funding is another issue but I could invest some money in making a crowdfunding campaign though once again this is purely theoretical, right now the focus is finishing a prototype by november.  I also got in contact with Stuart from the 50$ sat to discuss some issues with RF. Solar cell provider has also been found (Trisolx) and they can supply triple junction gallium arsenide cells. Ultimately I am in contact with Tom  (CEO Alba Orbital) discussing the approval issues with launching such small satellites from a pocketqube, will hopefully be contacting people soon to see if we can actually launch 2x2x0.2cm boards from a 5x5x5cm satellite. The radio protocol we will be using is LoRa due to its low power consumption and long range, it can also be picked up with 20$ worth of parts.

This is the current to do list in the next month.

    - Pass my HAM amateur radio operator license (needed to transmit to satellite for tests etc)

    - Sort out the regulations involved with launching sprites

    - Design MPPT/Power management board (Looking for people to help, simple circuit design to check my work)

    - Start working on the code for the satellite (Looking for people to help here too, couple things to work out)

    - Design pocketqube frame and deploy mechanism (Start looking for CNC workshops that can mill the part)

That's it for now, seem like its really advanced from the beginning and I cant wait to start working on a prototype, research & design for now!

I am doing up a old socket 945 motherboard but pc won’t past boot when atx12v is unplugged but when it’s pluged it it turns on for 5 seconds then shuts down have replaced the power surply but still nothing please help

Possibly an issue with the motherboard causing a short circuit, is the psu tested with other motherboards?

I'm sure many of you are like me in that they don't upgrade everything at once, maybe you do a CPU upgrade or a GPU or a full platform, maybe you migrate to a new case. My question to you is this, at what point does it count as a new PC?

My gut feel is that it's either:

    a) When you upgrade the platform (New MOBO and probably new CPU)

    OR

    b) When more than 50% of the major components is new

    OR

    c) When no original parts remain.

I'm inclined to go with option A because I know storage is something not many people will upgrade as often as a CPU or GPU and things like cases often last several builds.

    What do you think?

New platform usually involves a CPU, Motherboard and sometimes ram upgrade, I would consider that a new PC.

It probably aged since you bought it. It's just low quality.

I mean for 99€ anything that works is a good deal, ill def post it in the tech deals if its true. The previous model I bought had quality comparable to a makerbot if well tuned with 3d printed supports and cooling fans.

Don't know how the print quality is but it looks real. They can be bought in china for 80€.

I mean I payed 160€ for the same model a year ago and the parts are probably worth less than 50€ its just a bunch of motors and an arduino.  Worst case scenario, Ebay always helps the customer.

I have no knowledge in solar and inverters and all that. I have no idea what it all means. But I have been starting to watch @jehugarcia recently, about his Power Wall. I have been wanting to recreate that, but for under $100. I know I will need a battery, to take all the charge in. I need a solar panel, to charge the batteries, and I need something that connects to the solar panel, that gives the correct amount of voltage and amps to charge the batteries.

Now, my budget. Yes, it is $100. That is nothing. I know. I can barely buy a solar panel with it, let alone batteries and an inverter?

I can choose out of these 2 panels.

    Choice 1

    Choice 2

Now I need batteries. 18650 is the obvious choice. I need to hook them up to something.

Basically, I need the whole process explained to me, please.

Buy some used deep charge batteries and solar panels, for  100$ you cant do much.

The Diagrams point to there being a computer to convert the Submasters to the parallel interface.  I actually tried connecting the submaster board directly to DMX via the parallel link, and nothing happened.  I will grab an old dell 760 from my work which I know already has windows 7 and a native Serial and Parallel port built in.  Also not opposed to going back to windows XP. A few of the programs I found were originaly written for Win xp anyway so it probably wouldn't hurt to try. Thanks for the help!

The original software is native to W95 so I would recommend XP or earlier, Good luck!

I bought an entire radio at a garage sale that i can listen to airplanes on, only works for about 30km each way and cant transmit, but its pretty cool.

    What antenna are you using?
