1080p is 2k. Just so you know, You're probably referring to 1440p which is QHD, not 2k

As far as your build concerns though here's my critique:

    - Swap out the GTX 980 for a 1070
    - Swap out the Motherboard for a Z170 board otherwise you'll be wasting getting a K-series
    - Swap out the PSU for an EVGA G2 (should be same price or similar) or a seasonic S12II (same or better quality and wattage for less)

Seems like a nice solid balanced build.

Id be tempted to go with a 970 because itll be much more power efficient (=less heat), the 390 is a better card but cooling in ITX cases is never optimal.

Its a very good card; I would just worried a bit about power consumption and heat, that said isnt that the case that they put a 980Ti/TitanX in. If so should be alright.

It's an all around better card. It performs better, costs the same, has more than dou let the usable VRAM and doesn't have coil whine.

Hitachi > Seagate for hard drives, and they're cheaper.
Don't get corsair fans, they're loud as balls.
An R9 390 performs better than the GTX 970, and costs the same.
Get the OS from g2a or microsoftsoftwareswap for like 15$, save some cash if you don't have it already.

You don't need to spend that much on a motherboard, get a slightly larger LAN party type case (Maybe a C70?) that can support an ATX motherboard so you don't have to spend so much for a gamer's motherboard.

You can get a cheaper ITX motherboard; unless you want the ROG for awesomeness and bragging rights (Its a cool board).

Did you consider an ITX X99 Rig if you are rendering (maybe less good with ITX because of TDP and cooling it) - This is only worth it for gaming if you are gonna overclock.

Going from ITX to microATX  isnt a huge step up in space but will give you a lot more features and options (also the boards are cheaper).

But please get a better PSU...

Also are you overclocking? If so you forgot to budget a cooler (Id go with an AIO if possible for a SFF case).

I'd do something like this, you've got a 4790k with a 120mm AIO which'll give you a bit of room to do some OCing but I don't reckon it'd be necessary, it's at 4GHz at stock and boosts up to 4.4 so...
I aimed to get everything in that case because it's so damn small. You can fit it in a backpack, no kidding.

Didn't include a disk drive because that case doesn't have space for one and you can just image the windows 10 install disk to a USB stick using another machine. If you really want one, an external one'll come in much handier. You could just get a normal disk drive and one of those SATA to USB converters you can get from ebay for like £3.

I think a R9 390 is better unless you are gonna play on Linux or so...
