  1. There is a lot of stuff/black magic in some vm setups like with xenserver or somthing qemu based. You can clone a master that you can setup for you specific use anf clone it a bunch. Also if the use of the hardware isn't a 100% Simultaneous then you could over provision cores to you vms and with sriov you could do the same als with the gpus (sriov is awesome but do some research). Then the only big cost left would be ram. But be warry, you could have a lot of network congestion if the throughput of you wireless solution is not high enough, that is verry dependant on how you provide your students whith the acces to te vms. They finally could have acces to they're networkshare via they're logon through the domain controller.
  2. Now I am running on POP os 19.04, haven't had anny problem since. edit : If I don't count the semy dead / unstable Vega 56 card
  3. In what settings do I need to set my main sisplay as primary, is it not set right in the first picture?
  4. I can run it in 'virtual desktop mode' but that is allsow not the ideal solution because my gems gets pushed down by the notification barr at hte top. How do I pass the option trough to the program running under wine for with display it wants to runn on? When I did this on ubuntu previosly I could select my monitor.
  5. I am using lutris to configure wine. I am actualy trying to install a launcher (only for windows: waregaming center). (not yet on lutris) My gpu currently is a rx580, i allsow have a gtx1070 (trying to settup a windows vm for non comtaible games), a vega 56 in the mail. I am using 3 monitors 1 x 27 inch and 2 x 19 inch monitos. The launcher is not the problem that I can do with watt ever I want But my problem is with the game, it allways starts on the most right monitor of my settup. I did this setup once before with ubuntu the exact same way with lutris, in that instance I got the ingame option to select a monitor. This time around I did not have to jugle with drivers (now using fedora) the problem now is that I only get th X11 display option instead of my 3 monitors to choose from. Is my problem with drivers or with wine. At the moment I do not have a cleu where to start looking.
  6. I have recently switched from ubuntu to fedora. So here I was reinstalling my games. Every thing working better then on ubuntu, exept in game I can not choose with display my game is displayed on, in stead I get only 1 option: a virtual display (game starts on the wrong monitor) an X11 standard display. What am I doing wrong? I don't have a clue. P.S. still an uber noob when it comes to wine.
  7. Dear Forum Members, Do you often watch the WAN Show? Linus mentioned in one of the last WAN shows this: "I think Last pas auto rejects you the fist password that you put in." Or something along those lines. (It was one of these around halfway through: or ) So I noticed this to, is anybody else experiencing this? There will be a poll. And please do correct me if I am wrong about the video. Thanks
  8. thx for the help i can open them now. That it time I that i mounted it successfully, i think i mounted it as read only. Viewing them in windows seems to have fixed it.
  9. Dear Reader, I have had some trouble with windows running stable for the last 3 weeks. And of course it crashed in the beginning of this week at the worst moment. I am not able to recover the windows install. So I want to go back to Linux (Ubuntu 16.04.3 (because Ryzen)) for this server of mine. All said and done: I try to mount the ntfs partitions (because +-10Tb of data) and I get this error: Status (terminal): PC@Ubuntu-VM-Hosty:~$ lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sdf 8:80 0 2,7T 0 disk ├─sdf1 8:81 0 128M 0 part └─sdf2 8:82 0 2,7T 0 part sdd 8:48 0 931,5G 0 disk ├─sdd2 8:50 0 931,4G 0 part └─sdd1 8:49 0 128M 0 part sdb 8:16 0 2,7T 0 disk ├─sdb2 8:18 0 2T 0 part ├─sdb3 8:19 0 746,4G 0 part └─sdb1 8:17 0 128M 0 part sde 8:64 0 931,5G 0 disk ├─sde2 8:66 0 931,4G 0 part └─sde1 8:65 0 128M 0 part sdc 8:32 0 117,4G 0 disk ├─sdc2 8:34 0 116,9G 0 part └─sdc1 8:33 0 500M 0 part sda 8:0 0 2,7T 0 disk ├─sda4 8:4 0 500G 0 part ├─sda2 8:2 0 300G 0 part ├─sda5 8:5 0 931,4G 0 part ├─sda3 8:3 0 20G 0 part ├─sda1 8:1 0 128M 0 part └─sda6 8:6 0 1T 0 part nvme0n1 259:0 0 27,3G 0 disk ├─nvme0n1p3 259:3 0 7,6G 0 part / ├─nvme0n1p1 259:1 0 1,9G 0 part [SWAP] ├─nvme0n1p4 259:4 0 17,7G 0 part /media/Optane └─nvme0n1p2 259:2 0 75M 0 part /boot/efi PC@Ubuntu-VM-Hosty:~$ sudo mount -t ntfs-3g -o remove_hiberfile /dev/sda2 /media/Vm The disk contains an unclean file system (0, 0). Please resume and shutdown Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume read-only with the 'ro' mount option. PC@Ubuntu-VM-Hosty:~$ What am I doing wrong here or what am I forgetting? (I have done this succes fully in the past with Ubuntu 14.03) edit: Yes, i am running optane nvme on ryzen as een ssd
  10. I am not that experienced with steam in-home streaming. So I have this situation in mind, would it work, what could be the possible problems/malfunctions? But would it be possible to have a Ryzen server run a VM on there and share a 1070 or higher with the VM, run steam on there and let steam update automatically. Then as client, you could have a very normal/mediocre system with a FreeSync supported GPU, would the FreeSync work and have any effect? Thanks in advance.
  11. Update: I'm doing a fresh install of windows because i need The full functuinaliy back.
  12. Here is an update: - I measuerd the voltage on the USB ports and I had a normal 5V - I did a BOIS update, now I'm on the F6g version of the bios But my problem is still not resolved Edit: - I went searching in windows event viewer and after some searching I think i found the sollutionn to one of my problems: there was an error that my graphics card was not installed porpperly and that the RDS was not able to use it
  13. The USB controller thing would be a wierd thing, because i tested it in every usb port (usb 2.0 3.0 and 3.1) my ps2 controller does not work either but that is heilighted in device manager. I had the isssue once on my main pc, when my freind pulled out my mouse, all my usb controllers crashed simultaniusly, when rebooted, the problem was fixed.
  14. Dear reader, I have a bit of a problem with one of my windows 10 machines, this machine is kind of my buget version of a server. The important specs are: - Motherboard: Gigabyte AX370-Gaming 5 (Bios version F4) - Cpu: R5 1600X (@stock for stability) - RAM: Some kingston 16 GB (@stock 2133Mhz) - GPU: nVidea GTS250 msi twinfrozer - PSU: Corsair rm 650x (because lol hard drivers) - a bunche of drives and one boot ssd - a intel gigabit nic This machine runs Windows 10 Pro with no problems until last week. (great timing, I have exams) I could not log in to my desktop like usual I get this error message: (Rough translation) "Can't connect to remote desktop. Try to reconnect." So I try this three times. then i check everyting else, the network, tryed an other PC. (when I ping the machine it respondes) So I tried my luck with my vm's on there, they have no problems, I can connect to them, they are normal. The next step was to get a mouse, key board and monitor. So when I hooked those up the machine didn't register the mouse and keyboard. So when I rebooted it, I went in tho the bios to tweak the fan-speeds, every thing worked there. But when i got in to windows, my mouse didn't work, All the lights where on but it windows didn't register the input. The first thing i did was unpluging it and plugging it back in, now I had no lights. By now I whanted to know what was the cause of this, So went into divice manager an manualy detected the mouse, but still no input in windows. And thats where I'm at, I can't use a mouse and i can't connect with remote desktop. If noboddy knows a solution I will reinstall windows after my exams are done. If I made some bad grammar or spellings errors, pleas point them out. When I don't responde imediatly, I'm probably making an exam. P.S. Anyone every tried to use windows wiith just a keyboard? Edit: The mouse and keyboard are a Microsoft Basic set (lol compatibilaty)
