I decided to build a home file server after completing my first gaming/workstation PC build. I enjoyed the process of building a computer too much that I just needed another project. I got sick of storing my media collection on external HDD's trying to keep track of where everything was and trying to have everything backed up across multiple drives.

I have this file server set up using a RAID 5 configuration using 5x3TB drives which gives me a total of 12TB usable storage space (10.8TB's formatted). The purpose of this server is to back up all the PC's in the house, as well serve as a single location for all my media so I don't have to keep track of everything across multiple PC's and external HDD's.

If you would like to check out my other build log it's named 'SilentCure' and is pinned under the 'Build logs of the week' section of 'Build logs'.

Any Q's please feel free to ask. Thanks for checking it out!

NF-A14, but it's not really equivalent. Because the NF-F12 is pressure optimized, the NF-A14 is more airflow optimized.

Just put together a new gaming rig thought Id share the build, this is going to be used for gaming, streaming and video editing. Went over budget somewhat but hoping this will last a few years to come.

    Parts:

    Corsair 760t
    Maximus VII Ranger
    Intel I7 4790K
    16gb 2400mhz Hyper X Ram
    Corsair H105
    2 X GTX 970 Strix 3.5 GB Editions lol
Superflower Leadex 850 watt Gold full modular PSU
    Samsumg 250GB 850 Evo SSD
    WD Black 2TB HDD
    ROG Swift Monitor

The only thing I want to add is some LED fans for the Radiator and the SP fan for the back but that comes next month.

Apologies but my camera aint the best but Im pretty happy with the result.

I have a GTX 980 with a 1440p screen and it maxes just about everything at 60 fps with maybe a couple dips here and there. Keep in mind at 1440p you don't need much AA. The 980 is definitely powerful enough for the time being at 2560x1440, but if you don't need the power now and you can wait a couple months for a possible new release then go for it.

Unless you put crazy AA on, the only games I've had trouble hitting 60+ on all the time are ARMA 3 and a couple large-scale strategy games (Total war with two full size armies can get pretty brutal).
The only other one I can think of right now is Company of Heroes 2. It doesn't really make sense to me- it looks pretty good, don't get me wrong, but not better than Crysis 3 or Metro LL.

If you want you can look at it like Far Cry 1 to 2, and 2 to 3. You won't be able to run it well then.
