Oldaccount1234123 got a reaction from Roll_Like_Rollo in Experiences with non-techies
A girl in my class the other day kept asking if anyone was studying computer science. When someone said they did and offered help, she handed them her iPhone which wouldn't turn on and didn't have a home button. She expected us to magically fix it for her because we were learning computing...

Let me know if you need help with that The WD My Cloud NAS should work perfectly fine for regular home file storage device. Make sure you don't format the storage drive so you don't lose your data.
Have in mind also that the OS with the updates can take quite a big chunk of the SSD's capacity so a 60GB SSD may not be the best choice.

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to SlipperyPete in Could I push a 1440p ultrawide?
yes you could push it and yes it is worth it. Ultrawides are great for movies, games, productivity and much much more. once you go ultrawide you never go back. as long as you have the space lol
PS i push a 1080p ultrawide with an i5 4460 and a gtx 960

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to Mr.Meerkat in Could I push a 1440p ultrawide?
Arma 3 is very badly optimised and very very CPU heavy so you will be fine
With a 6700k and 980ti, you should will be able to push 3440x1440

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to Krzych in Could I push a 1440p ultrawide?
You will have to lower few settings in few most demanding games like Witcher 3 if you want to maintain 60 FPS, but very most of games will run maxed out no problem. If you are not super picky about performance, which you are not if you accept playing in 20-40 FPS range, I wouldn't even look on game that runs like this, you will have no problems.
There are already so many videos and guides about ultrawides so there is no point on writing anything about "is it worth it" and etc.

I would suggest the Fostex TR-90 ( The 80 ohm version ).
Hard to drive but if you can get around that , Then no probelms from there on out.

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to Aereldor in this audio setup any good
It's a little imbalanced. You have all of this incredible mounting gear, but the microphone itself is a little lackluster. Then again that's subjective, although I'd recommend the Audio Technica AT2020 or the Blue Yeti PRO instead.
Furthermore, if you're going to be editing sound as more than a hobby, or want the best possible sound, then I'd recommend headphones with a more flat frequency response instead. The Sennheiser HD 598 cost the same, while the Sennheiser HD 558 are a fair bit cheaper. They're also open-back headphones, which will allow you to more accurately assess soundstage- the ATH M50x headphones are closed-back, and everything's going to sound like it's in a small room with you.

Fake refresh rates...
And HDMI 2.0 Supports 144 Hz.

Oldaccount1234123 got a reaction from Dark_Fuzzy in Where Can I Buy A Good Pre Assembled Gaming PC.
There are several UK based companies such as overclockers, scan and pcspecialist. I don't know if they deliver to the US though. For US based, I found this after a quick google search: http://www.pcczone.com/pc-builder .
In terms of building your own, I hated it when people said it to me, but it actually isn't too hard to build your own. Takes about a day and not too bad if you follow a video. However, pre builts can be just as good

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to Dackzy in General use headphones
sound quality is not the best for the price and they have no soundstage at all. The comfort is not the best and yes I own a pair of m50 and if I could go back in time I would not buy them.

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to Pomfinator in General use headphones
I was about to say, headphone jacks usually don't output clean mono signal if you break them.
Anyway if the HD558's caught your eye I suggest just go for them, great place to start in terms of budget headphones.

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to ZetZet in Can someone please explain the difference
2560x1440 is 16:9
3440x1440 is 21:9 or ultrawide
2560x1080 is 21:9 or ultrawide

Oldaccount1234123 reacted to Sakkura in Can someone please explain the difference
4K is indeed 3840x2160.
1440p is 2560x1440.
Neither of those are ultrawide. Nor is FullHD = 1920x1080.
Ultrawide is basically taking one of the above formats, which have a 16:9 aspect ratio, and increasing the horizontal resolution. So you get 2560x1080 as the ultrawide extension of 1920x1080, and 3440x1440 as the ultrawide extension of 2560x1440. I don't think anyone's done this to 4K yet, but it's probably just a matter of time.
