I live in Minneapolis and they have this flag Which is across the river from Saint Paul, However I think the logo for Minneapolis is better edit: I thought the sail boat on the logo was the flag since it is seen more than the flag

https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/interior-exterior-paints-stains/how-to-advice/painting-101/choosing-paint-finish This paint company has a nice table on what sheen is good on which type of surface. It is also a good quality brand if it is available in your area. Also if there is one near you a paint supply store (not a hardware store that sells paint) can be a good resource since they will have better quality supplies and may have the same color in different sheens.

I have a phone for work, I could use it for personal use, but my company can view all activity and has can see everything I install on it, so I carry two phones around with me, the work phone and my personal. Yeah it is a little bit of a pain to carry around two phones, but keeping work and personal separate is more important to me

All of the traffic at my workplace goes through our VPN (they even MITM some sites eg reddit) since we deal with protected health information and fall under HIPAA regulations, and I don't want to have to worry about paying those fines (up to 1.5 Million USD for accidental disclosure). I don't really print much for work, usually a one off document for record keeping purposes so it isn't too bad when I need to print something to save it til the end of the day or quickly drop from the VPN to print the one thing

What resources do you use for your IT job?
flowalex replied to StarsMars's topic in General Discussion
A lot of things aren't available on google for me as well, but we have a GitHub Instance, Jira, artifactory, custom built tools, new relic, splunk. I use google/stackoverflow for some things coding related, but observability tools are what we use the most. Note: My Job title is site reliability engineer -
Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS 1st time, and questions.
flowalex replied to WkdPaul's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
It isn't an extension, but I really like ulauncher since it is similar to spotlight search/Alfred on Macs, but three extensions that I like are Gravatar Lock-Keys (I only use this on my laptop since it doesn't have an indicator for when the num lock is on/off Coverflow Alt-Tab I am using 20.10, but they all should worked on 20.04 -
Monitor activity of multiple PCs over network
flowalex replied to tonyo_d's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
We use zabbix to monitor our servers at my job, I don't know if it tracks temperature, but it does the rest and is free (you pay for support). https://www.zabbix.com -

Pop_OS wont show desktop files

Do you have the gnome extension Desktop Icons NG (DING) enabled? That is required for the desktop icons to work I believe -
Anti Virus, VPN, and Password Manager Recommendations
flowalex replied to GeorgeDouj88's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
I can't give advice about antivirus, but I use keepass derivative and ProtonVPN. When looking for a VPN I would recomend comparing the features they offer for the cost. For example, my paid level of ProtonVPN comes with access to more devices, as well has the fastest speeds. Also if you can wait til the end of November (Black Friday to be exact) different companies may give deals to people buying their product. For keepass, take a look at keepassXC, they have better browser integration than the standard keepass.- 12 replies

I have it running on Pop!_OS, but I needed a gui just because the computer I was putting it on is a laptop with a broken screen and I needed an easy way to output to a different screen. I think it depends on what specs you have. For example, the specs I have is a i7-3612QM with 8GB of ram. You could probably be fine with whatever os you want, it is just preference, just make sure that you have enough resources for what you want to do

Premiere and After Effects rendering
flowalex replied to GM Rod's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
What render engine are you using for After Effects, I noticed significant drop in render times using Cinema 4D vs Ray Traced 3D -
I moved back to windows 7 after I got tired of daily BSODS, any audio trigger would cause a BSOD, plus I was getting a ton of audio stuttering when playback was working. I don't play AAA games so DX12 doesn't matter to me. I have a laptop with Windows 10 installed, but I use Linux more anyways so I don't boot into it much

Dents aren't bad everyone gets them at some point, I have a friend that had their car broken into and then a month later t-boned. There are two methods that I have tested that work for home dent removal, the first (only works if metal) is to heat up the area (a hairdryer works but takes a good amount of time) and then apply dry ice to it, make sure you wear gloves for this, the other is a product called pops-a-dent, which you can get off amazon(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LY4S7ZU/ref=twister_B01MG5SXVL?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1). I have tested these up to baseball sized dents, talk to your dad and explore these options.
