  1. The product was a bad idea to begin with. Backing it was a bad idea. I feel like these Neptune guys are being unfairly attacked for a bad idea that a lot of people are responsible for. The criticisms about shipping seem fair. If many backers never received their finished product, then that is a problem. The product appears to be about as good as could be expected given the price and feature set. To actually get something that Luke might want to use, it would have to cost at least as much as a top tier device, if not more. This could mean $1,000 USD. Even after that, it's still a bad idea at the core, but maybe the camera and screen would have been better. Fully featured watches are ergonomic nightmares. They are an abomination that should not exist. I blame the backers for supporting this.
  2. What appears to be deliberate action on the part of a graphics card manufacturer deserves its own thread in the hardware section.
  3. I am not sure if this is the best place to put this, but I would love to see some community and WAN Show discussion on this topic. Let me preface it by saying I only buy Nvidia, as I have had more than 8 awful ATI cards over the years. Never had a bad Nvidia experience. Nvidia released a game play video of Arkham Knight to show off their Gameworks effects. In the video (beneath the loud music) you can hear the sounds of the enemies as they are beaten up. The sounds are disturbingly chipmunk like. This would happen if the game was slowed down while rendered, then sped up to create the video. Video in question. https://youtu.be/zsjmLNZtvxk?t=19s Check ~0:20 and 0:24. IT happens many other times. Unreal Engine appears to support Time Dilation, which does not affect the sounds. This is one source that suggests that can be used to "pause" the game: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/126597/how-to-allow-all-sounds-to-continue-playing-when-p.html I believe Nvidia ran the game at either a 50% time dilation and 30fps lock or 25% time dilation and 15fps lock. This allowed them to get buttery smooth results while creating the effect where game audio is sped up. Nvidia has directly benefited from this deceptive video, because they were running the promotion that gave copies of Arkham Knight with purchases of new cards. I believe they doctored the game engine and footage in order to produce a deceptive video. Beyond Nvidia's possible deception, the PC port has other issues with gaphical features found on the PS4 and not present on the PC (ambient occlusion, rain textures, weathering textures on batmobile, removed environmental models on PC).
  4. Unfortunately Vessel will not work for me. I work more than full time AND commute via train for 3 hours/day. Entertainment time spent at a PC is very limited and I spend it gaming, rather than watching videos. Since Vessel does not pre-cahce, I can not watch it on the train, due to brief, but frequent connection interruptions. I also have a data limit on an expensive mobile connection. Being able to turn videos down to 240p or 140p on YouTube means I can stream many of them with little impact. Vessel does not offer such low quality options. I am gone from the house almost all day every day, so I will fall back to my Android phone to watch videos on occasion. Here again Vessel is a downgrade. I also watch the videos on my Smart TV, but that model of plasma is discontinued, so I highly doubt it will ever see a Vessel app. Unfortunately it looks like the only "service" Vessel offers is timely access to the videos that you are creating. In all other ways, the platform is a downgrade. It is only LMG that is creating the value. I would have preferred a Patreon or something else. Unfortunately Vessel will not work for me.
