  1. http://people.howstuffworks.com/lose-right-to-privacy-when-you-die2.htm I think this site does a great job on explaining this issue. IMO, I think Apple was right in what they did.
  2. It shows the controller inputs (B to go Back, A to Continue) but it flashes to the Keyboard's inputs (Esc to go Back, Return to Continue). When I use M/KB it works flawless, but when I attempt using a controller it just doesn't work. I did notice that when I press the Guide button that the screen flashes to each press. I had a coworker suggest deleting the game's save files to see if it could be an issue there. I'll be giving that a go tonight. IF nothing else works, I guess I'll learn M/KB controls. I just much prefer a controller in some games (this being one) (Edit) Answer in bold
  3. I thought that maybe they added controller toggles, but from what I can see, they did not.
  4. First things first. I'm running Windows 10 and it's up to date. I have uninstalled and reinstalled controller drivers, video drivers, ect. Now my issue: GTA shows me the buttons for the controller, but refuses to accept the input. I've tried multiple Xbone controllers (wired and wireless), multiple 360 controllers (wired and wireless), verifying the game cache, using x360ce (controller emulator), using different USB ports (all of them) , and it still doesn't work. I even did all those combinations while running the game in safe mode. Every controller works with every other game like it should. There is absolutely nothing running on my system that would cause this. Apart from a fresh install of Windows, I have tried everything. Any ideas? A reinstall of Windows is absolutely last resort for me. It's not that I can't do it, but that it literally takes me an entire Saturday to reinstall everything and this time of the year, I just don't have that time.
  5. I've had this issue on multiple games. "ALT + Enter" seemed to fix the issue on all of them if I remember correctly. Also, check the VSync option in the Nvidia control panel and make sure 'On, half-refresh rate' isn't selected.
  6. I had Akrham Asylum and Arkham City, but I didn't have all of the DLC. During a sale, it was better for me to buy the GotY editions than to get the DLC. So after the purchase, having them on my account irritated me. So I got in touch with Steam Support. It was my first and only time doing so. It was quick and easy. After probably 15 minutes of the purchase, AA and AC were off my account and GotY were the only ones on there. After hearing the horror stories about the support, I haven't bothered doing it since. Now, I can finally remove some other non GotY games from my library without possibly being put through the hoops others have gone through.
  7. Exactly. It's like nvenc. It's a bonus for people using Nvidia. AMD users aren't outraged with it running poorly on their cards. Why? Because they simply just can't run it. It's just a bonus for Nvidia users.
  8. Why don't developers just grey out Gameworks options if an AMD card is detected? This can't be hard to do. Right? I couldn't enable EAX back when Halo PC was released. It was impossible from the in game menus because my PC didn't support it. Wouldn't hearing complaints of those options not being available to AMD users be better than hearing the game runs like garbage because some users don't know better? Novice PC gamers likely only know they can run X game in 4K at a playable frame rate so they should be able to play X game that uses Gameworks. However, when it runs like garbage at 1080p, they'll complain about it not being optimized. In reality, it may be because they have options enabled that simply is not designed for their hardware. tl;dr Grey out Gameworks options for AMD users because novice users don't know better.
  9. I don't personally, but I have friends that do. I put all my games to max, check the FPS for a few minutes and then turn settings down if needed.
  10. I'm starting to think that Microsoft and/or Sony have an "exclusive 'optimized' for consoles for x amount of days/weeks/months" deal going on with publishers to draw people away from PCs. When games from developers that have been known for great PC releases give us console ported shit, you have to wonder, right?
  11. I've never gone by the hardware itself. I have always used what engine and APIs the games use. I then stop using next gen and start saying current gen after more games start getting released on the new set than it's predecessor.
  12. Use the highest available preset. If that works well for you, you're good. If not, go a preset down. If that works well for you, then increase a some effects that you would like to see improved. It's a bit trial and error, but after doing it with several games, you can estimate how each setting will effect your system within games. It can take some time to find what works best for your system. If you don't want to take the time, stick with the presets and find what works for you.
  13. THIS! Comfort is what it's all about. If you are uncomfortable with the layout, change it to fit you. I use mouse and keyboard on only a small number of games for this reason. Would I rather use them? Yes, but my hands are freakishly small (my friends compare me to that guy in those Burger King commercials) that using a keyboard can be difficult to reach a key and frustrating when I can't. So find what is comfortable for you and use that. PC is about options and opinions. Everyone game will have different options and everyone is going to have an opinion on those options.
  14. That will happen, for sure. You would think that GTA 5 would have put an end to this discussion for how well optimized that game is and how great it looks. What ever happened to game devs pushing hardware to it's limits to where at the maximum settings wasn't playable on a high end single card system? Who will design the next 'Crysis'? Who will release the next game where the maximum settings are going to require the hardware manufacturers to catch up? It looked like that would have been Witcher 3, but it isn't. I'm still hopeful that the disabled effects are hidden in the code and someone will find a way to turn them on.
  15. I just can't comprehend how people can not see that it's only visual options that will help differentiate NVidia from AMD? Without GameWorks, what would compel one with a 1440p 60fps monitor to purchase NVidia over AMD? It's simply adding optional features to a game. A game lacks visual options, they rage. A game gives several options including additional options if you have a capable GPU and they rage. I can completely understand raging about a graphics downgrade, but I just cannot fathom why some are raging about this. I just can't see things how they see them, which is odd because I can usually see both sides of the argument, but I just can't on this one.
