    Hello all and welcome to update number two. Unfortunately no one guessed what the picture was so the 980ti which was the prize will just have to be given away another time... There isn't really a give away!
     
    None the less it is update time for you all! The picture was of the EK titan block which are going onto the GTX 980ti's! 
     
    I think that EK has updated their packaging since last time I got their parts. The boxes do look pretty swanky! However the block boxes do weigh more than you might expect!

    I had the choice between going for black blocks and the plexi ones and I could help but choose the stealthy look, these blocks just look amazing! and also, they have Titan X on the blocks so I can make out that I have got two Titan X's

    Had to take the sexy close up of the engraving job they have done onto the inside of the block. It is so shiny! the amount of times I needed to clean this was annoying though! It is a complete finger print magnet, especially when I split my mountain dew and had to touch it with my Dorito encrusted hands.

    Another close up, but this time the full picture of the one, none of you could guess... If only someone had guessed, they would be a 980ti better off now... There isnt really a giveaway, who would just give away a 980ti! If I had another one I would put them in three way SLI!!

    Not the best technique but we got there in the end! Got the blocks onto the GPU's and everything was looking sweet!

    Backplates are on and installed onto the cards, however they dont seam to have used the same metal as last time, these seam a little sticky to the touch and real finger print magnets. The other issue is, I had to really scrub to get my finger prints off the cards as they were almost imprinted in!

    Now I wanted to do a little mod to the SLI bridge, It was very easy actually! I thought I would be taking things apart! But hope I have done you proud Jay!

    There aren't huge design differences at all, mostly minor tweaks. I believe the SHINE II has more variety of backlight colours, etc. I would go for the Shine I if that's what you can find. :)

    Hello all,
    Thought i should get in early and create a central hub for all us Keyboard enthusiasts to congregate.
    For those who don't know what a mechanical keyboard is, here is a quick, very brief outline.
     
    On a regular rubber dome keyboard, ones you generally find in Schools, work places etc, under each key is rubber dome. When pressed, this rubber dome is pressed down, making contact with the underlying membrane, transferring the electrical impulse through the circuitry and thus telling the computer what button has been pressed.
    A mechanical keyboard, on the otherhand, doesn't have such a set up. Instead, underneath each key is an individual switch. When pressed, this switch is forced down, connecting the contact and transferring electrical impulse. The advantages of using a mechanical switch are quite strong, firstly it provides a much more tactile and wholesome feedback, good for telling the user when they have actuated the key. This allows the user, when they have got used to it, to type at a much faster rate as they know the feeling of when they have typed a letter, and thus can increase their word count. Also, mechanical keyboards allow for NKRO, or N-key roll over. Basically this means that the user can press down as many keys as they like, the computer will register all the key strokes. With a membrane board, there is a limit.

    There are many, many switch variants out there. However the ones you are most likely to come across are: Cherry MX switches. These come in a variety of names, denoted by their colour. Each switch feels slightly different, and provides the user with different reasons to use a switch.

    Cherry MX Blues: Tactile, clicky. - Good for typing, not so much gaming.
    Cherry MX Browns: Tactile, non-clicky. - Good gaming and typing due to their quietness, but still maintaining the tactile feedback (you can feel a bump when you press the key)
    Cherry MX Reds: Linear, non-clicky - Good for gaming, similar to Membrane in linear motion; no bump as it's not tactile.
    Cherry MX Blacks : Linear, non-clicky. - Similar to MX Reds, slightly heavier

    There are many other variants of the Cherry MX line up, however these are the main constituents which filtrate into the mainstream market.

    Simply post what Keyboard you're running, what switch type, TKL or not, and any other mods you've done to it.

    Here's a good video Linus did on the difference between DDR and GDDR. As for what card is in the PS4, it isn't a "normal", consumer-available GPU but I think it's based around the Radeon 7870 GPU.

    First, make sure your graphics card is properly seated, and power connectors are all firmly in place. If that is a-ok then try booting with only one stick of RAM at a time. If you go through all sticks then its time to look at your CPU. You may need to reseat it (make sure you have some extra thermal compound on hand).

    You will always want to retain receipts - so that's good practice. You can never have too many boxes, saves you having to buy them when you go on to sell something..
