  1. Hello, I am trying to remove the PL1/PL2 power limiting that comes with XPS laptops using throttlestop. Here is my current configuration: This works for any task that takes <=10min, boosting up to 45W then coming down to ~30W sustained. However, every 10min or so, the laptop is then throttled to 10W, even with the temperature of the CPU at ~75C during these periods, as can be seen through AIDA64: The 'dips' in the bottom red line show the periods where the computer is throttled to 10W, which aligns with a clock speed decrease from ~3GHz to 800MHz. I was wondering if there is a setting or something that I am missing, since the throttling seems to be pretty consistent. Thanks.
  2. Hi There, I was wondering if there would be a noticeable difference between using a direct ethernet cable to my laptop, or using an ethernet to usb adapter connected to a usb 3.0 port. Thanks, Tim
  3. Hi, I just built a new computer but whenever I try to restart / shut down it freezes like the attached picture and does not exit until I hold the power button. Anyone know the solution?
  4. Hi, I currently have DDR4-2400 ram and shipping an i5-6600 CPU which currently only supports up to DDR4-2133 speeds. Will the RAM still be able to work with the CPU (just throttle it) or will they not work with eachother.
  5. Hello, I need to know if the ASROCK H110M-ITX/ac supports 7th generation processors. On the website it states 6th generation, but I know a lot of companies have been making BIOS updates so that they can support the 7th generation as well. Thanks, Tim
  6. I dont know if I will be able to get good enough airflow through this case to be able to overclock
  7. Will I notice the performance increase of an i7 6th gen vs a i5 7th gen? Can I not just update the mother board? I think the razer keyboard is cheaper, that is why I picked it. I have changed the build to include a 480 instead I have updated my list to this: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/jJNgqk PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-7600 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($288.84 @ Vuugo) Motherboard: MSI H170I Pro AC Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard ($158.00 @ Amazon Canada) Memory: Avexir Core Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($109.99 @ Newegg Canada) Storage: Crucial MX300 525GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($169.99 @ Amazon Canada) Video Card: XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB XXX OC Video Card ($310.97 @ NCIX) Case: Fractal Design Node 202 HTPC Case ($89.99 @ NCIX) Keyboard: Corsair STRAFE RGB Wired Gaming Keyboard ($167.30 @ DirectCanada) Total: $1295.08 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-01-22 22:15 EST-0500 I really like the console look of the node 202, cant believe I didnt see that before!
  8. Its nice, but kind of has that im-from-the-80s vibe
  9. Does it not have a reduced clock speed though?
  10. Okay! thanks I will change that in my build What is the wattage of PSU that comes with the node202? Is the 480 good for this case as well?
  11. USD why the 480 over the 1060? And the wattage for my build only is 241W currently
  12. 1. Budget & Location I am currently living in Canada (west coast) and have around $1300 USD of funds avaliable to me. Aim With my current computer I have been limited to only being able to play games such as CSGO and League of Legends. I hope to be able to run more demanding titles such as Hitman and Rainbow Six Seige with my new setup. 3. Monitors I plan to use one (with the potential to upgrade to two) 1920x1080 monitors, as I believe that is the maximum my build can currently handle. 4. Peripherals The only thing that I would really want to change is the keyboard. I tried to find something such as the apple wireless keyboard due to it looking so slick and chic but more ergonomic, however I was unable to find one. I chose the razer one because it has been recommended to my by my friends, however if someone knew about a keyboard with the same style as the apple one, that would be much better. 5. Why are you asking for help? This is my first build and I wanted to make sure that the component and everything are going top quality as I want this computer to last me for a while. I am asking this group for their recommended changes to the build if there are any. For example I was wondering if there was any noticeable difference between the i7-7700 and the i5-7600 for my usage of the computer (I am not doing rendering or anything of that type).
