  1. It's OK I realised after you replied that it could be read two ways. I'd been leaning towards 1440p 60hz so I think I'll go for it then thanks for all the help!
  2. That last question was meant to be a "Which one; 1080p 144hz or 1440p 60hz?" haha
  3. OK thanks! I'll probably grab the A2020+ and some bookshelf speakers then. Thanks for the help
  4. Yeah I get that, but don't some things have a little "screw" for the bare wore and others have sockets for the banana plug? I know this one has those little clip hole/hatch things for bare wires but can it also have banana plugs into it?
  5. So do you think I'd be best going for a 1080p 144hz or a 1440p 60hz?
  6. Really nice review! I'd done a little bit of reading on this receiver today actually so it's nice to hear someone else back it up rather than having to attach the audio wire to the receive, does this also take banana plugs?
  7. Thanks for the help everyone So just to clarify then: if they're passive then I'll need a receiver, but if they're active then I might be able to just use the audio jack anyway? Also, does a reciever plug into the 3.5mm audio on your PC and then split that down the audio cables for the bookshelf speakers?
  8. Ok so what is the device called that you run a 3.5mm jack into and then audio cable from that into your speakers? Like with banana plugs and stuff.
  9. How much difference does having 8Gb vs 16Gb RAM make for gaming? Is it noticeable in AAA titles at the moment? Thanks! Edit: DDR3 by the way
  10. Hi, I'm new to decent audio stuff sorry so bare with me. I read that FAQ about sound cards and AMPs/DACs etc. I was just wondering if I can run bookshelf speakers from my PC without having a soundcard/AMP/DAC? I'm running speakers from a 3.5mm audio jack at the moment and nothing is fuzzy or anything so according to the FAQ I don't need a soundcard to improve my experience. I'm looking into buying some bookshelf speakers and I was wondering if I can save money by not having to buy an AMP/DAC. Can I run bookshelf speakers from a 3.5mm audio jack with some sort of splitter cable into banana plugs and some sort of power to them? Even if I can, am I better off getting a little AMP thing to improve the audio quality? I'm sorry if this all sounds stupid as I don't really know what I'm talking about. Please just explain to me like you would a child haha. Thanks!
  11. Do you think having full anti aliasing at 1440p is necessary? If you were to tone down the AA do you get decent frames on the 970?I'd been think about the posibility of going for a 1080p 144hz monitor instead. Do you think 1440p looks a lot better than 1080p? Should I go for a 1440p monitor and then maybe turn a couple of things down, or should I go 1080p 144hz maxed out?
  12. So I've looked into it more and I definitely think that going native 1440p is better than 4k upscale. Unfortunately I now have another problem. Am I better of going 1080p 144hz, 1440p 60hz, or can my rig squeeze out 1440p 144hz? Which ones are better and why? Do you think my rig would run 1440p comfortably on AAA titles? Could it even put out 144hz at 1440 for most games? If not, is 1080p 144hz better than 1440p 60hz? Sorry if I'm rambling but I can't think of how to phrase it exactly. I'm trying to think about what my rig can run but also the cost of the monitor.
  13. After talking to a fee people about this I think you're right. Upscaling doesn't sound like it looks good so there's no point buying a monitor that is just too much for the build
  14. I did but I was hoping you could explain it a little better to me, I don't really understand it.
