  1. As long as you buy physical media. But there is a cost to drive to store all the data, more if you want high resolution/HDR content. Even streaming providers are fucking up. They are all stumbling over the password sharing, all are trying to push ads or make you pay more. They are literally giving me more reason to just go with out their product.
  2. It might be the content owners. I know with the ATSC 3.0 spec here in the US they added DRM for DVR's. The DVR has to be able to download a license from the internet and they can set an expiration date on the recordings. All because big media are greedy. That might be a big part of it. Possibly like you said, they might not want to store all that content long term.
  3. To be honest when the launched the stores AI was kinda meh, it was still really really new. They probably could have AI do the job now. My guess is Amazon doesnt want to take the time to build and train an AI to do it.
  4. Utter BULL SHIT. If you ask me. All these greedy companies are doing is giving me a reason to NOT buy their product.
  5. I already know the reason. Worked for Samclub from 2013 to 2015. I will not work any job thats majority customer service. And I will not work any job that does cash handling.
  6. Thats exactly what happens. Friday night at Walmart or Meijer we have maybe 2 manned lanes. But these stores dont want to pay people and therefore have a hard time finding help. Especially with all the warehouses in the area who will pay more. The best part of working in a warehouse is you dont have to deal with the general public, which has gotten worse over the last 4 years (too many dont know how to act in public).
  7. Meijer is bringing it back. They dont always have a dedicated bagger but many times they do. Its kinda nice. Since the remodel they have increased the number of self check outs, decreased the manned isles (but they dont have a majority open most days anyway), and added bagggers.
  8. I think the biggest issue is finding people that want those jobs. Most of the cashier's at our local Walmart for example are older people, if I had to guess those who are not making it on social security. Hell my aunt works at Meijer for that exact reason. I have observed that the younger generation likes it with less human interaction. I do to as well, but Im heavily an introvert due to my time working in customer service.
  9. Every time I have used it. Which is about 4 or 5 times.
  10. The problem I have with scan and go at least at Meijer, I have to wait for a clerk as they have to scan 4 items at random from the order. So I’m stuck there with a thumb up my ass waiting as the clerks are helping out other shoppers at self checkout.
  11. In the last week I have paid off $18,000 of debt. Paid my car loan off 3 years or so early. I just paid off 2 of my 8 student loans and even put a little towards a 3rd. Im hoping to have that 3rd one paid off by the end of the year. Just keep widdling down until they are fucking gone.

      *whittling, just FYI

  12. Biden posted a tweet about how he talked to President Xi Jinping about US/China relations and other world issues. Im not sure if he did that before or after he forgot where he was......... At this point its getting comical. We cant put the AI back in the box and really all these restrictions do is slow down the inevitable.
  13. The issue with that is its a pain to do stuff. Want to switch cell carriers? You have to remember to unfreeze your credit at all 3 bureau's. Want to rent an apartment? Same thing. Too many businesses expect to be able to run your credit. I think it takes 24 hours to for them to process a credit unfreeze. Then you either have to remember to refreeze it which I think costs $10 per bureau or you can do a temp unfreeze for a number of days.
  14. Thats a misconception. The reason most American's dont have a pass port is because our country is so freaken huge we dont need to leave to enjoy a vacation. Secondly if traveling by ship or land we can enter Canada and Mexico if you have a enhanced license which is a lot cheaper than a passport. Thirdly most of us could not afford to travel to the EU or ASIA for that matter. Most of us are what you would call poor.
  15. So the Europeans want their laws to apply world wide. But when the US tries to apply its copy right laws you all throw up your arms in protest......... Good luck with that.
  16. Eh. Equifax already leaked half of American's social security numbers. Thats why I keep my credit on Deep Freeze. T Mobile has already been breached like 5 times. Comcast got breached last year. It was only a matter of time for AT&T.
  17. Well, that’s more of guidelines. States can do what they want, both New York and Texas proved that.
  18. No it does not in all cases. The constitution is clear about state rights. Like I stated above. The interstate is federal property. All other roads are the property of the state, county and local municipality.
  19. For the same reason why DRM and copy protection on DVD's and Blurays dont stop people from pirating. Anything done digitally can be faked for the most part. Fake ID's do exist. Like stated above there are no databases that these companies can check an ID against. Furthermore people steal social media accounts. My uncle had his hacked. The dip shit hacker even changed the picture to himself. We had to get in to the account and delete the whole account. If they cant stop hackers for stealing accounts they cant stop kids from making accounts.
  20. Couldn't find anything about that. Even if that was the case. Uncle Sam only technically owns the interstate system, all other roads are under state control. We have had several bridges in our state that have closed for repairs and replace. I think we have had a couple even collapse.
  21. The difference is the clerk looks at a physical ID, and to a certain extent they are trained to look for anything out of place on said ID and the picture has to match the individual who is purchasing the alcohol. A Facebook employee is not going to show up at your house to verify that ID. So that means submitting an ID to Social Media is fucking meaningless.
  22. Well in the case of the US, you would need 50 individual states to agree to have a system, because we dont have a national ID system. Thats never going to happen, the states agreeing or a national ID system.
  23. But how would you verify the ID is genuine and that it belongs to that person?
  24. Sounds like a case of someone who doesn't give a fuck because lets be honest, Best Buy doesn't pay enough for people to care.
  25. Who decides what common decency is? That definition can change person to person, based on moral, ethics and religion.
