  1. Should I connect the monitor to the motherboard display output instead of gpu? the thing is right now when I press the power button to turn it on, I get nothing at all; no lights from the system, no fans spinning, no output to the monitor (not even the motherboard splash screen). I know for sure the monitor still works.
  2. lol, that's the first thing I tried this morning and I got nothing unfortunately.
  3. Recently, with the folding@home month and it getting colder, I've been running folding@home at medium on my pc to heat my room. Don't ask :) Anyways, this morning I woke up to a nice warm room (yay) but to my pc screen looking.... wrong. Everything looked kind of 'fuzzy' (that's the best way I can describe it). Hoping that it wasn't a serious issue, I tried to restart my computer. I got to the motherboard boot screen, but then the display went black (though the power LED on the case stayed on). I waited for a little while, then did a hard shutdown because it didn't seem to be doing anything. Now, when I press the power button, nothing happens. At all. No lights, no fan spin, no nothing. Not good. Specs are: MSI z170 pro SLI plus motherboard, evga gtx 1080, 6700k, corsair 850rx psu. I figure given that I'm getting nothing at the moment the first step will probably be to try a new motherboard, but that brings up a few questions: - is it worth trying to deal with MSI? I'm not sure if I have any kind of warranty from them for the mb (it's been just over two years since I bought it) - If I try to buy a new motherboard, will I be able to find new and affordable boards that are compatible with my 6700k? recommendations? - If I get a new motherboard and I'm still having issues, what is the next step? psu? gpu? Since it seems primarily MB related I posted it in this section, lmk if this is the right place or not. Thanks!
  4. AFAIK, there's no reason it wouldn't work. At some point you could run into a CPU bottleneck, and it's possible that 8GB of RAM wouldn't be enough in some applications, but GPUs are pretty much compatible with anything that isn't like 15 years old.
  5. well I'm still using a laptop from 2012 and have saved up about $1700 over the summer so far, the results of this should be interesting and probably useful for me. good timing.
  6. I bought an SSD for my laptop about a year ago, and it basically changed my life. for the better. Startup times are about a quarter of what they were before. And another SSD would be even better. Because why not?
  7. I definitely prefer the design of the Kiro. I've been using a pretty basic Steelseries mouse for a while now, and while it's nice, I'd definitely appreciate those extra side buttons. Also it looks cool, so that's a bonus.
  8. The Google OnHub router seems like exactly the thing for this giveaway. I'm always needing to help my parents with wifi problems, and in addition to that their old wifi is really slow. http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Wireless-Router-Firewall-SRT-AC1900/dp/B017C0HZEO/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449129808&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=OnHub+Wireless+Router+from+Google I was pretty impressed with it, particularly as you guys showed in your review, so it seems like a worthy gift. Thanks for doing this giveaway!
  9. This mini-desktop appeals to me because. . . well. . . I don't have a normal desktop. Just a laptop. Nuff said.
  10. All of that stuff looks really sleek. . . I have to say the keyboard seems the coolest though. Nice minimalist design. I like.
  11. My mouse isn't that bad but it's super basic; no extra bells or whistles. FinalMouse seems like a nice, simple, unobtrusive design which has some good extra features and good build quality.
