  1. That will help. But we also need to build out the infrastructure to support them. That in my opinion is going to be the biggest challenge.
  2. The government has the power to tell companies to take their NDA's and stick them up their ass. The point of providing schematics is to do board level repairs. Instead of throwing shit in the land fill. I mean Jesus Christ we have 3 land fills with in 5 miles of my house. Waste Management just opened the 3rd one after buying the golf course's property. And dont give me that BS about recycling because most of the time this stuff ends up in the land fill, even if you "recycle" it. As far as plastics go recycling largely is a myth. I dont think Waste Management does electronics recycling. While the county does offer hazardous waste disposal it's only a few times a year and most people dont want to store the stuff.
  3. If they die, then the company dies. Which means no products. Not jobs. And the economy dies.
  4. But will Apple and Samsung do it? Probably not. Shareholders wont take less. At the end Shareholders are the only ones who matter in the relationship. I mean they legally own the company, so the company has to do what the shareholders want. If the EU did force the issue, smaller companies would maybe pull out. Larger companies would increase prices of products and likely offer less of a variety. Shelf space for parts costs money.
  5. The issue is when you increase costs of doing business the business increaeses costs of the consumer. What you propose increases costs. I think a better solution is allowing third parties to make parts. No more software or hardware locks. The only part that should have to come from the OEM would be the main board of the device. Even then they could provide schematics so that those who have the knowledge could potentially fix the boards rather than replace them.
  6. Im pretty sure RTINGS.com proved they were more prone to burn in as well, compared to LG's standard OLED screens. So Im with you, id avoid them.
  7. In my opinion it comes down to how often you like to upgrade. One of the reasons I switched to Apple was due to long term software support on their devices. I hate upgrading my phone. Also I was never in to the whole flashing of ROMs thing on Android. If you plan on keeping a device for many years, buying a newer flagship might be worth it. If you like to change devices semi often then maybe save a little by buying a mid range phone. It also comes down to what you're looking for in features as well. But my way of looking at it, the flagship will probably age a bit better if you want to keep the device awhile. Maybe consider a device that supports 3rd party ROMs so you can extend the life as well.
  8. It was in a sealed Chick Fi A bag. Taped shut. With a receipt on it. Now if it was a random brown paper bag, or it was just left open for the world to see, I probably wouldn't have touched it. Most restaurants tap or staple the bags shut.
  9. Seems to be a standard ONT. Check to see if they use PPPoE, which would require a user name and passwords to be put in to the router for service. However, any router should work. At the bare minimum Id say a WiFi 5 router. Bare in mind the WiFi 7 spec is set to be fully complete by early next year. So even WiFi 5 is getting old. I bring this up because one of the routers you have up in the OP is a WiFi 4 router which is single band. You want at least a dual band router and WiFi 5 and above has to be dual band because of the standard. 2.4 Ghz in many areas is overloaded therefore you can have connectivity issues such as poor signal, ping spike, you name it. I do have some experience with TP Link, they are probably one of the better options for budget routers at least the one I used. ASUS has decent routers from what I have read as they do have a mesh feature built in to most of them that makes it easy to build out a mesh network if you live in a larger home. I have the Synology RT2600AC and its been a great router but I paid just under $200 USD for it probably 4 or so years ago, at that price it better be great.
  10. The assistant manager will leave meat sitting out for four hours on his desk before he eats it for lunch. He stated when he used to go camping as a kid, they would grill hot dogs on Friday and eat the hotdogs off the grill for the entirety of the trip.
  11. Those are rookie numbers. Cox got over a Billion dollar lawsuit for similar thing.
  12. It was Chick Fil A. It had a 11:45 order time on the receipt, but who knows how long it sat. The guy who ate it said it didn't seem warm anymore. What's really fucked up, is they had 2 shakes with this order. The dumb delivery driver just left it at the door and left. This is why I dont use any of these delivery services. The ONE time I tired door dash the driver didn't follow the instructions provided. Left my food sitting outside the will call door, lucky it was winter, so the food didn't spoil.
  13. So lunch time hit. And the people who go get food on lunch or sit out in their car noticed a door dash order not meant for our place of business. Our warehouse has at least 2 other business in it. Door Dash drivers fuck up all the time and cant see to deliver to the right place. Just a few weeks ago a order from Saturday was found at our Will Call door on Monday. So what would you guys do in that case? Bear in mind we did check the receipt to see if any contact details were on there. We did see if a place of business was listed, but nothing.
  14. It’s not about software. It’s about giving corporations access to the data. I rather the government to hire people in house to do the work. As far as software goes, the government can look over the code to ensure it’s ok. When the government uses a third party they never do the due diligence of ensuring compliance or accountability. This is why we have 15 programs across 5 Federal agencies to expand broadband, but have large areas of the country that still need broadband.
  15. I never understood the people who upgrade yearly. I mean Apple does what 5 to 6 years of software support on the iPhone? Me, I have no issue buying a brand new device vs used. But I plan on keeping the device for at least 3 to 5 years, hopefully closer to the 5 mark. My iPhone XR still works great for the most part.
  16. Stop long term support of the iPhone. iPhones have like 5 or 6 years of software support. Cut that down to about how long the battery lasts, give people less of an incentive to buy a new battery vs a new phone.
  17. They put the stupid law in place. They allowed third parties access to the data. So yeah, the government is to blame. These data breaches happen every other week. The government knew what would happen.
  18. Good luck. They dont build them like they used to. I still use an old 720p TV from 2009 because its built like a tank and wont die. In the time Ive had this TV, my mom has had 3 TV's. When they started the whole "Smart TV" craze they left quality at the door. Most TV's dont have this now days. HOWEVER, companies like VIVO do make VESA stands that would provide this requirement. Its just that you would have to spend extra on it.
  19. I can count on one hand the amount of times I have visited Reddit. For me I prefer the LTT forums or DSLreports.
  20. Thats not even the best part. A current gen MacBook Air gets all day battery life, Apple claims 18 hours. This headset gets what 2 hours? This is a device that would only be used in the comfort of ones home. Plus the MacBook Air, or even a Pro is going to be cheaper and probably more usefully.
  21. I have the K6. Defiantly worth the money.
  22. We get 400/10 for $92 a month with our own modem and 1.2 TB of data a month. 200/10 is $82 and I think the next tier down is either 50 Mbps or 25 Mbps.
  23. T Mobile and Verizon offer wireless internet for $50 a month. We pay Comcast $92 a month, the next plan down is $82 a month. So not really a price premium for wireless. The only benefit for cable in my area is you don’t have to deal with CGNAT and you can use your own equipment.
  24. You’re talking the desert and not the bad part of Detroit. I’d say you will probably be fine. Like others said be aware of wild animals. To be frank I would have been more concerned about going to the deserts surrounding Las Vegas, as there are many bodies out there, Utah probably not that much.
  25. Here in the US Verizon and T Mobile both offer Unlimited on wireless. Granted at least on T mobile home internet customers data is on the lowest priority across their network but you can use all the data you need. Every major cable provider besides Charter has some kind of caps and overages.
