SystemofaSyndrome got a reaction from LowSpecFalcon in [WIP] Forum Redesign
Hey guys, I'm working on another design for the site, this time it's meant to be a more Material based design, it's not done yet, so this is an early design and so please keep that in mind.
If you don't like material, don't sit here and complain, but if you want to share ideas then go ahead.

I downsized the image to fit the screen better, sorry for low quality.

Second gen Ryzen has issues with 3200mhz compared to 3000 which should run perfect. You also want timings under 18, like 16-18-18-18-36 because the timings get desynced with the cpu when they're too high. LevelOneTechs has a great video on it but I can't link sadly since I'm on a 30 day no Youtube challenge lol.

    Here's the ram I'm using on Zen2 https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232418?item=N82E16820232418&source=region&nm_mc=knc-googleadwords-pc&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwords-pc-_-pla-_-memory+(desktop+memory)-_-N82E16820232418&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzbT9-Y3O4wIVDfDACh3hHQXiEAQYByABEgJuu_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

You will, Zen+ is very sensitive to memory speed, it scale very good up to 3000-3200mhz

    1. Yes
    2. Ram comparability is always a factor. your ram will always run on the lowest speed / clock if your rams are not the same
    3. Yes, but you should get the 16gb DIMM instead of a single 8GB stick for reasons above
    4. Im using the MSI B450 Carbon Pro and its very good so far :>. but your mobo seems fine. no need to change it

    EDIT:
    @Ladicius
    Is this the video?

Honestly can't tell if this is a troll, or a 13 year old boasting about something that isn't going to happen.

You'll have better single thread performance on the i7-6700K, which makes it the best for gaming.  16GB of RAM will be plenty A single 1080 will be more than enough for any game you can think of for any think at 16:9 & 1440p.
If you're planning on a lot of video editing, modeling, rendering etc then more RAM and more logical and physical cores will be very useful, so the X99 setup would be preferable but you might trade 1-5 FPS in games.

Yes, you will be getting a performance boost, just not very much of one. The only games you have that are CPU bound are minecraft, fallout and skyrim and these will still work fine with a 3960X.

Rocking 1430mhz here, RAM OCed via bios from 6ghz to 7. Overall, I'm pretty happy with what my Windforce OC can do.

Check out the 970 G1 owners thread they'll have a bunch of overclocking results. I got 1580mhz on the core with +500 on the memory no extra voltage. Woop!

Yes it does. You just proved it does. You end up limiting the FPS due to the bottleneck that the CPU creates by lowering the resolution. It's a side-effect of doing another thing, but it very much DOES.

I don't understand this logic. The CPU bottleneck would still be there, and you still wouldn't be neutralizing it by choking the GPU from running at 2160p.

At 4K it would probably be fine, 1440p would probably bottleneck and 1080p would just be wasting gpu power. Just my guess as we don't have benchmarks yet.

Even with overclocking, there will be a slight bottleneck, since even the 970 (Oops meant 1070) is equivalent to a Titan X. However, it wouldn't be that terrible with a 1070, especially if you can get a decent overclock. If you wanted to get a 1080, though, I would definitely recommend upgrading to a Haswell or Skylake i5 (even something like an i5 6500 would give quite a speed boost)

Can it run with them? Yes. Will it bottleneck? In a lot of games, yes.

Overclocking my reduce the bottleneck a bit, but won't remove it.

Also because you have an AMD chip (iirc) youre limited to gen 2 lanes which means there will probably be bottlenecking if you go with something like a 950 pro. If you werent going to use something like that its better just to get a regular SSD because it runs at sata speeds anyway.

I know some boards wont boot off of the pcie slot. I cant tell you about yours in particular though. Even the Z97's dont like it much. Really the first boards that do it consistently are the new skylake boards because the chipset was designed with nvme in mind. Its going to be hit or miss.

Definitely first thing is update your bios though.

I think you will be alright. You may have to change the boot device that the computer boots off first in the bios.

For that budget and nearfield, 2.0. No sub, no surround. Buying used will potentially net higher quality.

    Buy used
    Not go surround

and a center will not be needed
